    05 RSV and 09 Raider
  1. Took half of the summer but, I found this 05 with 42k miles on it that the guy was willing to take an ATV as part trade. I still had to cough up another 3k so.. I figure I have 5k in it +/-. The clutch is soft and there are more scratches on it than I would have like to have seen but... Nobody was getting off of these bikes cheap. Anyway, I got it for the back seat.. plain and simple. My girl has an awesome round bubble of a backside and she needed that wide seat. Otherwise, I ride the Raider, XV1900 ( AKA Betty )
  2. My first gen had the whine but no where near as loud as my second gen. Jes sayin'
  3. Awesome.. another Shenandoah Valley rider!!!
  4. SWEET!! There are some nice houses for good deals out my way. Best part is you are still close enough for NOVA jobs if things change. Humm just for giggles. My girlfriend will be selling her 900sqft two bedroom this spring. Small but.. low priced for the area. Anyway, just a thought.
  5. Cool!.. what area are you in Tisunac?
  6. Sweet!! Maybe a pass through fitting where you can bring a small bit of the hose into the case and align it so it pours just to the bottom of the motor gear? The oil will be pulled into the contact area and maybe get rid of the Jetson's twrrrk?? Gotta make the effort to do this when I do my clutch this fall. I'll take pix too.
  7. Oh I remember those days.. Good on you, take care of them babies.
  8. Ever go to the Red Zone? They have karaoke and I'm a singing fool.
  9. I'll chime in here. I had a 89 Venture Royal back in the 90's and that thing was a TANK! Yes, it handled well enough until you came to a stop.. I dropped that bugger 3 times in one summer. I have burn marks on my leg to prove it. Top heavy doesn't begin to describe what it felt like trying to keep the shiny side up. I was happy to see the insurance check after the last time it fell. Can't say that I miss it either. Fast forward 15 years and two other bikes, I decided to get yet another bagger. I found an 05' RSV that I could afford and am HAPPY as heck to say this bike is a dream in comparison. Just this past weekend me and my lady did a 150 mile spin. I can't keep my face from smiling when I think of how much fun we had. The bike was AWESOME!!!! Feels sport bike like when I compare it to the yamaha Raider. I'm spoiled by the torque of the 1900 V twin and am looking for hot rod mods to get just a bit more grunt out of the 1300. 0-80 the Raider would eat it.. 80+... the Venture would shine! Just gotta twist that rubber band up a little.
  10. Knuckle heads are everywhere. Glad you'll be OK. Now for the fun, finding another bike to mod out!!
  11. Yamaha has a good handle on the Vtwin power plants. I have the Raider and boy does that thing have torque! Pulls like a mule up to 115mph. Just wish it handled like the Venture. Odd that a bigger engine bike (1900) weighs less but is harder to corner.. ? Oh well, lucky me for having that ..." problem" to sort out..
  12. Great place to visit, even better to live there. Yes the commute into Springfield is a bit much... like this morning but, I wouldn't trade places with anyone. Deer in the front yard and once in a while there's a bear in the back. And where else can a man own a backhoe just for fun??
  13. Here here!!!
  14. I vacationed in Ontario this past September. Let me say, I am completely in LOVE with your great country. I intend to take many more vacations up north. Proud to have you as our neighbor. AND now that I know the prices tend to fall in winter. I will be looking north for my ummmm.. Christmas gifts too.
  15. I wonder, can you smell the engine running rich? I found that if your filters are clogged you will get bad mileage. Maybe you simply have fouled plugs causing low MPG? Also, I understand that if your valve clearances are off, you will get bad mileage. I know it's apples and oranges but, I have a Dodge diesel and it had lost some of it's zoom zoom. Being that I only put 5k a year on the truck I just thought.. its 13 years old and... well.. its old.. Winter is on its way and I decided to give the old dragon wagon the once over. I had put bigger injectors in about 5 years ago and thought maybe they were part of the low performance/mileage problem. I was about to change back to the stock injectors when I started looking on the forums for advice. I read that the valves were supposed to have been adjusted at 150k.. DOH!! I'm at 209k... Thankfully, the adjustment process was pretty easy. As I was putting the valve cover back on I noticed the vaccume indicator for the filter was at 90!! That means the motor was starving for air.. SON OF A!! I NEVER let things like that happen! I popped the cover off and found that a mouse had built a house in my intake tube.. Long story short.. The old girl is back in prime form! Anyway.. diesel or not the same principle applies. Engines need to breathe, after all they are just a big air pump, right?
