I found it. Let it sit and get hot. Nothing. Took for a 10 minute ride. Nothing. Let idle another 5 minutes and shut it off and it poured out of the bottom corner of the radiator. Emptied the overflow and stopped again. Don't know why it wouldn't completely empty the rad from where its leaking. Maybe if I rode it far enough it would. Got another rad on the way. Thanks for all the input. Now I know a few things to look out for in the future.
Could I have hoses mixed up. There is a small one straight up from top of the tank and little bigger one just under the cap. I have the bigger one to the radiator and small one as a drain under the bike. Is that correct?
Checked the coolant flow. I have flow both ways, but if this works like a car should I gave flow before it warms up in the run position? I have flow immediately in either position.
The AF goes all over my right leg and foot if I'm riding it. By the time I shut it off, can't tell exactly where its coming from. If it were the impeller, wouldn't it overheat?
Yep. If you're referring to the valve that is set at 2:00 position. It's just weird.Put 20 miles on it after it emptied, let cool down a little, radiator still full. Fill overflow to line, empties after it gets warmed up.
I have a 1983 Venture that I finally got running right thanks to all the help on here. Now I have a coolant leak. Gets hot, empties the overflow but radiator stays full. I don't get it. No cracks in hoses, doesn't run hot just won't keep fluid in the overflow. Any thoughts?
Yes, I have done the seafoam. These carbs were real clean, supposedly all gone through and came with the bike. Haven't tried adjusting the pilot screws yet as have been working late but did notice the tamper plugs are not there so maybe they are not adjusted right. Have a 3 day weekend this week. We'll find out. Thanks for the input and the link.
OK. I'll give that a try. Other than the starting problem it seems fine, for a poor bike that sat outside in Michigan on a trailer for 3 years. Thanks.
My bike that I have been working on since last fall won't start after sitting all night without some carb cleaner or starting fluid shot into the airbox, then she fires right up. Have tried everything. The carbs are Vmax carbs that I rejected with stock carb jets. Didn't want to start hot, like it was out of time until I put a new starter on it. Now she'll fire as long as there is a little heat in the motor. Would also like to thank everyone on this site for all the info. Wouldn't be this far without it.
