When I bought my bike in 05 I ordered the yamaha saddlebag liners and the trunk liner. I have only used the saddlebag liners once but use the trunk liner everytime we take a trip. It's amazing how much you can get in the trunk liner. For me, I just don't like the saddlebag liners. It seems I can get more in the saddlebags without the liners.

I've never had mine stolen but a friend of mine was coming home from a trip and had his helmet on the seat and his bag with this clothes straped on the back. He went in a restaurant to eat and when he came back his helmet and bag was gone. He was in Georgia and was close to home so he called the state patrol and told them what happened and he said they gave him a permit to ride home without a helmet. If I'm not going to be away from my bike to long or can see it from where I'm at I don't lock it. But otherwise I do lock it.

This is a bad time for motorcycles and rv's. Motorycles are a toy and the first thing to go when people have money problems and they are the last thing anyone buys. I called on a honda, yamaha, suzuki dealer last week and they said the only thing keeping them open was the service dept. They still have new 08 bikes on the floor so they aren't ordering any current year bikes. A friend of mine that hangs out at the local harley dealer said they sold six new bikes last month. A friend of mine that is the sales mgr at the local honda, yamaha dealership said yamaha is predicting there will be 300 yamaha dealers go out this year. I would hate to be the owner of a motorcycle dealership right now. Maybe we need a cash for cycles program. A trillion here and a trillion there and pretty soon you are talking about a lot of money.

I would say you are right but, after being married to my one and only wife for 40 years, I learned you can be right or you can be happy. I choose to be happy.

When I go on the ebay site it says it is a 2008. Even if it was a 2007 it would still be in warranty until 2012.
-
If its an 08, why does it say no warranty?

Hey footsie, I got a can at Albany Auto Repair on Oglethorpe Blvd. It was $20.00 which is a little more than most people charge. I have an auto repair shop insured and the owner told me he was going to give me a can to try and would sell it for $15.00 per can but I got tired of waiting. You can't depend on what he says. He also said he could would get me a case at wholesale. If enough people close by want some I will see if I can get a case from him. Let me know.

I found a can of 44k at a local auto repair garage. How much should I put in a tank of gas? The garage owner said it was some bad stuff and to make sure I didn't get any on paint, clothing, or skin. He also said if I didn't use all of it not to store in a plastic container but to use glass.

Thanks everyone for your input with this problem. My computer tech came by this afternoon and picked up up my notebook to clean it up. We have our computers networked here at my office and I use the notebook as a workstation and I have a replicator so I can unhook it from the network and take it home. The computer tech said this malware/ virus is a new version that just started showing up in the last couple of weeks. It locks down your computer and you can't load, download get in your registry or do anything on your computer. This one is very bad.

No disrespect meant but for the 100th time, dealers are not told by yamaha what they are going to do until the current year model in introduced. Someone on this site posted they called yamaha and was told they were going to be surprised with the new 09 models. Nothing happened. I talked to a retired dealer that has no reason not to tell it like it is and he said yamaha is tight lipped about new models and doesn't discuss them with anyone until the day they are introduced and he also said they don't listen or care what dealers say. The guys with the star exhibit don't know either.

Thanks Don for your input but this program won't even let me on the internet to download a program. I just talked to our computer tech and he said this program is the worst he has seen and he doesn't know anything to do other than come by the office monday and wipe the hard drive clean and reload all the programs. I had rather take a beating than do this but it appears there isn't any other option. We have so many insurance company programs, agency management program, rating program, address program, insurance company form programs that take forever to reload. Oh well.

I tried to restore the computer to last week but you can't do anything. This program starts up and locks out every program. I've never seen one this bad. The first program was spyware 2009. It did the same thing but it didn't lock you out so you could go into the registry and get it out. With this antivirus pro you can't get into your directory or load or start any scans. The jerk that developed this one really covered all bases. I don't know what to do except wipe the hard drive clean and start over. That is a real pain.

I have run computer in safe mode and deleted the program but when you restart in regular mode the sypware loads itself again. When it does this you can't get into any program to get it out. This one is a real problem.

Hey stvmaier, Your dealer is correct. I've had several issues and my dealer told me that anything less than $750.00 could be done by the dealer without yamaha approval but anything over $750.00 had to be approved by yamaha.

Anyone have any knowledge about a malware called anti virus pro? I started my computer at the office this morning and this program came up and said it was scanning for a virus. This is a scam. I turned off my computer and restarted. This program opens up and starts scanning. It has disabled all of my programs. I can't run any of the malware programs. This happened with another program before and a google search had blogs from people all over the US that had this problem and one guy had a detailed report on which files to delete from the registry. I did that and got rid of the program. This one is tough and there isn't any info on the web. I found the program but can't get it out of my computer because it has locked out all the other programs. Anyone know anything about this program or how to get it out? I am shut down.

I know exactly what you mean. When I was going to trade my vstar for a touring bike I just knew I wanted a wing. My brother-in-law has a 2000 wing and let my wife and me take it for a ride for as long as we wanted. After about a mile I realized this wasn't the bike for me. My wife also wasn't happy and said she felt cramped. I didn't like the position of my feet on the pegs. Another friend has an 04 venture and let us take it for a ride. After about 5 miles my wife leaned up to my ear and said this is the bike for us. Another friend of mine who is on this site had a wing before he got a venture will tell you that he could never get comfortable on his wing. I'm not bashing the wing, it is a good bike, but it just isn't for me.

I bought my 05 venture in september 05. Just rolled over 48,000 miles. Met a guy last month from Florida that has a 2000 with 200,000 miles. Said he never has replaced anything but oil and plugs. Does his own service.

This subject comes up a lot and different dealers are always giving their opinion but the fact is, no one knows. Yamaha is tight lipped about the next years products and they don't even let the dealers know until the models are introduced. My dealer told me that the 08 would be the last venture because of poor sales and there was no way there would be a 09. No one will know until the new models are introduced.

You can go to the State Attorney General and read all the legal language you want to but the bottom line is that the credit card companies are the only companies that can change the terms of the contract anytime they want to. I was watching a senate hearing on cspan regarding the credit card companies. There was a law professor from harvard university that testified that credit card companies were the only companies anywhere in the world that could change the terms of a signed contract at will without giving you notice. She said it was insane and against all legal sense to allow this but in the US it can be done. I was reading an article on MSN where Citi Bank was cancelling credit cards without giving notice. People who had never missed a payment were going to use their card and being embarrassed when it showed their card had been cancelled without any notice. I talked to an attorney in Atlanta a few weeks ago that told me there was a new definition in the credit card industry. If you pay your balance in full each month you are now called a dead beat by the credit card companies. They don't want you paying in full. They want you to carry a balance and go over the limit so they can hit you with a fee and increase your interest rate. The people of the USA need to cancel their cards and tell the companies to stick it. Oh by the way, isn't it interesting that we bailed these companies out but they are showing their thanks by sticking it to us.

I have one word to describe Chase. They are a bunch of bottom dwelling, scum bag bastards. Oops, thats more than one word. I wouldn't do business with them under any circumstances and they can all go to hell. A few years ago we re financed our house with them. They wouldn't let us pay the taxes and insurance directly, they required us to put the taxes and insurance in escrow so they could pay them. In January we started getting notices that our property taxes hadn't been paid. My wife called Chase and they said they would send a check that day. We got lates notices in February, March, April and May. Each time my wife would call and they would tell her they were mailing a check that day. In June we got a notice that a tax lien had been placed on our property for non payment of the taxes. I called chase and I can't repeat what I said to them but they overnighted a check for the taxes. My wife had a credit card with chase that she had for over 5 years and had never been late with a payment. She gets a notice from chase that because of negative credit info on her credit report they were raising her rate to 23%. Guess what the negative info was? The tax lien that was caused by them not paying our property taxes. I called chase and talked so ugly to them I even felt bad when I hung up the phone. They wouldn't do anything. I even asked them to send me a letter stating that they failed to pay the taxes on time and it wasn't our fault, so I could send the letter to the credit rating agencies. They refused to send a letter or reduce the interest rate. I went on line and found a law firm in Atlanta that specialized in suing credit card companies. The attorney said that if I would send him $350.00 he would file suit in federal court in Atlanta and that chase would have to pay the legal fees. I asked what could be done about the tax lien. He said I could collect a maximum of $1,000 plus the $350.00 filing fee but there was nothing that could be done about the tax lien. Even though the taxes were paid our credit report will show a lien was filed for the next 7 years. The officers of chase should be in prison. I went to the bank and borrowed the money to pay off the credit card and we refinanced with another company. Anyone with chase can go to hell, straight to hell and do not pass go.
