Tallahassee Power Sports had the best mechanic around for the venture. Last time I was there he was the service manager and his name is Charlie. He was the premere goldwing mechanic in the area when Tallahassee PS hired him. I bought an 05 venture from them in 05 and he got his venture training on my bike. I was always pleased with his work.

The bikers are a bunch of thugs. Even the 1%ers show respect on the highway. They ride in slanted single file, have a road captain and if one is pulled over by the popo they all pull over. I can't believe the sympathy for the bikers some on here have.

It's amazing how brave people are when they are in a group. Get these guys one on one and they probably are a bunch of cowards. Where was the POPO when all of this was going on? Those guys need to come on down to Georgia. If one of them came up to the vehicle they would probably be looking down the barrell of a gun.

Where is the best place to order longer cables?

This topic comes up every now and then and I have always been shocked that in some states you aren't covered if hurt riding a bike. This has never been the case in Georgia and I don't know why riding a bike would be any different in any state. But, who knows what the affordable health care act says about coverage while riding a bike.

The popo asked him if he had been drinking and Yammer replied, "you been eatin donuts"?

I ordered the seat nuts from Rick Butler a few years ago and they worked great. Had my seat off one day cleaning the bike and when I started to put the seat on I dropped the right nut and couldn't find it. I am on my second set now and the right one keeps coming off. Anyone know what is causing this?

One of my insureds came by the office this morning. He traded his road king for a 2014 Street Glide Special. I must say I am impressed. I've always liked the instrumentation on the harleys. This bike has a touch screen in the center where you can touch radio and the stations come up and you touch the one you want to listen to. You touch set up and you can press gps and a gps comes up. Of course the sound system of the harley has always been awesome. It has a vent system you can adjust where it will blow air toward your face. The 1690cc engine is awesome. Too bad yamaha won't do the same to their bikes.

Yamaha sent a factory rep from Florida to look at my bike a few years ago. I had five rear diffs within 16,000 miles. The rep said to grease the rear pins at every tire change with honda moly grease. -
I started riding the trace in Natchez and it was a nice interesting ride for about 30 or 40 miles. Then I had to fight to say awake. So boring. I got off, I think on I65 and rode to Memphis and went to Graceland. I wouldn't ride the trace again. You might enjoy it though.

If you want to see harely bashing go to www.harleytechtalk.com. Some of the things the harley guys say on there would get deleted if they were said on here.

Motorcyclist Struck by lighting near Grandfather Mountain
ediddy replied to etcswjoe's topic in Safety and Education
It is dangerous riding a bike when it is lightning. I have read where bikers were struck by lightning while riding their bike. I think if I was in a storm and it was lightning I would take my chances riding rather than getting under a tree. -
Very good advice Snaggletooth. Don't say anything. In a deposition or courtroom a lawyer will ask for a yes or no answer. You could be asked, "You called Mr. Doe to say you hoped he was alright because you felt bad that you hit him, didn't you? When you try to explain why you called, the attorney will stop you in the middle of your explanation and say, just answser yes or no. I got sued a few years ago and had to give a deposition. The attorney would ask a question and I would want to give an explanation. My attorney asked for a break and took me outside and told me not to volunteer any info, just answer the question. Attorneys will try anything. When we got back inside the attorney asked me if I have ever been on the sales lot of a local mobile home sales lot. I said no, and I don't even know where the lot is. The attorney asked me again and I said no. The attorney said Mr. Hall before I ask you this questions again here is something you need to read. It was an affadavit from the manager of the sales lot stating that when the insured's mobile home burned I ran to the lot and asked the manager for the description and serial number of the mobile home so I could insure it after it burned. It's a wonder I didn't get arrested. I flew into a rage and got in the attorney's face and said, "This is false and if that manager filed a false affadavit I'm going to get his ass, your ass and anyone else invovled. My attorney grabbed me by the arm and said we need to take a break and drug me outside. My attorney said calm down calm down, that affadavit isn't signed. The manager would be a fool to sign a false affadavit. The opposing attorney was going to try to trick me into saying something that wasn't true. This isn't right and you would think attorneys would uphold the law, but I can tell you from experience you can't trust them.

Hey Yama Mama, I hope you don't get sued but nowdays you never know. I had an insured that was stopped at a traffic light and a drunk guy starts to ride his bicycle across the street and hits the car in the side door. He sued and the auto insurance company paid him. Is it right? No. But that's the way it is today. Too many lawyers.

Let us know when you get served with the suit papers.

What the dealer said may be true but I won't believe it until I see it. If I had a dollar for every dealer that has said this over the past few years, I could buy a new bike.

Hey MikeWa, Yamaha doesn't announce the venture until September each year. You can't believe anything anyone says until it is announced in September.
-
I won't believe there won't be a 2014 Venture until Septmeber when they announce the new bikes. There have been people on here post in the past that they talked to yamaha USA and were told there was going to be a new improved venture and everyone was going to really be surprised with the new venture. What happened, nothing. There was one post on here a few years ago from someone that worked for a company that did business with yamaha usa so they knew some of the higher ups with yamaha and the higher ups said the venture was going to be discontinued the next year but then the next year it was going to be re introduced. Never happened. There have been dealers that have said there was or wasn't going to be a new venture. You can't believe anything until yamaha announces whether or not there will be a venture.

I previously asked about a good gps and it seems the 765t was used most and everyone was pleased with this model. Went on line to buy and it has been discontinued. Couldn't find any info on the replacement. Anyone know about this?

Do you have a mic for the ear buds? I have the chatterbox system. It came with head sets you mount in your helmet and a mic. I cut the wires to the head sets and use the mic with the ear buds. The mic until slips into the helmet on the side of the helmet so it can be used with any helmet.
-
I bought the ed set adapter where you can plug in a set of ear buds into the yamaha sound system. The sound is 100 times better and you can use any helmet since there are no speakers to mount in the helmet. Your helmet will slip right over the ear buds. I have had several sets of ear buds and recently bought a pair at wal mart for $19.95 and the sound is the best I have ever heard. The head sets are red and made for people that work out and listen to music.

I know there are many threads about GPS's. I have a friend that purchased an 07 RSV and he would like a gps that you can plug into the venture's audio system and is bluetooth compatible so he can use his cell phone through the system. Any suggestions?

I've got to tell you a funny story about something that happened at the Angel City rally. I was there with two friends. It was during the day and we needed to go over to the portable toilets. One guy goes into the toilet leaving me and my friend outside. A member of the Outlaws comes over and goes into a toilet. After a while my friend points to one of the toilets and says isn't that the one Dale, our friend, went in. I said I think it is, so my friend goes to the toilet and starts rocking in back and forth. We thought this was so funny and laughed and laughed. A few seconds later Dale comes out but not from the toilet my friend rocked. We looked at each other and realized the Outlaw was in the toilet that my friend rocked. We looked like the three stooges running away as fast as we could.

I've never been to the milledgeville rally but have been to Angel City, Bainbridge and others. During the day most rallys are fairly calm. When it gets dark is when I don't want to be anywhere around. I'm no saint and like to have a good time but I am amazed at people my age that have never grown up. My neighbor works for budweiser and asked me if I would go to the Bainbridge rally and help him that weekend. I said yes and let me tell you I was shocked at the wackos that change from normal people at night. We rode around in a golf cart and passed out tee shirts and beads. I'm not going to even start to tell you what people will do. I would to a rally during the day but I wouldn't be there at night.
