  1. Looks really nice Good job
  2. 12k+ on my Avons I like the way they handle and could most likely get more but so far, I seem to always change them at 12. The front I am pretty sure could go quite a few more but if I change one, I will change the other. By the way, I am religious about checking the air pressure min once a week (more if the temp changes by a big margin)
  3. Short-Haul, if you are bidding this, I will not. I was thinking I might put a hitch on but not a top priority.
  4. When I 1st purchased my 07, one of the 1st things I did was install the risers. I slid them in and I did not purchase longer cables. There should be enough slack so you don't need the longer cables but I suppose it does depend on how they were routed. I had them on my bike for over two years and did not have any issues. I now put TD bars on my RSMV and love the fact they are much wider. I did replace the cables to do this but well worth the extra $$ as far as comfort for me on long hauls.
  5. Pretty darn chilly down here but the sun is shining so we have a lot to be thankful for. Would enjoy the snow mobiles but if I remember correctly......it is very cold to ride them things!
  6. Like a few before me, leave them on to be seen if nothing else. I had mine installed the day I bought my bike and I never turn them off.
  7. I run the Show Chrome short and love it. If I didn't know better I would go as far as stating that my bike seems to handle better as it is not catching as much wind. I do believe it does cause "a little" additional buffeting for the passenger. It about has to under certain circumstances. My worth
  8. Trailer if it works for you. My wife can not ride for much more than 250 per day and I like to ride 500+ a day if I am going a distance. How we handle this is, I fly her to my destination and I ride. Once there we can tour around most of the days and enjoy. I will fly her home and then I can ride the distance home. This works well for us as I like to put in lot's of miles per day and I have her there at the end point. Best of both worlds. If I did not have the $ to fly her, I would consider a trailer. I do see quite a few of HD's though. Why....I am unsure.
  9. Have fun, be safe. I take some long rides and I always drink quite a bit of water if the weather is hot but it looks like you are in good shape this time of year. Take a snack and bottled water just in case you have a flat in a remote location. 750 miles......you must be heading to Texas!
  10. Let me throw in a pitch for this area. I rode to Asheville from here in Texas last month. Great area to ride. I left June 20th and eased up the Natchez Trace PKWY to Shilo TN. Checked out the Civil War park (really interesting if you have never been) then on to Knoxville. My wife arrived on the 21st and rode through the Smoky MTs to Asheville. We rode all around the area on & off the PKWY for several days before I returned home to Texas. The weather was great, lot's of bikes, very nice people, and the roads were fantastic! I rode the Dragon on my way home and would like to throw in a pitch for the Cherohala Skyway. This is a great roadway that Winds up and over 5,400 foot mountains for 15 miles in North Carolina and descending another 21 miles into the deeply forested backcountry of Tennessee. The road crosses through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests thus the name "Chero...hala". It has great long, sweeping corners and scenic views. Check it out while you are in the area.
  11. I would like 2 as well. Let me know to send the $$$
  12. I place Barons risers on my RSMV. Nice change. I ran with this setup for a year or so. If on a budget and want the bars back, not a bad way to go. Only issue I had was the hard rubber slots under the fairing was not resting on the bars as they are designed to. I then put RTD stock bars on. Great way to go as far as I am concerned. Wider, bars come back to me. They should put this setup on as stock as it makes all the difference. Only issue with this is the 12V plug on the left side in not usable as the bars cover this area. No problem, I placed an outlet on the left side under the seat.
  13. Tom, I hope you mapped your route on Rt 7 in Arkansas. I think that is the way I am headed as it looks interesting. I also am ready to go and it is only June
  14. Run Avons with the correct air pressure and you will solve this issue.
  15. I wax mine. Have for years on all my vehicles. I have even used Pledge when I am cleaning the bike and have sprayed onto the windshield as well. No problems.
  16. I am sure I will receive quite a bit of grief about this but................try 29. It works for me
  17. For sure, everyone appreciates what you are doing to put this on. thanks in advance and see ya there in August!
  18. I am headed to the Blue Ridge, Natchezs Trace roadways in June. Hope to fine some sun and fine roads to ride.
  19. Man I will trade you with a little of this 90 degree VERY DRY weather right now for some your rain. Three days of each seems like a fair deal. You will get some riding time and I will get the badly needed water.
  20. Goose, I am headed the other direction, toward the Gap and the Asheville NC area. If you keep riding and end up over on the east side, holler. Jim
  21. I placed the same short shield on my 07. Love it, I think the bike handles better in the wind as well.
  22. # 1. Passing Lamps ( I do think it helps to be seen) LED Tail Light & LED HD Lights Back Rest TD handlebars Short Windshield Lower Wind Deflectors Stebel Horn
  23. Glad to have another fellow Texan on board. You get down Austin way, let me know.
  24. Well Gary, sorry you did not get to ride today. Down here it turned out to be a very pretty afternoon after a little rain that ended about 10:00 AM and then turned sunny and about 70. I am coming your way the mid June. I hope it warms up a bit before I get there.
  25. I believe the Zumo 450 has everythiing except the Bluetooth
