What the heck is that? A monument to hitchhiking??????? More important....what on earth would possess them to make a statue of it???? Every day's a winner....I am constantly amazed. Grandpagak......Just a little fun with powertools.

It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach. (Yeah, and about half that long to go straight to your Butt) One human hair can support 3 kg (6 lb). (I sleep on my head most of the time, so it's obvious a hair can support much more than that) The average man's penis is three times the length of his thumb. (That's not funny) Human thighbones are stronger than concrete. (OK) A woman's heart beats faster than a man's. (Well, they are trying to stay ahead of thumbs over there!) There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet. (obviously haven't seen MY feet) Women blink twice as often as men. (Nancy Pelosi blinks 4 times more often than women) The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain. (I discussed this with the mirror.....wiseguy said it closer to 3 or maybe 4! No I don't want to talk about it) Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still. (so why am I supposed to exercise?) (I use 300 muscles holding my head up) If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it. (there has to be something really wrong with that.....) Women reading this will be finished now. (I figure you lost them about item 1) Men who read this are probably still busy checking their thumbs. (Man, that is just wrong on so many levels)

Wondered if anyone caught this. They're looking at possibly going higher than that. Ran across this article.... http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/energy/2009-04-16-ethanol-epa_N.htm If I have to depend on "them" to determine that higher ethanol levels won't damage my vehicles (particularly the bikes), I have but one question......When it is shown that they're wrong, missed something, screwed up and/or my equipment is damaged, who's gonna pick up the tab for the repair??? (yes that is a totally rhetorical question)

The battery's obviously toast. If it was OEM, you're pushing what---3 years on it. I don't know how many miles you put on your bike(s), but that could constitute a substantial load cycle; even if it isn't, batteries do crater from time to time on their own. However, The problem in using something other than a "battery-tender" style device is that they do not typically have float circuitry in them. Float circuits serve to scale back the charge rate to a minimal level or zero charge rate, when the battery is fully charged and prevent overcharging, which will definitely hurt the battery. It will then monitor voltage and apply a minimal charge to keep the battery fully charged, then shut back off and cycle in this manner. One should also be cautious about a "battery-tender" that isn't designed for use with the AGMs. Some (not all) tenders may have de-sulfonating circuits which in the simplest description..burp the battery in reverse polarity, to keep the plates uncovered and maintaining maximum surface exposure to the electrolyte. This type of circuit is ONLY suitable for a lead-acid type flooded plate battery. Works great for those and extends the life of batteries that don't see a lot of use, but are kept on float chargers, like in back-up generators, etc. If your tender has this capability, DO NOT use it on an AGM battery! I would expect that the solar charger, even with some minimal output, would still have the capability of an overcharge with an AGM battery, especially if there is no protective circuitry present. The Yamacharger has the float circuitry and I'm reasonably sure that if you can show that your battery tender goes to float charge when the battery is fully charged, the dealer should have no issue, particularly if the spec.s on yours and his are similar. I would expect him to try to sell you on the Yamaha unit though. Reminds my of a situation with A/C compressor replacement under warranty. The parts store (actually the mfr) didn't want to go for it unless a new dryer was installed at the same time. I can see it for A/C; not for a Battery. I yield back the balance of my text!

Why Ms highwaypeg. It's chivalry! Any southern gentleman (whether by his birth or his nature) will take umbridge at a member of the fairer sex being treated in what is perceived to be an unseemly, dismissive manner, such as has been described. The responses you inquire about, well, they are the textual equivalent of coming to the aid of a fair damsel in distress, my dear! Be that as it may, I believe your latest response to be a well reasoned and measured compromise for the man you love, dear lady, while still maintaining a measure of control over your own activities and desires, as relating to motorcycling. To put it in more coloquial terms: "You go girl!!!"

Glad it wasn't more serious for the rider (really, for either of them). It's a hard way for the girl to have to learn a lesson, to be sure. Hopefully, she will take the experience forward and ALWAYS double and triple check when making turns. Rockworm, ya done good, brother! I'm sure both the biker and the girl appreciated what you did for them. I'm also sure the girl's dad appreciated your tending to his daughter, the way you did. Both of my sons are grown now, but if, God forbid, they were involved in an incident, I would hope that someone like yourself would be there and take it upon themselves to help them the way you helped that biker and the girl. For what it's worth, you scored high in my book, buddy!!!:happy34:

I see a few potentially fun options. (of course, I could be wrong) 1. Take a line from Nancy Reagan and "Just say NO"! ( A variation would be to say.."What part of it ain't happening, don't you understand, honey?") [NO, Wait, that's a line MY wife would use!!!] OR 2. Tell him: "I am putting my foot down....you MUST sell the Harley and get a Venture and you don't want to hear a bunch of discussion on it"!! OR 3. Tell him: "Do you remember the last time we had sex? To which he will certainly respond..Yes. Then you say: "I hope your memory stays good or you have pictures!":yikes: OR 4. Tell him: "Look, honey, If you don't back off on the bike thing, I'm going to start showing up at some of your bike get togethers wearing an 'I actually, really hate Harleys' T-shirt with your (his) name stenciled on it.":stickpoke: OR Tell him: "You don't want my bike here....Fine, sell it, but there better be a new Aston-Martin Vanquish sittin in the driveway with my name on the title, before sunset!!!!! And, oh yeah...stuff the Harley!":innocent: This was all in jest. I hope nobody took it too seriously. If it works, however, I get credit!

Truly wonderful news...

Welcome, welcome! Yeah, that RV thing.......that's gotta be uncomfortable after a while, what with having to drive with your head out the window to get the "bike effect".. That IS the way you do it , right???

Tough choice! I have a lot of favorites and very eclectic taste in music. Most of my choices don't usually apply to the entire album, either. I suppose, It'd be a toss up between Bonnie Raite (Luck of the Draw), Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (Best of) or Bruce Hornesby & the Range (Best of). If I absolutely had only one choice, I suppose it would be "Luck of the Draw" by Bonnie Raite. Of course, this all presumes there is something to play the album on!!

For a young guy, to be able to have a flight of fancy, that he had held in his mind as a dream....Yeah man ....that's special! Of course now he's hooked! Wes is right. Riding a motorcycle (particularly out in the country on a scenic road with little traffic) is as close as you can get to flying. In some ways it's better, because you're totally open to the environment. OK, let's go ride....fly.....no,... ride..no,.....fly......ride............................

OH my gosh.......now I've got these awful pictures running through my mind with some of the guys here wearing thongs........AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!:scared::scared:

Good grief!! That's close Don't ya know that pilot visited pucker central for awhile. He's lucky he didn't get a side strike inside the cabin and get nailed, himself. (assuming he didn't, that is)

A little morbid, but darn that's pretty cool.

Works for me! I'll be there.

I use the VOX in cold weather. I don't so much in the summer because I don't particularly like 3/4 or full helmets. The VOX being modular (flipup), I could use, but I just haven't grabbed it on the way to the bikes. I usually grab the shorty! The VOX compares well to the HJC and others and has a flip up sunshade as well. $125. Lots of colors (even pink) and the insides are set up to accomodate comm. gear. http://sterlingtek.com/newdotapvoxf3.html http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sell/SSProfiles/82000038/Images/1/SilverRDSG.jpg

My really dumb engine question
autopilot replied to wes0778's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Pegscraper, you never cease to amaze me with you knowledge about these old puppies. You confirmed for me that there isn't really anything wrong with my bike. I knew she was geared pretty tall, but I had no idea it was that tall. I also didn't know there were such substantial differences from our bikes to the newer ones -
:crying: Untill they pave my road this summer, whenever it rains, I have to wait a day for the mud to dry up, then ride the following day. That WAS going to be today Sunny & 70! Then my wife tells me she wants us to trim all the hedges & do a little spring cleanup today. We did and by the time we were done, I was so darn sore, I didn't even want to go ....should buy stock in Ben-Gay! I'm gonna go lay down now!

Always hate to hear about these. On the bright side, once again injuries are relatively minor. Thank the Lord for that! Heal quickly, fully!

Wes, Yeah it's called Retract-A-Trike from Safety Features, Inc. out of Stacy Minnesota. The've also got a thing called Ghost Wheels for Harley. They say they have the Ghost Wheels for some Yamahas. I rather like the retractable style myself. They have a neat video on both. http://www.trikealternative.com/retractatrike.shtml
