Very cool! Good keyboard & guitar work.. vocals, composition, all of it. Very well done!! You have every reason to be proud of them. So, are we gonna get a vr.org discount on the CDs????? And they would be available when?

I would have been sort of inclined to go along with it, right up to when I saw the tripmeter on the truck speedo. No way there's that much coincedence for both odo & trip meters to show all sixes AND ditto on the bike? Hmmmmmm! I smell salmon. (then again, I don't know what the wife is fixin for dinner)

Interesting, but I would be concerned if they wanted to use it for anything other than car to motorcycle. If they included car to car, I think there is a real risk of information overload for car drivers, I mean, picture all the vehicles in NYC with it installed and active. You'd go nuts driving around the block. Still interesting though!

Congratulations for sure, guys! Many more ahead is my wish for you.

I had some "misaprehensions" of my own (sorry I couldn't help myself). Don't fret, most of us have no problem being stupid...ahh, being made to feel stupid. No, wait.. we're all really smart; We just look stupid...Wait....Oh, nevermind! And for sure, we want only people with good motorcycles!!!! And shadows are still our friends Sorry man, just having a little fun with ya! Seriously, we are all really smart.....for real. Somebody help me out here.

Shadows are our friends......What?

The problem is as you, yourself said. You haven't seen the bike. Do you have any idea what kind of condition all those extra things are in? If someone you trust that is knowledgable has looked at it and said that stuff was OK, then you might be OK making the proposal to the insurance co. Also, if someone knowledgable has looked at it, you should be able to get a really good idea of exactly what damage there is AND be able to develop a cost to repair it. Before I broached the subject of your idea (taking parts off, etc.), I would find out the lowest dollar amount they would take for it, if you were to accept their offer and then buy the bike back from them. If the physical damage is within reason, if the cost to repair is likewise within reason and makes it worth the effort AND you actually wanted to go through the ordeal of rebuilding the bike...........it MIGHT be a win-win for you. But it will still be a salvage-rebuild 2006 model with 44k miles on it. That's not to say that is a bad thing, but that IS what it would be. If you can be happy with it that way....have at it! Just be VERY sure, in case something screws up after the fact...then you're stuck with it. I tend to lean toward your proposal! If as you indicated, the accessories you want are intact......cut a deal with them and take the stuff, the check and go but a new bike! Me thinking out load!!!! LOL....thought just struck me...If they'le let you take the parts (I'm not convinced they will, by the way), take them and the check for $15k and THEN ask them what they would take for the carcass!! Do this after you have the check in hand and the parts off the bike and in your posession. It wouldn't be worth much with all the stuff off of it, right? Then, buy a new bike anyway and part out the 06 for spare parts... It could happen!

With few exceptions, most humans have an inborn need to belong. To something; to someone, to share and be accepted complete with all their warts, preferably without a lot of preconditions. Witness your team sports, chess clubs, book clubs, bands, boyscouts, etc. Motorcyclists have a need to express their strong sense of individuality, independence and their overiding need for freedom. Riding fills the senses with many of the things that make life fun and worthwhile, as opposed to mundane and humdrum. There are other worthwhile things, mind you,...family, kids, grandkids, growing things, building with wood, etc., but they all lack the freedom and the sensations riding offers. And no, that dosn't say that those things are mundane and humdrum. They just don't deliver that visceral feeling we all know so well and love AND need so much. Now, combine the two and you have the potential for an irresistible force of nature in the form of a riders club or in this case club/forum. You have the bikes themselves as the catalyst....sharing information, experiences, etc. But this place IS unique because the members are special and unique! If I believed in coincedence, I would say it came about by accident. Truth is.....It doesn't matter! This group exists and is comprised of people who actually give a rip about their fellow man and prove their belief in (at a minimum) the "Golden Rule" and happen to love motorcycles. They implicitly understand that you can't go through life alone! They exemplify the best qualities of giving without reservation; their time, their space, their experience, abilities and sometimes their money and their possessions. AND always..their faith/prayer, emotion and friendship. I too came to learn about my bike, but quickly discovered Ventureriders.org is not your run of the mill, typical bike forum. These people are the way I try to be. I value and appreciate them and for me personally, that's plenty enough reason to stay. (besides, anybody that likes Dairy Queen can't be all that bad!) OK, I have the proverbial fork stuck in me, so I am done! That helped me understand better, hope it helps the young lady!

Has anyone had to run over truck tire?
autopilot replied to roadwarrior's topic in Safety and Education
Good grief....Do you still have insurance? And do I even want to know how much it costs? I realize they wouldn't have been your fault, but insurance companies don't like paying off THAT much...esp. for 1 person! Wow!- 20 replies

gibvel, Now that's what I love about this place. Pick a mundane problem like tethering a GPS and I knew somebody would have seen or used something that I didn't even think about. I have to look at them closely, but there may be a solution in there. Thanks

Neat gadget! The only problem for the c580 is that in order to use the gadget, I'd have to attach it some way to the case.....which is why I posted i the first place. So far my ideas have involved screws, or superglue and brackets of some kind. I even thought about supergluing the RAM base-ball mount to the socket on the back of the GPS; but that would prevent me from using it with a dash or windshield mount in the truck or car! And based on what I can remember of the old post I mentioned in my first post, tethering is still recommended, regardless of how secure the mount appears to be......SOOoo..we'll see what other kind of ideas come out of this. Methinks I'm not going to have much choice other than to screw something to it. We'll see.

Lowering a rstd
autopilot replied to veep1's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
For what it's worth, I also used the Baron's rear lowering kit and I had to send back a shosrty sidestand because it wasn't needed. In fact, in my garage, I put a brick under the stand to stand the bike up a bit for clearance around it. I'd like to lower the front as well but, I'm not quite brave enough yet to mess with the fork height in the triple clamps. Maybe over the winter..
