  1. I recently bought a used red craftsman lift and fiddled around with it a little. It can be positioned under the bike so that one skid is under the "center stand tabs" and the other skid is under the driver footrest frame brackets. I delicately pumped it up a few times which was enough to raise the font tire 1/2 inch off the floor so I could spin the wheel and play with the calipers. It felt like I could have lifted the whole bike with a couple more pumps. Would there be an issue with raising the whole bike in this manner? If I went higher would I find that the front/rear balance would be off?
  2. From Iceland?! No way, they would get too many miles on them just getting here! Just kidding; and thank you for the kind offer. If the ones from amazon show up; I'll be set!
  3. Ya he was here and we had just watched my fuel pump peeing gas from the seam. You got one of those?
  4. Yeah I think you'll find that thread if you search "eBay fuel pump", but I've already ordered one so I'll report on it once it arrives.
  5. Now you had to go and get me thinking! Look who is mayor in Claiborne County, Tennessee! http://www.wbir.com/story/news/politics/elections/2014/08/07/candidates-running-for-mayor-in-east-tennessee/13724315/
  6. He lost! The other guy got 52% of the votes. Beam fell short by 110 votes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frontenac_County_municipal_elections,_2010
  7. Now that made me laugh!
  8. Don't make fun of Puc, he might come in here and have a.....COW.
  9. What's wrong with yours that you need to rebuild it? I would be interested to see if there is a kit for that. Yamaha has a part number for the whole pump assembly, but I could not find a breakdown of the pump with parts. Mine started dumping fuel from within, it was coming out of the seams of the pump body. (see pic where I am pointing.) I pried it apart and there was a round metal washer with a round thin red (rubber?) gasket between the two halves. I put some gasket goop in there just to see what would happen and it still leaked after put it back together and hammered the little tabs back down. I think I may go ahead and order the $25 pump. It looks to be a copy of OEM so no mods like the Mr Gasket pump requires. If it fits and works without leaking, I will probably order another to carry as a spare. Cheap insurance, and direct-fit so would be an easy roadside swap if needed.
  10. Ya thanks for coming by guys. It was good to meet some VR's for the first time! I really wanted to ride today but the fuel pump had other plans. Here's John and Jay on the street in front of my house:
  11. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Fuel-Pump-for-1996-2009-YAMAHA-XVZ13-ROYAL-STAR-ALL-MODELS-4NK-13907-00-00-/291268226096?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43d0f06c30&vxp=mtr#ht_3568wt_1041 Any thoughts?
  12. Was the pm supposed to be for me ? Didn't get one.
  13. Wow sometimes I do the exact opposite; I'll respond to a current thread but do it a really long time ago.
  14. That might be doable; I'll pm you tomorrow about 11am or give me your number so I can text you
  15. I'm a wannabe definate maybe. What do you have in mind?
  16. Hi Kevin. Cool research project you are doing. I consider myself a potential future 1st generation owner (when I see the right deal on a nice specimen). But either way, I would enjoy looking at your data if that's ok. PM to be sent. thanks, Jim
  17. Ok let me know! I might order a lift adapter with legs at the same time.
  18. Good one! But you could have thought BIG and said they come with the whole bike!
  19. I'll pony up, too. Or pup up? This was my dog on the day that I found her or, rather that she found me. I was outside in the front yard of a customer's house and suddenly there was a puppy at my feet. I knocked on doors, but nobody in any of the nearby houses knew where the dog came from. I took her home and went back to where I found her and put up a 'dog found here, please call me' sign. But no one called and we ended up keeping her.
  20. Ok this might be fun. Every day, someone please post a new pic. Something that will make most normal people with good souls crack a smile! Please make it one that you have taken yourself, not something from the internet. Keep 'em clean. If there's a short backstory, tell it! If you like a pic, click 'like' or comment on it. If you have a pic but someone has already posted one for the day, save it until tomorrow. I'll start: Story: Went to local lumberyard, saw this truck with the dog chilling by himself with the sunglasses on. His human was in the store; guy at the lumberyard says the guy's a regular and the dog is always with him and usually has his shades on.
  21. Thanks, Neil. I should have mentioned that I am aware of the ones on Ebay. (overpriced) They are a 'want' item, not a 'need' item, no hurry. I may have to wait and see if Amazon actually ships them. I apparently ordered the last pair but I will believe it when I see them on my doorstep. I just figured if anyone here has some, I could deal with them and cancel Amazon.
  22. Just the rubber inserts, not the whole floorboard assembly. I had two on order from boats.net but they kept backordering them and then cancelled my order and refunded.
  23. I don't see no pup! I stand corrected now! Adorable, and congrats!
  24. Cool! For me, I'd sooner buy a small used drill press on craigslist for $75 and make my own than to pay $89 from D-R. And then I would have a drill press! For some reason, I still don't have a drill press... But if he can make a bunch up and offer them for say $15-$20 shipped with a good instruction sheet, I'd bet people would support him in that.
  25. Is there anybody making leveling links for the RSV? Very simple and the Diamond R seems pricey for what they are.
