Well, at least the guy with yamaha was honest. He's the first one I have heard from that was honest in saying no one will know until yamaha introduces the 2011 line up. As far as inventory, the new models are introduced every september so yamaha won't be waiting another 90 days before they introduce the new models. From what I have heard from many former and current dealers that are honest, yamaha is arrogant. They don't listen to are care what the dealers say and suggest.

Years ago you didn't see many motorcycles on the road so I waved at everyone. It was kind of special to see a cycle among the many autos. Today there are so many motocycles on the road it has become a PITA to wave at all of them. I wish everyone would stop the waving. When someone waves at me I feel obligated to wave back. When my wife and I are riding in the mountains I tell her she will have to be the one to wave for us. I have my mind on the curves and the road and cars and don't won't to be distracted having to look at the oncoming bikes to wave.

I posted a thread on harley tech talk. Somone on there by the name of Tsani in south new jersey replied." Gee yamaduck ain't kicked his butt yet? Another reply came from hotroadking and he evidently comes on this site. He had all of the post we have made here on the harley site. Very interesting.

I trailer my 2gen a lot. I use 18" soft ties arount the triple tree and rachet ties to secure it. I never tie down the back of the bike. I don't know what you could do under normal driving conditions to get the back of the bike to move. It is too heavy. I wouldn't be comfortable tieing to the crash bars. The bend too easily.

On a trip longer than the oil change interval. That's even worse. I would have the oil changed before I went on the trip, even if it wasn't time.

Being in a business that deals with the public, I am getting a bad attitude. If you knew you were going on a trip why would you wait until the day before to get your bike serviced? In my insurance agency I have people that are going to start a business and they will come in the day they need liability so they can get their business license and expect me to drop what I am doing to quote their coverage. I stay extremely busy and can't put off other customers for someone that has know for at least three months they were going to start a business but wait until the last day to get insurance. With the dealer I could understand if it was an emergency but if I had promised service to other people I couldn't see making them wait to do an oil change. As far as harley dealers there are just as many bad ones as good ones. Two friends of mine were riding in Texas last April. The shifter came loose on the ultra classic and it started sleeting. They stopped at a harley dealer and the guy with the shifter problem pulled up to the door of the shop and asked if they could help him get his shifter back on. They said no they were booked. He then said he had wrenches and lock tite in his saddlebag so they could just let him pull in and get out of the sleet and he could fix it himself. The service manager said no, he didn't have room for him. My other friend was inside the dealership and had over $200.00 worth of harley clothing he was just starting to pay for when my other friend came in and told him to put it back they weren't going to buy anything from them. I have a friend that works for motorola corp. Our sheriff's department bought a harley as an experiment and was going to buy more if it worked out. The sheriff's department asked my friend with motorola if he would meet the deputy at the harley dealership to help them install the radio. My friend met the deputy the next day and said he was shocked at how rude the service manager was to the deputy. He said the service manager talked to the deputy like he was a dog. When they had finished the radio installation and were leaving the deputy looked at my friend and said, If I didn't have my sheriff department uniform on I would whup the service managers ass. How stupid can a dealer be?

This reminded me of a funny but true story. When my youngest son was a small child the doctor gave us some suppositories to give him. My wife and daughter were trying to um, install the suppoitory but my son was kicking and fighting so hard they couldn't complete the mission, so I was called in. While they held him down I installed the suppository and all was ok. The next day my daughter was going to wal mart, she was old enough drive, and she asked my son if he wanted to go with her. Now picture this. They were at the check out and my small son looked up at my daughter and said, I hope my daddy doesn't try to stick that thing up my butt again tonight. My daughter almost died. She said oh my god, lets get out of here before we are arrested. My son is 21 years old now and we still get a good laugh everytime we think about this.

I just sprayed an electrical cleaner into the ptt switch. I didn't take it apart.
-
Hey RJD, That's the problem I had with mine. When I would hit a bump it would activate and I would have to press the ptt button for it to go off. I emailed Bill @ mic mutes and he suggested I clean the connectors where the fuse is. I cleaned them and sprayed will electrical cleaner and I also sprayed my ptt switch with the electrical spray and now the mic mute works fine.
-
Try this and see if it helps. Take the mic mute connection apart where the fuse is and clean the connections good. It may not work but it is worth the try. I had a problem with my mic mute and doing this corrected my problem.

Do you have yamaha roadside assistance? You could call and they will tell you the nearest dealer that is open today.

Very bad. I had an insured a few months ago that was behind a tractor trailer. A pickup was in front of the tractor trailer. All of a sudden the tractor trailer swerved into the right lane. The motorcyclist was looking at the top of a smoker grill that was in the back of the pickup and blew off into the road. The cyclist went down. Lost one finger, had broken ribs and road rash. He was lucky he wasn't killed. It makes me nervous riding behind or meeting trucks with a load.

seriously considering a Valkyrie Interstae

It could have been the rider or it could have been the bike or it could have been the way the rider entered the curve. Saturday I was riding with my wife on the back of my 05 venture. Two other bikes two up were in the lead. A victory and a goldwing. We were in the mountains of NC. We went into a 90 degree curve that kept turning. I scrubbed my floorboard and kept leaning. I finally crossed the yellow line before I got back into my lane. The other oncoming lane was a two lane so I could see there weren't any vehicles coming or I would have had to lean more. Could have been ugly. I went into the curve too fast. Made sure that didn't happen again. My brother in law who was in front of me on his goldwing said he heard my floorboards scrub. -
There were some problems with the 08 ultra. I have several friends that bought 08's. One friend bought a screamin eagle 08 ultra. He traded it for a street glide after one year. Said it stayed in the shop more than he rode it. He said there was a recall for a problem with the heads. He spent $5,000 trying to get the screamin eagle so his wife could ride without burning her legs.

A control for 2 up riding, so the bike won't start until pressure is on both seats. If you are too dumb to remember if your passenger in on the bike it is time to quit riding. You are too dangerous. I wouldn't want to ride any where near someone that stupid.

Linux won't do me any good when the insurance companies I do business with don't use it.

I posted a few weeks ago about the fake malware that says your computer is infected and it immediately starts scanning. It locked up my computer twice and I couldn't get into my registry to delete it. I thought if you had a firewall and anti virus program your computer would be ok but that isn't the case. You also need to run one or two spyware programs frequently. I have four different spyware and malware programs and each one will pickup up something the others don't. I can clean my computer of any vicous programs and within a few days the fake malware will pop up again. One day the malware popped up stating my computer was infected and I hit control alt delete and killed it. It popped up 9 more times. Each time I would control alt delete and kill it. It's a constant battle keeping the fake malwares out.

I've had a clearview shield with vent for 4 years and wouldn't go back to a shield without one. I've never had a problem with bugs coming through the vent. It's rare for a bug to come through and when it does it lands on my chest. I rode my bike through alligator alley and the bugs where terrible but I didn't have a problem with them coming through the vent although you couldn' hardly see through my windshield. I can't tell you anything about installing a vent as my clearview came with the vent installed.

Smart move Randya. A couple of years ago one of my insureds ran over a ladder in the road in his van. It did $8,0000 damage.

Yamaha hasn't advertised the venture in the past, they arent' going to start now. The venture is such a small part of their sales they won't spend advertising money on it.

One of my insureds was riding his bike a few weeks ago and he was behind a semi truck. A pickup was in front of the semi with a smoker grill on the back. The lid of the smoker flew off. The semi swerved into the right lane and all of a sudden the motorcyclist was looking at a steel smoker lid in front of him. He hit it and went down. Lost his little finger on one hand, cracked ribs and bruised pretty bad. Will be out of work for a while. The pickup driver had mininum liability, $25,000, but my insured didn't want uninsured/underinsured motorist. You know, looking for the "cheapest rate". He wishes he had it now. Anytime I see a truck with something in the back, a truck with ladders on the top or a log truck I drop back and get around it as soon as I can.

Us yamaha owners don't interpret the word "surprised" the same as yamaha. We think O boy an updated venture. Yamaha means you'll be surprised because they didn't make any changes.

Only people that live in Oregon can answer your question. I don't know what PIP is. We had a no fault law in Georgia in the 1970's and PIP was a part of the no fault law. There was more to PIP than medical payments. The figures showed that sixty cents of every dollar paid for liability claims went to lawyers so with the no fault law your company paid your medical expense, loss of time from work, essential services benefits and even a death benefit regardless of who was at fault. The other persons PIP paid them regardless of who was at fault. This was supposed to save money by keeping the lawyers out of every claim. The law was repealed in 1985 because the cost went up instead of going down. Why? There was a threshold where lawyers couldn't sue but if the threshold was exceeded lawyers could still sue. The threshold was so low, lawyers figured how to exceed it. For example, if your medical bills were more than $500.00 you could sue. Didn't take the lawyers long to get you to go to the choiropractor until you exceeded $500.00. If you were disabled for one day you could sue. So, the no fault law didn't do what it was supposed to do. The legislature tried to increase the threshold to stop so many law suits but guess what? The legislature is mostly lawyers so the law didn't have a chance and was replealed so in Georgia we're back to suing. So, unless you live in Oregon and know what the PIP covers you can't give accurate advice but being in the insurance business for 37 years my first thought would be to get the maximum coverage you can get.

I'll say it again. No one knows not even the factory reps. Go back and look up past threads about this subject and you will see where someone called yamaha usa and the rep told them, "you're going to be surprised with the new venture." That was when the 08 or 09 models were due to be out.
