  1. When agents or companies say the trailer is covered when attached to the bike, it is covered for liability when attached. The physical damage to the trailer would be covered by the accessory coverage provided by the policy. It's the same as pulling a trailer with a vehicle. The liability of the vehicle extends to the trailer. If you were pulling a trailer and it came loose the damage it caused would be covered by the liability, whether it was bodily injury to someone or property damage to someone's property. But remember the damage to the trailer is treated differently.
  2. I am a member and think it is a great organization. There are a lot of dedicated people that travel many miles to honor a fallen hero. You can't blame the PGR for some of the jackasses that ride that don't have enough of a brain to cover up some of their patches. I was on one mission and we had a flag line at the back of the church where the hearst was bringing in the fallen hero. In front of me was a scum bag that had a patch in the center of his back that said, "F**k You, I already have enough friends. How dispicable and disgracefull can you be. This guy has a business in town but you can bet your life I will never ever do any business with him. What you do on your own time is your business but what you do on your own time will reflect on your business. The guy has auto body repair shop and I have an insurance agency. Everytime one of my customers ask for a good body shop to go to I tell them not to go to his. I don't like being around the 1% ers but I understand sometime they show up but are respectful.
  3. I bought my 05 RSV new in september 05. My wife and I have had many good rides and good times. We have been to Key West, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Alabama. I hope to be able to buy another bike before I get too old but it won't be a venture. It will be an Ultra Classic. If I can't get a new one it will be an 09 or later. If the economy doesn't get better soon I won't get another bike. I am 61 and time is running out.
  4. John Boy and Billy!
  5. Won't be long until we find out what happens with the venture. Usually around September 8.
  6. It's interesting that when the price of gas went up everything else, such as produce and other grocery items, went up because it cost more to ship. But when gas went down the prices didn't go back down. They never do.
  7. People get me talking about harley being american made. That is an ignorant remark. They are assembled in the US but most of the parts are made in other countries.
  8. Good to hear everything worked out for you. I know how you and your family feel about riding again but people get killed and injured in automobiles every day. In 1967 I was 16 years old and had a beautiful 305 Honda Scrambler. I was riding through town and I met an oncoming vehicle with the signal light on for a left turn in front of me. I backed off the throttle until the vehicle came to a complete stop. Just as I got started to increase throttle again the car turned left in front of me. I hit the car at the back door, landed on the trunk and rolled off on the pavement. My bike was stuck to the back bumper and the driver keep going dragging my bike across the pavement. Fortunately I wasn't hurt. I could have been killed. My dad wouldn't let me get another motorcycle. Today I still get nervous when I approach a car that is going to make a left turn in front of me. After 45 years its still vivid in my mind.
  9. I don't know what insurance company you are with or if you deal with an agent but a few years ago one of my insureds had a claim and didn't have receipts. The claims rep was a female that didn't know anything about motorcycles so she was not going to pay for accessories without receipts. As the agent I called her and reasoned with her. I told her she could see the windshield was an aftermarked xlarge shield and told her what the general cost was. I then pointed out that the seat was a mustang seat and told her the cost of the seat. I then told her the cost of the aftermark pipes, and the extra chrome. The claims rep said she just needed something to put in the file in case her supervisor looked at the file and asked her to justify the claim payment. I then told her we could make a list with the description of each accessory and the cost. When I sent that to her she paid the claim. If you deal with an agent ask the agent to intervene for you. As an agent I have hundreds of customers with the company and can move all of them to another company so the company wants to keep me happy. If you are dealing with an 800 number or web site, good luck, you're on your own.
  10. I have the mic mutes and had a similar problem. I would be riding down the road and the mic would come on automatically and the ptt wouldn't turn the mic mutes off and they were doing other strange things. I emailed the guy with mic mutes, I think his name is Mike, and he said to take the fuse holder under the seat apart and clean the two ends of the connector good. I did that and now they work fine. When my wife and I go on a trip on the bike I will clean the connectors and haven't had any problems since.
  11. That scares me more than anything. Prayers for the rider and family. I have a fright that a tire blows out with my wife riding and she gets hurt or killed. I never push tires to see how many miles I can get but even that isn't a guarantee that you won't have a blow out.
  12. My wife and I have ridden the Blue Ridge Parkway many times over the years and I have never gotten bored with it. I don't do the dragon tail.
  13. Being in the insurance business customers ask me all the time when their rates are going to go down. I've started tellling them as long as we have idiots driving the rates will never go down. We now have claims constantly where someone was texting and hit someone. One of my insured's was stopped at a traffic light last week and all of a sudden he was hit from behind. It's a miracle he wasn't killed. The other driver was texting and never slowed until hitting him. Last week I was riding my bike to work and a pickup pulled from a driveway at a store directly into my lane. Fortunatley I was able to serve into the left lane. When I went by I saw the driver looking down texting and he was weaving all over his lane. When someone has an accident texting or talking on a cell they should have their license revoked for a minimum of 6 months. I'm getting paranoid about driving. We have seen an increase in claims where the other driver is charged with DUI at 10:00am.
  14. I can relate to what she says. I hate some bikers. Some of them don't have enough sense to be out in public. They cut in front of cars, rev the engine and burst your ear drums, etc. Here is a perfect example. On my first patriot guard mission I was in the flag line at the funeral home. (Patriot Guard riders are instructed to keep the throttle down and if you have a cb or radio turn it off). A group from a local motorcycle gang pulls into the funeral home reving their engines with loud pipes. Then when they left, one guy comes through the parking lot with his radio wide open. When they pull out into the highway they rattle the windows with their loud pipes. How disrepectful. If you can't act right at a funeral you are despicable. But there are bikers who act like this everywhere and it gives all of us a bad name. Then there are the wannabees that think they are bad when they get on a motorcycle. That's why I am not a biker, I am a motorcyclist.
  15. My wife and I rode to Natzhez and got up the next morning to ride the trace. I got so bored I had trouble staying awake. We got off on an interstate, don't remember the highway number, that goes into Memphis and went to Graceland. Still had a good time.
  16. Hey Lewis, I hope I can make it. If I can either date will be OK.
  17. Yamaha introduces the new year model in September each year. Usually around the 8th or 9th. I don't know of anyone that has ever been able to get the number of ventures sold each year. For some reason yamaha keeps that a secret. However, I talked to a retired yamaha dealer from Wisconsin two years ago and he said yamaha only sold about 1,700 ventures each year. I find that hard to believe but I don't know how to get the actual numbers.
  18. The statement I'm about to make may get this thread deleted but as the comedian Ron White says, "I have the right to remain silent but I don't have the ability. I wonder where Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are. If they won't to do good why are they silent on this.
  19. Hey Louis, When I joined the PGR I got an email from a guy in Newnan. His email is pl97paul@gmail.com He sent me a very nice welcome. Just wondering if you might know who this is? He said he was coming to the funeral but there were so many people there I couldn't find him.
  20. Last week I participated in my first mission. It was a KIA. I knew what the PGR is about but I didn't expect to be emotionally drained afterwards. When I saw the flag drapped coffin being unloaded from the plane it almost put me on my knees. I can't imagine what the family was feeling. Since the mission was local I went to the airport for the arrival of the body, stood in the flag line at the viewing at the funeral home and rode in the funeral possession. There were over 150 motorcycles that showed up. It was an awesome display of caring. The Westboro Church posted on their web site that they were going to be at the church the day of the funeral, but they didn't show up. One of the ride captains said she hadn't seen any of the WBC people show up in about two years. They had a permit to picket at a church in Marietta, GA. The church was a small church and when they realized how many PGR riders were coming they realized they couldn't handle all of them so they moved the services to the First Baptist Church in Marietta. When the Westboro people showed up at the small church no one was there. They found out the services had been moved to the First Bapist Church so they went there but were told they didn't have a permit there and would be arrested if they didn't leave. I talked to a guy from Phenix City, Al that said he bad been on the road for 14 days going to missions. I told him I didn't expect to experience the emotional drain and he said you never get used to it. Go Patriot Guard!
  21. Went looking for he rectangular mirrors. Wal Mart didn't have them but K Mart did for $1.06 each. Put them on today and they work fine.
  22. I have ridden the dragon twice. Won't never ride it again. I don't find anything fun about increasing the danger of riding a bike by 100%. If anyone wants to ride it, more power to you. I prefer to ride where I can watch the scenery and not have the dead man grip on my handlebars.
  23. Hey Goose, Glad you're back. I know how you feel about the reponses from some people. I almost left the site because I was trying to have an intelligent conversation about an issue and one guy said some harsh things and attacked me. I almost let him have it back but I decided to just notify one of the moderators. A few days later I got a reply from the moderator that said he had been away from the site a few days and couldn't address the issue. I was disappointed because I thought the moderator was supposed to look into these kind of things but this one didn't really care. But anyway, I got over it.
  24. I've been through similar things over the years and have learned what you have to do when dealing with companies. First, get the name of the person you talk to and document the date and time. I even ask for their extension number. If I have to send a letter I keep a copy of the letter. Last and most important, never, never assume that someone does what they tell you they will do. I follow up with a phone call in 7 days and keep following up until I confirm it has been done. It's a shame you have to do this but you can't rely on someone doing what they say they will do.
  25. Hey AtlantaDragonslayer, If I had been close to you I would have stopped but we rode to Commerce and then took 85 to Greenville, SC and then 26 to Ashville. If I'm ever around the Atlanta area I will give you a call. Keep sending those premiums in. A portion of everything I make goes to feed hungry children. They're my children but we are still feeding hungry children.
