I have 2 different smart chargers. one is from sears and its 2 amp in twelve volts or 4 amps in 6 volts. With this charger in 2 amp mode, my battery boils over and drips acid. the other is from harley and it puts out 3/4 of any amp. this one does not boil the battery over.

Ill give the barons kit with the relocation kit a thumbs up. install was medium and having a second person to help was useful. I went back and addedd an oring to the pivot arm to keep it aligned during install. with out the oring, my brakes were rubbing from an out of alignment brake arm.

hitch mounted luggage rack
speakerfritz replied to speakerfritz's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
so I recieved the rack. assembled it fairly easy. hmm....the rack sits pretty close to the exhuast flow.....there goes the thought of using it for medium sized luggage. good concept...but in metro areas there are a lot of stop and goes...dont think the wife would like her clothes to smell like exhaust fumes. back to thinking of a small trailer -
Time for Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery discussion
speakerfritz replied to BlueSky's topic in General Tech Talk
from personal experience....... they sometimes need a warmup load.....sometimes 2 start attempts are needed...first one wakes up the battery...second one starts the bike. they do not handle overcharging well -
the current titled owner can request a replacement title. that current titled owner would have to transfer to subsequent owners and each transfer will likley involve a sales tax transaction to the host state at the time of transaction. eventually, the title will catch up to the current seller and once he titles it and clears the sales tax for the transaction, he can sell it to your brother. if there is a lein listed on the title now, a lein release letter will be needed.

Harbor Freight tool report

As far as tools from HF, only lesson learned for me is that the China made tools are almost one time use whereas the Taiwan made tools are just as good as craftsman, kobolt, husky, dewalt, etc. -

cooling is really weak
speakerfritz replied to Black wing's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
see chapter 5 on how to test your 25 year old cooling system. my bet would be the thermost...but go thru all the tests. My second guess would be the radiator is full of crud from 25 years of use. http://www.yamahaventure.nl/1999-Royal-Star-TF-Service-Manual.pdf -

Stock Air Box
speakerfritz replied to aholloway17's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The two hoses that end near the intake are not to be connected to the airbox...they need to be free air hung....they are used by the float bowls. -
Left on side of road AGAIN
speakerfritz replied to Mikealiasmike's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
drain the gas and float bowls......you may have water in the system. -
couple of factors to consider a. can your electrical system provide the additional power for the higher power amp? b. try to find high power speakers that have high SPL. a speaker with 90db spl powered by a 10watt amp will sound just as loud as a speaker with 80db spl powered by an 80watt amp at the same volume level. Folks incorrectly shop for watts, they should be shoping for speaker spl or the speaker sensitivity rating.

Unplanned Venture owner
speakerfritz replied to Ed S, SE Nebr's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
drain and flush all the fluids...gas, brake fluid...all oils...etc. good that you ahve a new battery when you get it running...check the battery charge voltage....there might be a reason why it was parked. if you are in a flood zone, due to sandy, check fuses and relays for corrossion. -

yes, has lights and plate mount http://www.mchitch.com/cooler%20rack.htm -
check your local laws, in NYC you need a firewarms license to own an air gun. You can not fire it in your back yard if you are within 500yds of a residence, buisness, pedestrian traffic, etc. Ths includes the soft air guns that shoot plastic balls at 200fps which you can buy in any Dicks sporting goods outside of NYC which are labeled must be 12yrs old to operate. Can not have a sling shot either like the type sold in some harbor freight stores. You can own a crossbow though, you just cant fire it if the locaity rules above apply. I thin styrofoam dart guns that you can buy at toys are us are also in viloation...so don't pack one of those on your next bike road trip. Paint ball guns, forgetabloutit

was debating on a small tow behind trailer. but in thinking about it.....all I really need is a way to carry a medium size weekend bag for the wife. came across a hitch mounted rack that can hold a cooler or luggage and pulled the trigger on it. figure the weekend bag on the rack would probally be less than the tounge weight of a loaded trailer. so hitch in hand, wiring solution close, and rack is on the way.
