I betcha if you do lose the weight you plan to and get on an exercise program, you will feel 100% better! I can't answer your question. I snore too and have found that if I sleep on my side, I don't snore.

Loving this warm weather! I went for a ride yesterday on my Kawasaki and my RSV.

Engine noise possibly timing chain slap?
BlueSky replied to sleadhed's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
May not help but this video covers the removal of a Gen I engine. -
My wife successfully upgraded her laptop from 7 to 10 using the link last night. Her laptop is about 10 years old but it does have the I7 chip. It has some extra stuff that she likes such as a high def screen. I paid about $2300 for that Lenovo laptop for her son to use in college. He was a gamer and wanted lots of extra stuff. I don't know why. Perhaps it was the age of the computer or whether it was done on Saturday evening when there are lots of folks on the web but it took over 8 hours to download W10 for her laptop. But it appears to be working well. Her son graduated with a degree in computer science and a few years after graduating bought a new laptop for himself and gave his old one to his Mom. Thank again Scifiman! We would not have paid for the upgrade and bought new computers instead so you saved us over $2k!!!

Engine noise possibly timing chain slap?
BlueSky replied to sleadhed's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The noise in the video makes me think a valve needed adjustment. -
Thanks to Scifiman I was able to successfully download Windows 10 for free. It took at least a couple of hours to complete but seems to work okay. My computer is 7 or more years old but it has the I7 chip and had Windows 7 on it. It gave me the option of turning off many of the intrusive features. Thanks! It was easy to do. I just followed directions and had to do very little. One thing I did have to do was to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials that I had been using for security. It appears that 10 has its own security but you do have to turn on some of it.

A dude ranch that matches horse to rider skill level
BlueSky replied to saddlebum's topic in Watering Hole
My brother had horses. One day I was visiting and he was resting his foot on the fence rail when one of his horses came over and very carefully bit the end of his boot while looking up at my brother to see his reaction. My brother had folded up his toes so the horse only had boot between his teeth. I was amazed. I didn't think horses had a sense of humor and would play with you like that. The last time I rode a horse was at the Teton Village in Jackson Wyoming about 3 1/2 yrs ago. I have enough arthritis in my hips now that spreading my legs to fit over the saddle was painful during the entire ride. I was 72 then. Getting to be an old coot has its disadvantages. -
Rear brake bleed question
BlueSky replied to Dales venture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If there is no air in the system and you are just bleeding the lines to refresh the fluid, does it really matter how you do it if you are bleeding from the farthest point from the MC? -
Don't know if it is any good for hunting, but an AR15 is as light as they get. I bought a Sig Sauer model from the Walmart in Homestead FL when I worked there. I didn't need it but I wanted one.

If that rifle could talk, the story would be very interesting (or terrible) I'm sure. One of my high school friend's Dad had served in Europe during WWII and he brought home a French and a German military rifle.

"Old as we feel" Let's not talk about how old we feel! Ha! The thread won't ever stop! I could fill up a few of those pages myself!

That had to be a shock! So Sorry!

That Honda should keep you busy for a couple days! Yeah, from what I understand, when you release the brake lever/pedal, the MC piston is pulled back by the spring in the MC and brake fluid pressure is relieved back to the MC. Then the pad/caliper piston will back off a little from the rotor pushing it a tad due to irreguarities in the rotor. But, the pad might still contact the rotor just a little but not enough to matter. So, some contact is normal with a brake system. -
So sorry to hear that. Wishing her a speedy recovery! I fell today. The wooden slat walkway to my daughter's home in the mountains was wet and slick. My feet went out from under me but I was able to catch myself on my right knee and right hand and didn't go down all the way into the mud. Those pushups I've been doing helped a bunch.

I'm sorry for your loss! It's really tough to lose a family member. I got an email last night informing me that an engineer I worked with at D C COOK Nuclear Plant in MI in 1999 had died. He was a very good project engineer and I liked and respected him. I think he was in his late 70's. We had kept in touch by email.

I think I remember reading some threads on using the R1/R6 front caliper on the rear of the 1st Gens but as I remember the bleed valve is in the wrong place so you have to remove it and turn it so the bleed valve is the highest point in order to bleed the line. Not sure if there is a difference in the MK 1 and MK 2. Skydoc may have one for you. -
This country has way too many attorneys and way too many residents who think of suing like they are winning the lottery. Reminds me of the guy many years ago who was driving drunk in his cheap Pinto and crashed the car killing his son. Then he tried to sue Ford because they had the technology to make a Pinto safer in a car crash but didn't. It was a frontal crash not the infamous gas tank exploding. Wasn't his fault for driving drunk. It was the fault of Ford. People like that are a waste of oxygen.

Let me find a big tree to hide behind! Okay! Here goes! One of the best treatments for most ailments is to lose weight. I've had trouble with weight gain because I love to eat, meat, potatoes, ice cream, beer. But, when I get sciatic pain or my back gets worse, I try to lose a few lbs and it always helps. Right now I'm trying hard to get the excess weight off and of course it's making me feel better. My back pain is less. My general overall feeling is better and it's easier to get around which is important for an old codger of 75. Of course routine exercise should be part of our lives too. Let me know when I can come out from behind the tree!

Really sorry you are in such pain. I don't think nsaids have much effect on nerve pain or at least that has been my experience with sciatic pain and the nerve pain in my left hip when I got shingles. You need some opioids for that. Drs are reluctant to prescribe opioids now with all the hoopla about over prescribing them in the past. I did get a little for the nerve pain when I got shingles and I went into a bit of withdrawal when I quit taking them for 3 weeks.

My wife and I went on an air boat ride in the FL Everglades about 10 yrs ago. The boat engine kept spitting and sputtering and then cut off. The dipstick driving the boat drained the fuel filter on top of the black battery that had been sitting in the sun with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth and then hit the start switch. That battery was very hot from being in the sun and the gas was evaporating quickly. One spark from the battery or that cigarette and the boat would have gone up in flames. I told my wife to get ready to jump overboard. Luckily there was no fire. I told the guy about it when we got back but I'm afraid I didn't make much of an impression. I was too nice I suppose. He claimed he could put out his cigarette in an open container of gas. I didn't ask for a demonstration for proof. If I remember correctly, it was Coopertown on highway 41 across southern FL.

You will be the venture rider site expert by next summer! Riding one of these old bikes requires you to become an expert I suppose. Keep on keeping on!
