Isn't the Personal a dedicated Military/DND insurance? I have a friend who crashed his bike on a run last year, it took him a little under 12 months to get payment. My ex-son inlaw got side swiped on his car last year and still doesn't have payment. Personal is cheap but not very reliable when it comes to payment.

Intercom and Radio in helmet
Maritimer replied to Maritimer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I guess to overcome that "talking over the radio" problem, one can manually lower the radio volume down when talking. Thanks for the replies -
I might have misunderstood or misread some stuff but I was under the impression the radio was suppose to cut off when we use the intercom. If the radio is on the speakers I can understand it why it may not cut off but when listening to tunes in the HeadSet, it is pretty hard to understand my passenger and vice versa. Is there a setting to get the radio to cut off when talking or is it something I have to live with? Thanks

Anyone have dealt with these guys?
Maritimer replied to Maritimer's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I knew it sounded fishie but I neve thought they were that bad. Tx all for the input. John, I will check the reviews on that cross over. The one thing I don't want is a GPS that will route me through gravel roads. I had a Magellan before and it didn't care if I had a bike. One of the gravel roads it sent me through was barely fit for a 4 wheeler. Do you know it this one has the option of not allowing gravel roads? Thanks- 14 replies

Regarding purchasing a Zumo 550, I found this on the net. Price is the lowest I have ever found http://www.86photovideo.com/products.asp?product_id=18765 But sometimes, best price may not be the best deal. Just wondering if anyone has good/bad experience with these quys. Cheers

I have a similar problem as BobCat plus I can't see the map in my signature right now. It says it is there but I sure as heck can't see it. Can you? UPDATE: I can see it now on this post only but not on any others I have made......could be a work firewall issue I guess. I will see tonight on my home computer if it shows.

Thanks a ton (Metric ton LOL)

That was a really great way to get "road scars" for sure. She and I both enjoyed the ride and this is really not an outrageous price to pay to see the light she had in her eyes from this ride. Tx John. I will take a spin on the North side and see if I can get that. I know a couple of fellas on base with RSVs maybe we can get a ride together sometimes. I have a cottage near Pugwash we could use as a pit stop. Cheers

I have often wondered where to get those maps (Canada and US). Now I know how to put them in my signature but where do I get them in the first place?

I took my grand daughter on a toy drive this past weekend. Beautifull weekend and great ride. Around 200 bikes of all makes and models. Great turn out. Anyway, I had the intercom set up on her helmet but she is not really tall at 9 years old and I did not notice the cord from her head set was dragging on the bag cover. This caused a scuff mark approx 1/2" wide by 4" long across the width of the cover. Is there anyway to get rid of that? (not looking for a paint job here LOL) Thanks all.

I am 5' 4"...before I even took the bike out of the shop when I first bought it I took the seat to Upholstery shop who specializes in motor vehicles. I had 1 1/2" of foam removed and added a 1/2" gel pad for the loss of foam. The ride is still more then comfortable. Further to that, I lowered the front end by 1". This way, I take full advantage of the lower seat on my bike and get the added bike control at low speed. I believe there is a How To with pics in the tech section on this. Well worth doing. Now I can put both feet on the ground solidly. Cheers

This is the one I have and I love it. I had another set I had paid twice the price tag on this one and the sound was terrible. Very tinny. these I even enjoy listening to my music through them. CB comes it very clear and so does the intercom. http://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=JM%2DHS%2D8154%2DOF Total with shipping and customs, came to Approx $92 Can Cheers

Since we don't have a "Dark Side" section yet I will post here. Is there anyone who ever tried a CT who decided to never go back for what ever reason?

Windshield Height
Maritimer replied to Ken Parker's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine is a shortie 9" and I love it. -
I really like that idea of using that switch for the passing lights. More accessible then by the lighter.....and no more "WTF isn't the bike starting" comments LOL
