  1. I have always heard that the color white was cooler than any other color. Has anyone experienced the difference in a white helmet other than black or any other color helmet as far as heat is concerned. I'm just wondering if it is enought difference to notice.
  2. A Pennsylvania woman is facing insurance fraud charges after authorities say she worked as a stripper while collecting worker's compensation payments. The state Attorney General's office said 43 year old Christina Gamble of Quakertown collected thousands of dollars in insurance payments while working at C.R. Fanny's Gentlemen's Club and Sports Bar. I wonder how many times the insurance adjuster had to visit C.R. Fanny's to observe the evidence?
  3. A lot of people install the leveling links and are very happy with them. I put them on my bike about a year ago and didn't like it. The bike definitely looks better but I was uncomfortable and my wife was uncomfortable so I took them off.
  4. I've had the mic mutes for a year and my wife and I just got back from a trip to North Carolina. I can't imagine using the intercom without the mic mute. When we activate the mics to talk the road noise is awful. If I had to listen to the road noise all the time it would be unbearable. God bless the mic mutes.
  5. Cruel but true.

    Insurance cost

Hey DAKn2, Last month one of my motorcycle insureds called and said that Allstate had a lower rate on his bike than my company. I asked to quote his auto and he agreed. He was paying 1200.00 per six months on his two autos with allstate but Progessives rate was 605.00. They were lower on the motorcycle but raping him on his car insurance. If I were you I would get a quote on your auto and home with other companies. It wasn't this insured but I insured a house last month and they were paying 1,600 per year with allstate but I gave the same coverage for 725.00 per year. They should have a lower rate on motorcycles because they are making up for it by raping people on their auto and home.

Hey Eldermo, You better check your policy. There ain't no way you have full coverage with a 250 deductible for 75.00 per year. Most companies have a 75.00 minumum premium for liability only. Also, what do you consider full coverage. I won't believe it until I see the policy.
  8. Good point. You need to know what is causing the problem. You can buy a new battery like I did and have it go dead in a few weeks. Over the years I have found it is less expensive to find the problem before you start replacing parts.
  9. I dont' know how to check it but I had the same problem and it was the rectifier. I had the same battery for 5 years and let it set for about 3 days without riding and battery was dead. Got new battery and it was fine unless I let bike set for 2 or 3 days. Took battery back and got a new one to replace it at no charge. Battery was fine until l let bike set for 2 or 3 days and it went dead. Bought a battery tender. As long as I kept on the battery tender it was ok but one day I rode to work and after work got on bike and it wouldn't start. I took my bike to the dealer and they replaced the rectifier under warranty and I haven't had any problems since.
  10. You don't have to cut the wires to the speakers. With the adapter there is a plug for the 5pin connector and a plug for the earbuds. I have the chatterbox system where there are wires that run from the mike to the speakers in the helmet. The sound of the earbuds is so much better I didn't need the speakers mounted in my helmet. Plus I can use any helmet with the earbuds because there are no speakers to mount in the helmet.
  11. I bought two of the edset adpaters, one for me and one for my wife. They are excellent for using earbuds. I cut the wires to the speakers of my headset so I can use any helmet now. In the winter I use a 3/4 helmet and summer a half helmet. I just clip the mike boom with my intercom to the side of my helmet and plug in the earbuds. The sound quality is 100% better plus with the earbuds you block out a lot of the road noise.
  12. I bought the yamaha cover 4 years ago. At first it was hard to get on after a few times I got the hang of it and can put it on with no problem. It's hard to explain how it figured how to put it on but here it goes. I put one side over the gas cap and hold it in place with my left thumb and index finger. While holding one side on I just go around the edge with my other hand and it goes right on. Kinda like putting a tire on a rim. You start one edge and then go around.
  13. I bought a pair of earbuds at walmart for 19.95. I don't know the name brand but they are round and flat. The quality of sound is excellent but I do get wind noise with my half helmet. After reading this post today I went to staples and bought a pair of skull candy earbuds. The skull candy buds do block a lot more of the noise but the sound quality of the walmart buds is much better. The sound of the walmart buds is much deaper and the stereo sound is excellent. The sound of the skull candy buds isn't as deep and quite the quality of the walmart however I will probably use the skull candy buds with my half helmet.
  14. Hey Lewis, Glad to hear Charlene is doing good. Hope she has a full recovery soon.
  15. I had the same problem last year after washing my bike. The fuel pump was bad.
  16. My wife and I rode our bike to Key West in 2006. I am glad I went but I don't have any desire to go back. My feet and legs would cook while I was riding around trying to find a parking space.
  17. Doesn't ruffle my feathers, but I do wonder who is idiotic. I fail to see how someone talking about how fast they can go on a straight away or in twisties has anything to do with a cager failing to yield, running a stop sign or as happened to me last week, pulling over into my lane has anything to do with it.
  18. Jean, I'm sorry to hear about Earl's back problem. I met Earl last year at maintainence day and I knew talking with him he is, as we say in the south, "good folks". Tell Earl not to worry about getting parts out and repairing bikes, but to concentrate of getting well again. Prayers are on the way. Please keep us posted on his condition. Sincerely, Eddie
  19. I emailed Bill Morphy at mic mutes sunday afternoon regarding my problem with the intercom coming on each time I hit a bump in the road and my having to hold the ptt button until I finished talking. Monday morning I had a reply from him that stated the problem was probably within the 12 volts or ground source to the control box and that most often a poor contact inside the fuse holder was the problem. He suggested opening the fuse holder and cleaning the contact on the wire ends where they contacted the fuse ends. I did that and now my mic mute is working fine. Bill is a class act and I would recommend the mic mutes to everyone.
  20. Rode to Jacksonville yesterday. First time using intercom since getting new fairing under warranty and I also have the mic mute. Everytime I hit a bump in the road the intercom would activate. I would have to hit the ptt button to disengage the intercom. Also with the mic mute you hit the ptt button once and the intercom in engaged until you hit the ptt button again to disengage it but now you have to hold the ptt button continously until you are finished talking and then release the ptt button to disengage. What's up with dat? While the dealer had the bike installing the new fairing I asked him to put dielectric grease on all the connections while they had the fairing off. Is is possible they reconnected the mic mute in the wrong connector and caused this are is something else going on? Thanks for your suggestions. Also, thanks Ruffy for the m & e in Jacksonville. Food was excellent.
  21. The only way to be 100% sure is to talk to the claims department of your insurance company. If they say it would be covered, get them to send you a letter stating that it would be covered. Just getting a verbal answer wouldn't do anygood in the event of an accident'
  22. One more thing. Someone on here posted last year that they called yamaha USA and were told they were going to be surprised at the new features on the new venture. I can't remember the number of people that talked to dealers and got a different store. Don't believe it. Even yamaha USA was wrong with what they told someone.
  23. I have had more than one dealer tell me that yamaha is the most secretive of any cycle mfg. A retired dealer from wisconsin that moved to Florida said Japan doesn't discuss the new models until they are ready to introduce them. He also said that the executives from Japan don't listen to the dealers or ask for their input. The venture is not a big seller for yamaha.
  24. All of this is speculation. No one in the US knows anything about the 2011 venture, even the president of yamaha US and no one in the US will know until Japan lets them know before the dealer meetings.
  25. If you buy a wing you need to save money for repairs. If you have something done after warranty it will cost you a fortune. The techs have to remove all the plastic just to get where you can work on it.
