  1. Hey DragaonRider, Thanks for letting me hang out with you while I as in Newnan. It was good to see you again. The 05 venture you mentioned that was at cycle city power sports is a good deal for someone. The previous owner spent a fortune on chrome and other upgrades. It is a good looking bike. Ride Sage! Eddie
  2. Hey Whozleft, When the yamaha factory rep looked at my bike the last time I had trouble with the rear end he recommended honda moly 60 grease. He said he uses it for his personal use and it is the best he has found. He sent the service manager at the yamaha dealership to the honda dealership to get their moly 60 to grease the rear end of my bike.
  3. I can't wait until Sept 9 to see what happens.
  4. I will be at cycle city powersports in Newnan saturday sept 6. Anyone interested in meeting up and possibly riding in the area or having lunch or something? Thanks, Eddie.
  5. That was a good video. I hadn't seen my relatives in awhile.
  6. Hey CMIK, What year model ultra classic did you ride and what was it that you didn't like? Thanks, Eddie
  7. Good ol GEICO.
  8. My fuel pump went out at 36,000 miles. If my bike didn't have the 5 year warranty I would be bankrupt by now.
  9. I am in southwest Georgia so I know the heat. The clearview shield is excellent. It not only has the vent but the shield sweeps back a couple more inches than the stock shield which helps with wind buffeting. I have the extra large clearview and it has eliminated all of the wind buffeting my wife used to get riding on the back. You won't go wrong with the clearview. We ride through Gray several times a year going to the mountains. Next time we are coming through I will try to give you a call.
  10. Hey Boo, You need to check around for better rates. GEICO came into the market giving the coverage away to get market share. Now the losses are coming in and they are losing money. A woman was in my office last week that has GEICO. She was in the left lane and someone in the right lane came over and hit her car. She called GEICO and reported the claim but said she didn't want any payment yet. She paid for her damage out of her pocket and the other guy paid for his damage. Guess what? She just received her cancellation notice, because of the accident even though GEICO didn't pay anything. Paying all those actors, cave men and the gecko is costing too much money. Things like canceling a policy for no reason is the first sign a company is losing money. It was just a matter to time before they started cracking.
  11. Can only speak for Georgia. If you are going less than 15 mph over the speed limit it is considered a minor violation by most insurance companies. Some companies don't even charge for the first minor violation. If you are going more than 15 mph over the speed limit it is considered a major violation and can be rated as much as a DWI. You were only going 13 mph over the limit. As far as going to court most state troopers are well trained in testifying in court. Usually city policeman aren't. Just because the leo doesn't show up doesn't mean the case will be dismissed. As some said it can just be postponed until they can be in court. One thing you can try is when you know the court date call the leo headquarters and ask if trooper so and so is going to be off on that date. If it is his day off he will be more likely not to show up. I have people come in my office for car insurance all the time that say their speed was lowered or they took a driving course and were told it wouldn't be on their mvr but it is. If it won't cost you court cost you don't have anything to lose going to court.
  12. It will be interesting to see. I noticed yamaha has a new web site and the 09 cruisers are already on the site.
  13. Hey Dandy1, I just got my 05 RSV back from the dealer saturday. The fuel pump went bad. I went on a 1,100 mile trip with no problem. Parked bike for 2 days and when I started to work I got one block and it died. Kept trying and it finally started and ran fine. I went on a 550 mile trip the next weekend with no problem. Parked at home and 2 days later started bike and it wouldn't start unless full choked. When it started if you gave it any throttle it would die. Finally wouldn't start at all. I trailered it to the dealer. Don't try loading a venture on a trailer without power. The dealer checked the spark and electrical and all ok. The mechanic tapped on the fuel pump and it started. Dealer replaced fuel pump under warranty. Before taking to the dealer I sprayed the ignition with wd 40 and took the fuel hose off the petcock. Gas poured out. I would try tapping on the fuel pump and see if it will start. Like someone said if you don't hear the fuel pump ticking a few seconds when you turn on the ignition that is a sure sign it is the fuel pump. Good luck.

    Asheville video

That's good. The ride was better than my ride up Mt Mitchell two years ago. When we got to the ranger station the wind was blowing and the rain mist was almost sleet. I thought I was going to freeze to death. We didn't go any farther and started down. I was behind my brother in law who was on a gold wing. I couldn't see his tail light or the road. I had to look around the windshield and look for the white line. We we got back down the mountain the sun was shinning. I want to go back again when the weather is better.
  15. One on my insureds pulls an aluma trailer with his goldwing. A car slammed on the brakes in front of him and he went down. Totaled the wing and did minor damage to the trailer. He had rode rash and a few bruises. The goldwing didn't stop him from going down.
  16. My best friend since the first grade in school, rides a harley. He was at a rally and walked by a guy talking about his yamaha. The yamaha rider said, " and it sounds just like a harley". My friend said, I've never hear anyone say, "hey my harley sounds just like a yamaha".
  17. Today I picked up my bike from the dealer. Has a new fuel pump installed. I asked the parts manager when the 09's would be out. He said septmeber 9. I mentioned the rumors about the venture. He said he moved to Tallahassee, Florida from Wisconsin. Said he worked for a yamaha dealership in Wisconsin for 14 years and was in sales. He said he doubts there will be a venure in 09. I'm just repeating what he said but he said yamaha sold less than 1700 ventures in 2007. I asked if he meant 17,000 and he said no 1700. The dealership got 2 ventures per year and he said he always sold them as soon as they got them but yamaha doesn't seem to care about the venture. He doesn't think there will be another venture at all in the future. Time will tell.
  18. I used to knock harleys and say they are inferior. I can't say that anymore. My friends that own harleys are riding while my venture is in the shop. Everytime I meet my harely friends they ask me "isn't it time for another rear end." I just laught and say, no it hasn't been 5,000 miles since the last one. It's been in the shop for two weeks now waiting for a fuel pump. The harely riders are riding while I am in the shop. I've had the shock replaced, I basket, 5 rear ends, radio replaced and now the fuel pump. All my friends that bought harleys haven't had any problems.
  19. Thanks for all the suggestions. Took bike to dealer last week because it finally got where it wouldn't start at all. It was time for the 36,000 mile service so I left it for the service and to find why it wouldn't start. It was the fuel pump. Mechanic said spark plugs were black which was probably from trying to get it to start will full choke so they replaced the plugs but still wouldn't start. Tapped on the fuel pump and it started right up. They are ordering a new fuel pump.
  20. Just got a call from the dealer. The full pump is bad, thats why my bike won't run. When the mechanic tapped on the fuel pump it started right up. They have ordered a fuel pump but don't know how long it will take to get it.

    Chirp

Hey veep1, I have an 05 rsv and the chirp was bad. My dealer replaced the clutch basket with the I basket and the chirp and whine is completely gone. With some bikes it just changes the rpms where you hear the chirp and some say it doesn't make any change. I don't understand why but it is something yamaha needs to correct.
  22. Hey MMVenture, I have had the same problem with my 05. Took it to the dealer last week and left it so they can deal with the problem. Will let you know what the problem was. After a long ride I would let my bike set for a few days and when I started to ride again it wouldn't start unless I gave it full choke. It wouldn't take any throttle. I put seafoam in each time and it would finally start and run ok until I let it set up for a few days. The last time it did this it wouldn't start at all. You can look up my post "strange things going on with my bike." I sprayed the ignintion switch with WD40 but that didn't help. I took the fuel line from the petcock and gas poured out of the petcock. I think the fuel pump isn't working. The dealer said it could be a relay switch going to the fuel pump. I should hear from the dealer by tuesday or wednesday. Will let you know the problem. Oh, by the way. Loading a venture onto a trailer without power is not easy.
  23. Hey Juggler, I haven't tried these passenger floorboards but have been interested in them. A friend on mine has a gold wing and kuryakin makes a pair that are excellent but they don't make them for the venture. Let me know if you like them and I will order a set. Thanks

Wal Mart has it for $5.69 per can. Was at auto zone friday and the are charging $7.99 per can.
  25. When ya'll said you sprayed WD4 on the ignition are you talking about spraying it on the ignition switch where the key goes in? Thanks.
