  1. How long have you had the bike? These bikes are notorious for the clutch basket whine. The gear teeth on the clutch basket are not precisely cut enough to keep them from making noise. Almost all of the RSVs have the annoying clutch whine/chirp. It's not a problem, just annoying.
  2. Yeah, I've been doing entirely too little drinkng!
  3. My swollen, infected, stones filled, bile duct plugged Gall Bladder was removed today. Seemed to go ok and now I have to recover from 4 holes in the abdomen. As well as adjust to a low fat diet, for a while at least. Falling apart in my old age! Just before the surgery, I asked the Dr. how long would it be before I could do a situp. His response was, "Can you do a situp now?". that Turkey! I said, Yeah, I can do 30, in a row! I should have asked him how many he could do but I wasn't that quick.
  4. Yeah, straddling a tank of gasoline and then igniting it is a thrill!
  5. I did the free upgrade a few days ago and I don't have any problems with 10 other than I no longer have the game Minesweeper. Man, I was good at that game. My record was 99 seconds to discover 90 bombs!
  6. And don't bother with a GP. Go to a Specialist, a Neuro surgeon.
  7. When the weather warms up a bit and you get the fever, maybe a new BMW K1600? That'll give you a thrill when you crack the throttle!
  8. Congratulations to you Freebird for the sale and also to Mike for the purchase. This year, I will be reducing my bike stable to one bike. I haven't decided which one it will be yet. Usually when I go for a short errand ride, I hop on the Kawasaki because it's so much easier to get out of the garage an go. And at 500 lbs and 74 hp, it's about as fast as the Ventures but the narrow seat gets uncomfortable after 30 minutes or so. As much as the smaller V-twin cruisers don't appeal to me visually or engine wise, they may be the best for us older folks because of the comfort and lighter weight. I'm sure my wife will be happy to see two of them disappear from the garage!
  9. These carbs have such tiny orifices that they plug really easy. I'd put a can of Gumout with PEA in the gas and run it a few times to clear it up. I think the best procedure is to drain the carbs to keep the evaporating gas from leaving a residue. The tank should not gravity drain to the carbs if you leave the petcock in the ON position so the gas in the carbs dries up quickly.
  10. That wolf gets a A for effort!
  11. Here is a mechanic's video on what used trucks to buy.
  12. I haven't owned one but from what I've read the 5.3L V8 is a very reliable engine pre-VVT. When they added variable valve timing, I think the cam/lifters became a serious issue. Rev 1 I did some web surfing and the problems seem to occur with the AFM, active fuel management or cylinder deactivation. Lots of discussions about this on the internet.
  13. Yep, just make sure it meets the JASO spec for mcs with wet clutches.

  15. It's because people will buy more crap with more sugar in it. Restaurants are now putting sugar in vegetable dishes such as slaw and a southern favorite, collards. Disgusting!
  16. The cruise ship we went on had a machine where you could get the soft ice cream any time and my wife and I ate a lot of cones of ice cream! It wasn't as sweet as DQ.
  17. The last time my wife and I bought ice cream at DQ, it was so sweet that we dropped it into the trash can. Seems so many things these days are just loaded with sugar.
  18. Put a whole bottle of Gumout for high mileage engines in the gas tank and run it through. That might clean any ports you may have been missed during the carb cleaning. Install new spark plugs. 500 sounds high to me. When I measure my Kawasaki exhaust pipes about 4" from the head they read about 260 to 270. Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks on those cylinders.
  19. Losing weight and exercising can accomplish amazing things. When my 3 1/2 yr job in FL ended with 14 months of 6 12s towards the end I had an irregular pulse and weighed 260. When I got home I lost 30 lbs and got back on my exercise program and my pulse went back to normal. I was 69 yrs old when that job ended in 2013. My heartbeat is still normal although I have 3 stents as of last November 1. The cardiologist told me my heart is strong and the valves work well but the arteries that feed the heart were 60 to 80% plugged. I’m still exercising more than before and I’m losing more weight now plus I started taking a statin and another drug that reduces cholesterol absorption by the small intestines. Ya gotta be tough to handle getting old! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I betcha if you do lose the weight you plan to and get on an exercise program, you will feel 100% better! I can't answer your question. I snore too and have found that if I sleep on my side, I don't snore.
  21. Loving this warm weather! I went for a ride yesterday on my Kawasaki and my RSV.
  22. May not help but this video covers the removal of a Gen I engine.
  23. My wife successfully upgraded her laptop from 7 to 10 using the link last night. Her laptop is about 10 years old but it does have the I7 chip. It has some extra stuff that she likes such as a high def screen. I paid about $2300 for that Lenovo laptop for her son to use in college. He was a gamer and wanted lots of extra stuff. I don't know why. Perhaps it was the age of the computer or whether it was done on Saturday evening when there are lots of folks on the web but it took over 8 hours to download W10 for her laptop. But it appears to be working well. Her son graduated with a degree in computer science and a few years after graduating bought a new laptop for himself and gave his old one to his Mom. Thank again Scifiman! We would not have paid for the upgrade and bought new computers instead so you saved us over $2k!!!
  24. The noise in the video makes me think a valve needed adjustment.
