Thanks for all the replys. I was surprised our provider called also. I've never had that happen. Our city water, gas and light utility provides our service through their fiber optic lines. We also use their service for our voip phone service. The speed and service from them has been excellent. The only problem is you have to live in the city limits to get their service so I can't get it at home.

Never mind. Found the problem. At the time our upload spiked my wife was trying to send an email with picutres to my daughter and the computer was continually trying to send the pictures. Once she cancelled the email the upload activity went down to norma.

Our internet provider just called and said our upload activity had spiked since 11:00am and asked if we were doing anything different. We asked what would cause this as we are just doing business as usual. He said it could be a virus. Anyone know what might cause this and how would you find out what is causing this?

I was at a yamaha dealer yesterday and they have one of the new Raider SCLs. WOW, that is one good looking bike. If I could afford another bike in addition to my venture or if I only rode one up I would buy that bike in a heart beat. I went of yamaha's web site this morning and they have a video of the bike but it looks so much better in person. Yamaha is only making 500 of these. Wish I had one.

I've trailered my 05 rsv many miles. Tie down the front like dunsonaventure said except there is no need to tie down the rear. The bike is so heavy the rear isn't going anywhere and besides there is no way to tie it down that would hold.

Thought I wanted a goldwing but took my brother-in-laws for a ride. Didn't like it. My wife rode with me and she didn't like it.

Insurance company haters here is something to make your day. LOL Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley announced setlements on Monday with three additional insurers-- Travelers, Fireman's Fund and Electric Insurance-- for allegedly overcharging policyholders. Fifteen insurance companies in total have now settled with Coakley and agreed to return close to $40 million to Massachusetts consumers, including more than $5.6 million in additional insurance refunds for Massachusetts motorcycle owners. "We are pleased that our investigation, which began with a single consumer complaint, has resulted in the return of nearly $40 million to Massachusetts motorcycle owners," Coakley said. "We are very concerned that the auto insurers in this state were abble to overcharge so many Massachusetts consumers on such a large scale." Monday's three settlements resolve allegations that the insurance companies illegally overcharged state consumers for years by using un-depreciated and inflated motorcycle values to calculate insurance premiums. Coakley's office reached similar settlements with 12 other insurance companies last year. As a part of the newst settlements, Premier Insurance Company of Massachusetts refunded $5,000,386, American Automobile Insurance Company will refund $571,394 and Electric Insurance Company will return $123,882 to policyholders in the state. The three insurance companies are also required to collectively send out more than 14,000 refund checks in late October, with an average refund of approximately $400. According to Coakley's office, 1,424 refund checks will be over $1,000, 2,031 refund checks will be between $501 and $1,000, 2,627 refund checks will be between $251 and $500, 3,579 refund checks will be between $100 and $250 and 4,488 refund checks will be under $100. The 15 settlements stem from a consumer complaint filed with Coakley's office from a consumer who owned a 1999 harley-Davidson road King Classsic. The consumer's premiums were alledgedly calculated as if the motorcycle was brand new and worth $20,000 price. By 2008 the nine year old motorcycle was worth less than $12,000. Despite this, each year between 2003 and 2008 the consumer's insurance company allegedly used the inflated $20,000 value to rate the poicy, resulting more than $1,500 in overcharges.

Illinois could be different but in 38 years as an insurance agent I have never heard of a homeowner policy covering the bike. There is an exclusion stating motorized vehicles licensed for road use are not covered by the homeowner. The homeowner policy isn't designed to cover motor vehicles, that's why there are auto and motorcycle polices.

balancing tires, dumb question
ediddy replied to ediddy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks for the replies. The reason I asked is I had two new venoms installed on 9/7. This morning as I was walking to the garage I saw the tire weight on the ground. I haven't had a chance to see if it came off the front or rear tire. -
Let me tell you a funny story. A few years ago there was an independent cycle shop here. Several of us would meet there three or four days a week to talk motorcycles. There were harley, metric and an iron horse chopper rider. One day the cell phone of one of my harley buddies rang. He almost broke his neck getting to the door. On the way out he shouted, "Wille G was on the way to Daytona bike week and his bike broke down, he's here in Albany at the harley shop anyone want to go.? Everyone left but me. I wouldn't mind seeing Wille G but I wasn't going to break my neck to see him. Willie G and the head engineer for harley were on their way to Daytona and Willie's bike broke down. I didn't laugh but I thought, this is not the kind of advertising I would want if I had a harley. You know Willie has to have the best tricked out harley you can get and he broke down. All of us metric owners gave those harley riders pure hell for many weeks. One of my harley friends had a fat boy and he has $40,000 in it. He had every piece of chrome and engine work you can do to a bike. It does look good. He had a problem with it pulling to the left. As everyone talked to Willie and the engineer they were asked how they liked their harley. My friend said he had a problem with his fat boy pulling to the left. The engineer asked if he could ride the bike and my friend said sure. The engineer came back and said nice bike, but you're right it pulls to the left and walked off. My friend was furious.

A good web site that will send you weekly topics on diabetes is: www.dlife.com.

Hey Venturous, I hope you get your eyes back to normal again soon. Thanks for the warning about diabetes. It is a dangerous disease as it affects every part of your body. Also, if you have diabestes you are at the same risk for a heart attack or stroke as someone that has already had one. I have type 2 and it is a struggle to eat right. After three general practicioners I went to a endocronologist last week. I found that most regular MDs don't know how to treat diabetes. My A1C was 6.3 which is excellent but it has been up to 9. Keeping your weight to normal levels and regular exercise are as important as insulin or medication. I hate to exercise but I accepted the fact that I am going to have to do it. My daughters best friend is a registered diabetes dietician and she can show you some horror stories about people that didn't take care of themselves. It scares me to see them. We are bombarded with commercials showing us the latest increased size hamburger or ice cream or pie everytime we turn on the tv. Even if you don't have diabetes, what we eat is killing us. Almost everything has high fructose corn syrup, genetically modified grain or is sprayed with chemicals. Everyone should watch what they eat.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabestes in 2008. I bought a schwin airdyne and currently do 30 minutes per day 5 days a week. 30 minutes is usually 10 miles. This is fine for cardio but you need some strength training also. I think riding a bike would require more strength training than cardio. I'm thinking about going to the gym 3 days a week for strenght training. I think riding a bike as heavy as the venture or rstd would require working out your leg muscles more than anything but I want to increase the strength in my arms also. My total cholestrerol is fine but my LDL is a little high. I've had two doctors prescribe a statin drug but they get upset with me because I won't take it. If my LDL goes down but my kidney function and liver is damaged because of taking the statin I don't want it. Most doctors today are over prescribing drugs because they are being pushed by the drug companies to prescribe drugs.

Dont go to the ER. Get to an optomologist immediately. Don't delay. One sunday morning my wife's vision in her left eye went blank. We went to the emergency room at approx 10:00am. They ran all kind of test that didn't have anything to do with her eyes. EKG, MRI etc. They then wanted to keep her overnight. The next day at 4:00pm after running every expensive test you can think of they decided to send her to an optomologist. The optomologist said she had a detached retina and it was urgent to get it corrected immediatley. He said the longer you wait the greater chance you won't get your sight back. He called a specialist from Tallahassee Florida and scheduled her for surgery the next morining. This surgery is so specialized even an optomologist can't do the surgery. The surgery went well and she got all of her sight back. Don't waste your time in the ER with regular medical doctors. Please, please get to an optomologist immediately.

I go on a harley web site weekly. There have been a lot of problems with stators. But that's not all. A couple of years ago the crankshafts were cracking. It was so bad the harley guys were saying the cranks were made out of silly putty. The attitude of the dealers has changed some but there are still many that think they are doing you a favor selling you one of their bikes.

My wife and were in Cherokee North Carolina in May. We checked into a motel and a guy came up on a touring spyder from the state of Washington. He said he had been on the road for three weeks and was going to ride the Tail of The Dragon the next day and then head down to Florida and then start back to Washington. I told him to be careful on the dragon and I told him the curves would sneek up on you. He said he wasn't an agressive driver but the spyder's suspension would automatically adjust and keep the wheels on the ground. He said over the years he had three goldwings and two goldwing trikes and said they couldn't compare to the spyder. I've never ridden one so can't say but he said he would never have anything but a spyder.

A lot of drivers in Georgia have figured out how to beat the system. They buy insurance and pay a down payment and never make another payment. When this happens they get a letter for DMV stating their insurance cancelled and they must pay a $25.00 fee to the local tag office and show proof of insurance. If they ignore this notice they will get another one in 90 days stating their registration for the vehicle has been suspended and they must pay $85.00 to reinstate the registration. They wait until it's time to renew their tag and they pay the $85.00 fee to reinstate the registration and pay a down payment on insurance and start the cycle over again. It's cheaper to pay the fees than the insurance. There's one thing that can throw a "monkey wrench" in this system. If they get stopped for a traffic violation and don't have insurance the vehicle is towed and they can't get it back until they have insurance and pay the fees. The only problem is the people with insurance have to pay.

Thanks for the help. I had a blown 5 amp fuse located in the cowling and like V7goose said the backup fuse at the left side cover was blown.

I have an 05 venture. When I set the clock to the correct time and turn the ignition switch off the clock resets to 1:00. It has never done this before. Any suggestions how to correct this? Thanks,

I turn the channel everytime a geico commerical comes on. They think they have to have stupid commericals to sell insurance. Everytime I think they have reached the plateau for being stupid they go a little higher. If I had insurance with them I would change.

Money is not the root of all evil. The love of money is the root of all evil. Next, it seems everyone today is born offended. I am not an atheist but I don't go complaining here when someone says they are. If you are an atheist you don't have to answer a prayer request, ignore it. But don't make people that are religious stop praying because you don't pray. Some people need to get a life.
