  1. Hey footsiebiker, I have thought about a m&e here many times, just haven't tackled it yet. One thing to think about is the heat here is south ga. The fall or spring or maybe winter would be the best times of the year. If you want to get together to discuss, let me know.
  2. Speaking of discontinuing the RSTD, this is similar to what honda did. They discontinued the valykrie and kept the goldwing.
  3. My wife and I are leaving Albany, Ga early friday morning. We are staying at the ST Augustine exit on I-95. I think it is a Holiday Inn Express. We will get there around 2 or 3:00 friday afternoon. Are leaving sunday morning to come home. Wouldn't mind meeting up with other venture riders.
  4. Hey VGoose, Can you look on the avon and tell if it is a V rated or H rated. I am on my third set of avons and I always run 48 psi in the rear tire.
  5. It should be covered under warranty but you probably have to go through a dealer. My dealer told me that anything under $750.00 doesn't have to be approved by yamaha. The dealer can cover it under warranty and submit it to yamaha, no questions asked. If your dealer gives you a hard time, you need to call yamaha or go to another dealer.
  6. It won't be long before here in the US we will be just like Canada. Can you say government health insurance?
  7. Hey Bobcatplat, How did you find out that the new yamahas were going to be introduced on Sept 8. I haven't been able to get anyone with yamaha to give a date other than it will be Oct or Nov.
  8. Hey Girlyman, Man you scared me. I was scanning through all the threads and I saw Girlyman can't get it up and I thought this is going to get banned, then I read the rest, on the centerstand.
  9. Hey Raceman62race, You need to call the patrol post where that trooper works and let them know what happened. Their is no emergency that would justify killing someone to get to the emergency. Sounds like the trooper around the Dalonega area need some training.
  10. I was at a honda dealership this week and they said honda had discontinued the 1800 vtx. I didn't know that. The vtx was a bad bike but I didn't think it sold well. I hardly ever saw one. I believe if they had come out with a vtx with windshield, saddlebags and maybe fairing it would have sold better, but the Japanese didn't ask me.
  11. That is a cool web site. They have Lady Gaga's Poker Face
  12. Hey Bubber, I called the customer relations number that is on the yamaha web site. 800-962-7926. You don't know who you will get when you call this number. I wonder if the people answering the phones are working out of their home. The reason I say this is the last time I called with a complaint I got someone in some state, I don't remember which state, but when I called back a few minutes later I got someone in another state.
  13. Yama Mama, I know what you mean about attending a self esteem meeting. I was supposed to attend a stop procrastinating class today but decided to wait until tomorrow.
  14. A couple of weeks ago I called yamaha usa and asked the person that answered the phone when the 2010 models would be out. He said in november. I replied, why so late? He said, well october or november but don't hold me to it. I realized he didn't have a clue so I thanked him and hung up the phone. This afternoon I decided to call and see if I got a different rep. The guy that answered the phone answered, this is Al Harper can I help you. I was surprised and kind of stunned. Why? When I was having trouble with the rear diff on my bike Al Harper was the factory rep yamaha sent from Florida to look at my bike. The last time yamaha sent a factory rep it was Al and he was the guy that recommended honda moly 60 grease for the rear end. I also met Al one year at the star motorcycle exhibit in Daytona. So you can see why I was surprised. Al said he was on the road for 8 years with yamaha as a factory rep but was now in the office because yamaha wanted someone that had technical experience to talk to customers and he enjoyed being home every night. We had a good conversation and then he asked why I called. I asked him if he knew when the 2010's would be out. He asked why I asked that. I lied, forgive me, and told him I was interested in trading my 05 for a 2010 and that there was a lot of speculation there wouldn't be a venture in 2010. He said the 2010's would be introduced at the dealer meeting which is usually in september or october. He didn't know the exact date. He however thinks there will be a venture in 2010. He also said yamaha corporate employees are hoping for a re-designed venture with the new vmax engine, detuned of course, but he doubted that would happen this year. I mentioned the outdated cassette player and he said you don't know how many times we hear that and it has gotten to be a joke. He also said we tell yamaha about the cassette player every chance we get. I mentioned our web site and told him he needs to visit and he would get a lot of good feedback. I told him I personally doubted there would be a re-designed venture this year because of the expense to re-tool and sales are down. He said if yamaha is thinking about a new venture you can bet that yamaha has been working on it 3 or 4 years. He said it takes 3 or 4 years to design and test a new bike before bringing it to market. He said yamaha worked on the straoliner 4 years before it was introduced and they worked on the raider 3 years before it was introduced. Finally I told him when going on this site it was amazing to see the different responses people get from dealers regarding warranty and repairs. He said he had seen this over the years. He said some dealers are more knowledgeable than others but since the dealers are independent businesses yamaha can't do much. Well, this has been more useless info for you.
  15. Yama Mama, Don't feel bad. I was on a harley web site and the same thing happened. Someone posted about the news on Billy Lane and after some discussion one of the moderators closed the thread.
  16. I wouldn't let Bubba work on my bike, but I would let him do my tax return. You need to change the name to Busted Knuckle Cycle Repair and Tax Service.
  17. I bought a set of chatterbox headsets in 2005. They have worked as good as any. I recently bought the adapter from edsets so I can plug earbuds into the system. When I did this I cut the wires to the helmet speakers and just use the chatterbox mic and the ear buds. This way I can use the mic with any helmet. In the summer I use it with the half helmet and in winter I use it with the 3/4 helmet.
  18. Anyone know the date the 2010 models will be available. Last year I think it was september 9. I can't find anything from yamaha.
  19. I have trailed my bike many miles but I never tie down the rear. The bike is so heavy I've never had a problem with the rear end moving around.
  20. Glad to hear JGorom is doing better. Hope he fully recovers. Which bike was he riding?

    opossum

Ya'll got to get the spelling and pronunciation correct. It's not opossum, it's possum. Just ask granny clampett.
  22. This was mentioned yesterday on the harley tech talk web site but no one could confirm. Thanks for the info.

    HD Rally

I have to issue a disclaimer before I speak. You have probably heard of the standard disclosures. Batteries not included, do not try this at home, objects in mirror appear larger than they are, don't immerse the hairdyer in water, etc. If you say anything about harley here you are acused of harley bashing. So here is the disclaimer. The following isn't my opinion or how I feel about harley. Am only repeating what harley riders have said. I go on a harley web site two or three times a week. A harley rider posted that he had heard the moco was moving to mexico. The post got so heated that a moderator closed it for discussion. This subject really struck a nerve with harley riders. It was said that harley brought in a new ceo that was formally ceo of Johnson Controls and he nearly destroyed that company by buying inferior materials at a lower price and moving some operations to mexico. The hd guys said they would get rid of their harleys if the moco moved to mexico. It was interesting however to see what the guys said they would get instead. Most said they would go with a victory, a few said they liked the valykrie. I didn't read where any of them mentioned a venture. I must say I did get a kick out of reading that post. It has been locked so you can't respond anymore but you can read what was already posted. It will interesting to see what the future for harley holds.
  24. Those have to be water snakes. No way would they grab a moccasin like that and live to tell about it. However, I wouldn't grab a water snake or even a plastic snake.
  25. Hey raceman62race, You didn't call the right person. Some of the dealers in north georgia call me when they have a young driver on a crotch rocket. I usually can get the rate down to $1,200.00 per year. I recently visited a dealer that sends me a lot of business to thank them and the sales manager said no we need to thank you. The insurance cost can make or break a deal and you have saved us many deals.
