  1. Welcome! Lots of good information on the site and among the members.
  2. If Yamaha had refined the Gen II bikes, I think it would have sold much better in its later years. Eliminating that annoying clutch basket whine, adding fuel injection and a modern stereo would have been a great start. But nope, they wouldn't do any updates. I don't think the Goldwings have an annoying gear whine.
  3. Used car prices are up. Don't know if that applies to bikes.
  4. If you google that bike name with parts or manual included, sites come up. Seems there is even a forum "chinarider".
  5. I never heard of that brand and did a little searching. Supposedly, it is chinese designed and assembled in Texas with chinese parts. So, you should be able to get some info and parts from Texas.
  6. ReinyRooster, I may be looking at a hip replacement. If you don't mind, could you tell me about your experience with that surgery? Was it performed from the rear, direct approach, or from the anterior? How was the recuperation period? How long? Anything helpful hints you could pass on? Thanks!
  7. Well, if you travel to our southern border you could come right in and settle down in a warmer state! LOL!
  8. Thanks for the update! We're all hoping for the best!
  9. Living in coastal NC I'm spoiled I know but today it's 32 degrees and rainy that may turn into freezing rain according to the weather folks. I'm ready for spring for sure. I don't know how I could stand all those winters I worked in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. I should have bought a house in Florida when I was working there..... Shoulda, coulda, and $5 might buy a cup of hot coffee.🤪
  10. The Yamaha Royal Star Venture's curb weight is 869 lbs. But, I don't consider it to be top heavy. Some do. It's super comfy and a great road trip bike. If you ride mostly around town, you may want something lighter. Me personally I don't like V-twins and all 3 of my bikes are fours. I don't like vibration and I like the power from a high revving four. My 2 cents....
  11. I once worked with a free spirit type guy who said he had a chevy cargo van that he used as a camper. He said he could spend the night most anywhere and no one would know he was sleeping in it. He said he spent a night one time parked on the street in San Francisco. Wonder what happened to that guy. He was a character and very smart.
  12. In the US, I think you are required by law to stop and assist the people in the accident.
  13. That was a close call! Glad it turned out okay! I was on I95 traveling at 70 plus in my Dodge Magnum behind a SUV. There was a large piece of a truck tire in the road that the SUV ran over and tossed it back to me. It cracked the rubber nose or bumper cover of my car and went under my car. Ended up costing me over $600 to get a new bumper cover including painting. Don't those big trucks still use recaps? They do provide some extra danger to vehicles and especially to motorcycle riders. It would be great if the railroads could take some of the business away from the trucks and get them off the highways.
  14. This question reminded me of a photo I took at Sturgis. I'm not sure what this guy was carrying with him?!!
  15. We will all be pulling for you, Don! As far as the site getting slow, characters like the much loved Cowpuc, Yammer Dan, Flying Fool, and Bongo kept us entertained for sure. And it is winter time when many folks have put their bikes in the garage and are doing other stuff.
  16. Here's hoping that 2022 is a better year for both of you.
  17. The 86 and up have much better front brakes with 4 pistons per caliper. The R1 brakes don't fit quite the same.
  18. If the brakes aren't delinked, it's hard to imagine both front brakes locking up and not the rear. Very DUMB question alert! Could the reservoirs have been completely full? If so pressure from heat could build up. The master cylinders have a little hole that allows the fluid pressure to be relieved back to the master cylinder when the brakes are released. Sometimes those holes get plugged. It may be that the calipers just need to be rebuilt.
  19. Beautiful bike! My favorite color!
  20. No real resolutions but hope to lose a little weight, exercise more, ride more, catch more fish, and shorten my "to do" list. Yeah Right?! And win the lottery!.....
  21. Yep, eggs were bad. Now they are good. Butter was bad. Now we know the fake butter is worse for you than real butter. Animal fat was terrible. Now they are saying well, it's not as bad as we thought. You need to eat some animal fat. Probably the only thing you can believe is that refined sugar in all its forms is definitely bad for you. And being grossly overweight is definitely bad for you.
  22. Yes, vitamin K1 and K2 will help clotting of the blood. But K2 in particular seems to help the body use calcium for the bones and prevent clogging of the arteries. The below info is part of one of the articles on the web. Judging from the effect it had on me, I will continue to take Vitamin K2 MK7. And the increase in blood pressure could have also been from over eating during the holidays. Past time to crack down on the over eating. Vitamin K and Heart Health In addition to blood clotting and bone health, vitamin K also seems to play an important role in preventing heart disease. Vitamin K activates a protein that helps prevent calcium from depositing in your arteries. These calcium deposits contribute to the development of plaque, so it’s not surprising that they are a strong predictor of heart disease (16Trusted Source, 17Trusted Source). Several observational studies have suggested that vitamin K2 is better than K1 at reducing these calcium deposits and lowering your risk of heart disease (18Trusted Source, 19Trusted Source, 20Trusted Source). However, higher quality controlled studies have shown that both vitamin K1 and vitamin K2 (specifically MK-7) supplements improve various measures of heart health (16Trusted Source, 21Trusted Source). Nevertheless, further studies are needed to prove that supplementing with vitamin K actually causes these improvements in heart health. Additionally, more research is needed to determine if K2 is truly better for heart health than K1.
  23. As a followup, I have noticed my blood pressure is higher than before and I'm having to take Triam/HCTZ more often now to keep it down. I suspect the Vitamin K2 is the reason. Or it could be that I am now taking 4 ibuprofens every day now instead of 2 for my arthritis that is made worse by the statin drug. I started taking 2 more ibuprofens at the same time I started taking Vitamin K2. However, in normal daily activity, I rarely feel any angina now. I plan to keep taking the K2 for sure. And I'm halving the statin drug intake. I'll see how it goes.
  24. And a relatively young man at 66. Very sad.
  25. One of John Stossel's shows years ago he talked about cholesterol and he said that for buildup to occur you had to have high blood pressure as well as high cholesterol. The high bp damages the vessels in spots and the buildup in the arteries happens at the damaged part. I don't know. I'm sure there's more to the story. In my case my heart arteries have buildup almost evenly through the entire length including the capillaries so there is something else going on. My cholesterol has almost always been just over 200 total but my ratio of HDL/LDL hasn't been in the desired range. The highest it has ever been is 238 and the lowest I remember is 188 when I was walking a lot. I used to be 6' tall but I've shrunk a couple inches in my old age I guess due to collapsing back discs. And I'm built like a football lineman with a weight of 260 at my heaviest and now at 225. I have exercised periodically all my life, tennis, jogging, walking, weigh lifting, as well as pushups, sit-ups, squats, arm curls and pullovers on my Total Gym. The last 5 are what I do now. Walking a lot has been impossible due to my severe arthritic hip. Getting old sucks! Thinking about a hip joint replacement. Based on my limited experience and knowledge, I highly recommend taking Vitamin K2 supplements whether or not you know you have clogged arteries.
