I may or may not be around this weekend. If I am and if back will cooperate, I'll sure try to hook up with you. Anywhere other than MB proper should be fine. I don't mean to seem petty, but I refuse to spend a dime in MB city, plus right now it's heartburn central. They're just looking for excuses to hand out tickets. Helmets without DOT stickers on them, questionable pipes, etc., ad nauseum! They'll even get you if your glasses aren't right and you do have to have them...seriously. Also, they doing traffic stop checkpoints, which by all accounts are nothing but a gigantic pain in the backside....especially considering where they doing them. I kid you not! Two of them are at hwy 501 & hwy 17 bypass on Sat. & again on Sun. Last week those numbskulls did the one at 501 & 17 bypass on Friday afternoon on the incoming lanes during rush hour. Idiots! Talk about some ticked off cagers.....Very few bikers, because the most of them weren't going into Myrtle Beach and had already peeled off on 31 going N & S. A lot of business owners are fuming over the whole mess. Some have said they may end up going out of business because of it. Personally, I find all of it an embarrassment. Anyway...... Here’s the schedule for the checkpoints: 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, on Ocean Boulevard, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues North 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, on Farrow Parkway at Warbird Park 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 23, on US 501 South, at US 17 (the “bypass”) 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 24, on US 501 South, at US 17 (the “bypass”) Travel safe, have fun! Hope I get to see y'all.

Neat! Do you fix the standards in place somehow, or just stick them in the holes?

Cyclemax.com has all kinds of stuff...lots of chrome (rack), electrical doodadds, etc. Goldwingcountry.com has the spoiler w/lights. I'm sure there are others. J-P Cycles sell some limited 'Wing stuff. I've gotten stuff from all of them; they seem to be OK and fine to deal with. The parts all seem to be excellent quality. Tell your freind's wife to prepare to dig into the old pocketbook for that spoiler.

I tend to take the contrarian view. "It is highly probably and even likely, to minimize the importance of virtually nothing"! BUT, you have to work at it!

First glance you'd think it was an animal. In context, the tree has had a lot of previous pruning of the larger branches. If you look at the other cut off branches, then the one you're talking about, you can tell it really looks like one of the old branch stubs.

My doctor told me: "You are not overweight!!! You are too short"!!!

An accident that really hits close to home.
autopilot replied to Mariner Fan's topic in Watering Hole
This is just SO wrong!!!! This is heaping injury on top of insult on top of injury! It isn't enough that this man has lost his granddaughter, now he may lose his legs and maybe his life? And the best they can do is cite the woman with 2nd degree negligent driving? What the hell does that even mean? What? First degree is being negligent on purpose and second degree is being stupid by accident??? And what of the son/father, if he should lose his dad as well? I'm sorry, I gotta go...Ican't think about this. -

Told this before, but I don't mind repeating. Feb. of 2006....got a little sore throat. By Monday I was in a bad way; I have COPD (didn't know that at the time) and sore throat was now a deep chest cold bordering on pneumonia. I walk 15-20 feet and I'm gasping for air and can't get any. At the Doctor they hook me up to a couple of IVs (one of steroids and the other of antibiotics), afterward sent me home with a couple of expensive prescriptions. Over the weekend leading up to the Monday AM trip to the Doctor, I couldn't lay down, couldn't walk, couldn't sleep except sitting in a chair with a pillow propping my chin up. After several serious conversations with God, I finally "made a deal"! I told Him, If He would cut me some slack and let me get through it, I would promise to never put another one to my lips. He did, so I haven't had one since. I see it as one of those bargains you just don't go back on, if you have any sense at all. He helped me again by me not having any real withdrawl to deal with or any real lingering desire to fire up. I have to say, under the circumstances as scary & painful as it was, I am most thankful for the whole experience. So, I guess I can say I quit smoking, cold turkey "sorta" after about 40 years of 1-2 packs a day (Pall Malls starting out, Marlboro Regulars the last 30 or so years).

you've done some kind of search recently (or the computer thinks so). I can't remember the engine right this minute, but I've seen those kind of results before. Lemmee cypher on it awhile and see if I can figure out where! I'll be back.

If you're going to take the rear end off the parts bike anyway, and can find out the gear ratio for the Vmax, all you would have to do is be able to see the input shaft some kind of way. Rotate the tire one complete turn and count the number of revolutions you need to get one revolution on the input shaft. Once you have the ratio, you'll know which differential it is. Obviously you have to mark the wheel and the input somehow, so you can make an accurate count. Just a thought....if you didn't want to have to get into the differential.

I actually got a young man to stop wearing his pants down off his butt cheeks. I told him that my understanding of that "style" was that it originated in the prison system. The "guys" who wore them like that were "advertising", if you know what I mean! I then said that if somebody gave him a squeeze or a tap on the backside to be sure and think twice before he simply turned to punch them. The guy could be fresh out of prison and "lonely"! His eyes got big, he jerked his pants up and I haven't seen him with his pants anywhere but at his waist, since!

Yeah, Those are actually ballast stones from the old wooden sailing ships that frequented the docks there, when cotton was king and all those buildings were still warehouses. Be sure to go over a few blocks to Paula Deen's restaurant if you can get in. They used to have a really neat mini bus tour of the historical district. I was put on by the historical society... The wife & I stayed there for a long weekend one time just to get away for awhile.

If it still works, he may just need to adjust it. The mounting may be bent a little or the position attachment may have shifted over time from wear. It should be readily (more or less) accessible. It is after all up under the dash.

Hey, Barend, I hope I don't embarrass you or tell a tale out of school, with this, but I had to say again what an absolute joy it was to meet and chat with you and your wife over lunch today! I wish we could have done it WITH the bikes and with my wife along . Having more time would have been nice, too. (*) I realize, all we did was eat a little something, talk and take care of our little piece of business, but I just really enjoyed the time, being there with the two of you. I also wanted to apologize. I was so into the moment, I totally forgot to thank you. So, Thank You!! I hope the boards serve you well. I hope to see you guys again out there, somewhere. * (Probably wouldn't have hurt to have been oh 50lbs or so lighter, better looking and 10 or 15 years younger, either!! But, hey, sometimes ya just gotta go with what ya got, right?) OK, stick a fork in me, cause I'm done!

The only thing wierd about these bikes is some of us what rides them!!!!!!!

I would have at least made a comment even though I'm not buying anything right now. My main computer took a dive and I'm just getting back to partial operability with it. I took a pass through the classifieds here on site and didn't see your bike. I assume you're going to put some info there and more pics? I know one or two guys around here (my vicinity) that might (emphasis on might) be interested. What are the particulars? how many miles and how much do you want. I'll pass it along to them. Not much I know! I'm really hatin it for all you guys that are having to sell your bikes. I wish you the best getting it gone.

I have some similar ones from Showchrome. slightly different design, with longer offset arms. I had gotten them for my '90 Goldwing and never could get them adjusted where I liked them (it's just awkward on that bike), so I took them off a couple of days ago and put the Marklands back on. They're virtually brand new. They were $290 or there abouts, as I recall. Haven't put an ad together yet. If you have any interest, send me an email and I'll shoot some pics and send you. Then, if you want 'em, we can talk $. I can tell you that everything I've seen or bought from Showchrome has been 1st quality stuff. No junk. The chrome plating is great and the basic design, structure and workmanship are as good as you'll get anywhere! Very impressive. Of course that is reflected in their prices, too!

Well, darn.......That was about a 9.5 on my "didn't see that comin-ometer". Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, though....Good luck in advance and keep a low profile. We'll say prayers and keep a light on for ya!

The area for the most part is between Hwy 31 & Hwy 90 in one direction and between Hwy 22 and International drive in the the other direction. The worst hit by the fire is the Barefoot Resort Community (north & across the waterway from Briarcliff Mall. This is a fairly affluent subdivision/community; when developed, they were able to construct Barefoot Resort Drive Bridge, which starts across the waterway, connected to hwy 17)...lot of money, lot of retirees [among others]). International Dr. is an extension of Robert Grissom Pakwy, after it crosses the waterway. You can see the area clearly on Google Earth if interested. There have been many homes totally destroyed. In all the authorities say: homes destroyed-69, homes damaged- 100, approx. 20,000 acres burned. Those numbers for home damage are for the entire fire area, not just Barefoot Resort. No mention of any dollar estimates, that I have heard, but it will be dramatic, I'm sure! There was a guy who had been burning without a permit on Sat. and it had spread to adjacent property. The authorities showed up, put it out and cited him for 2 violations. At the last update, the Forestry people said that the original fire must have burned underground for a day or two and that subsequent fire/restart is what sparked the big blaze. The ground cover through that whole area has been like tinder with attitude...the least puff of wind and it's off to the races; and as luck would have it, it's been windy. Thankfully, We aren't anywhere close to that area, although my niece and her husband do live on the N/NW side of hwy 90 fairly close to the action. They have been safe thus far. I know we have a couple of members in and around North Myrtle and inland ( Longs community and Loris I know of for sure...there may be others). I would expect those areas to have issues with smoke as they would be downwind from the fire areas. Watching local TV coverage of some of it has been tough. In most cases, the people have said that they literally had barely enough time to get every one into a vehicle and go before the fire got to the house. One guy said he didn't have enough time to go back and get his dog, so it was lost to the flames. On the 11:00 news, they showed people literally sifting and raking through the ashes of what had been their homes for anything they could salvage. There haven't been any deaths though, thank the Lord and that is a miracle on it's own. The report is that they have it 80% contained....we'll see what the day brings. Those so disposed, take the time for a little prayer that the weather cooperates, that they put it out soon, before any more people lose their homes, and for comfort for those who have. A little prayer of thanks and safety for the folks who have fought and continue to fight the fire, wouldn't hurt, either.
