  1. I (79) took 3 Pfizer shots and got covid last Jan 2. I woke up with a bad cough and fever set in later that day. I took ivermectin. The next day my fever was high and I felt terrible. I took another ivermectin. The 3rd day the fever had subsided a little and I was feeling better. The 4th day the fever was gone and I felt almost normal again. The cough lasted about 3 weeks and my sense of smell gradually came back still not quite back to normal. My wife (63) who refused the shots caught it from me Jan 3. Her symptoms were similar to mine but her cough wasn't as bad. First time for both of us.
  2. I'm still around hanging out in Wilmington, NC. I still have that pristine 89 Venture Royale garage queen with only 6k miles on it.
  3. A hose to the ear moved to various places on the engine may locate the sound better. Or even remove the valve cover to see if it's valve related.
  4. I think most motorcycles produce little current while idling. Letting it idle for 1.5 hrs is enough to drain the battery. Remember the headlight is on and sucking lots of juice. It's typical I think or that has been my experience.
  5. It's great to see some Gen 1s in the wild!
  6. I wish they operated in NC. At one point, I was insuring 3 bikes and two vehicles and in NC they price it like you can drive/ride all 5 at the same time. We need to be talking to our legislatures.
  7. The Wing engine has the same drawback as the BMW R engine for performance use. It limits the lean angle. For a cruiser it can't be beat overall for smoothness, lower cog and it lasts like a car engine.
  8. If that "little" K1600 doesn't bring joy to a motorcycle rider, I don't know what can! 😂
  9. Don, I'm so sorry. I wish you the best. I am so grateful for this site because it has been a great source of knowledge and entertainment for me. Hang tough!
  10. I was too dang immature at 19 to even think about marriage.
  11. What was the draw? It doesn't take a lot to kill a small motorcycle battery.
  12. Might be a parasitic draw.
  13. You may have read my recent post about buying a new Nissan Titan Pro4X. The dealer that was 5 hours away discounted it $7k and then financed it a 0% with a doc fee as the only adder. Some dealers are giving discounts now if you shop around. I found this dealer by searching Autotrader. I think RAM is giving 10% discounts now. The CEO of GM shut down the production line for two weeks on their trucks to prevent an excess of supply and to keep prices up. I'm 79 and my last 4 trucks have been Fords but I'm fairly brand neutral in my old age. I bought my wife an Infiniti 9 years ago and it now has about 56k miles on it and it has had zero problems. I love my new Titan all except for the new price and the cost of the insurance and property taxes!! And the Titans have a 5 year, 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.
  14. I remember reading that people living in southern USA are more prone to have cataracts than those living in the north supposedly due to more and brighter sunshine.
  15. I had my final checkup today after cataract surgery and I have 20/15 vision in each eye. I'm tickled pink! So, I recommend it if you have cataracts and are putting off the surgery.
  16. It's very typical for the plug wires to corrode where they screw into the plug caps. Usually snipping off a bit of wire until you see clean copper wire will fix this issue for a while. My Kawasaki has o-rings inside the end of the cap which seals the connection against water intrusion and this doesn't happen on that bike.
  17. If you can do the work yourself and want to do the work, keep it and ride it. If not, sell it. Like Freebird said, the bike won't sell for what you will have invested in it fixing it up. But, if you want to ride it, they are great sport touring bikes. The bike can be ridden without second gear as our dear friend Cowpuc did for hundreds of thousands of miles on several 83s and 84s.
  18. People are being brainwashed about climate change.
  19. So far I only have a couple of battery operated tools. When they get everyone converted over to battery powered everything, the new power plants that will have to be built and added to the rate base will double the cost of electricity. No one is going to save money with battery powered. I don't understand the rationale. Currently, there is 0.04% carbon dioxide in the air. That is 4 parts per 10,000. If it gets below 0.02% plants begin to die. Is 0.04% such a problem? I saw a video about how much greener the earth is now from the extra carbon dioxide... All of the climate disaster predictions so far have been way off base. So, I'm really confused about the whole push for electric everything.
  20. The optometrist that I have been going to for 30 years recommended the optician or surgeon and said he had been sending patients to him for 12 years. I was scared too because eyesight is such as precious thing. But, millions of us have had it done and I'm amazed at the outcome. You will need reading glasses afterwards. I bought some tinted 1.25 glasses for my computer time and I found a pair of glasses I used to use when I wore hard contacts that I'm guessing are 2.00 for reading. Medicare will pay for one pair of glasses after the surgery but I didn't feel the need.
  21. Me too. A couple of months ago I had cataract surgery and now I can see perfect for the first time without glasses since I was a kid and I'm 79. The standard lens that Medicare would pay for completely wouldn't correct my astigmatism so I opted for the Toric lens that cost me about $1500 per eye. I opted for the eye drops for 4 weeks instead of the eye injection.
  22. And yesterday, I sold my beloved old truck, a 2002 F150 Supercab Lariat FX4 with the 5.4L engine. I bought it in 2009 with 69k miles on it and it had 170k. That truck took me to Wisconsin, Homestead FL several times, Wyoming, and Montana as well as many trips not as far. And I sold my 2005 Dodge Magnum RT (Hemi V8) on Wednesday that I bought new. I was overwhelmed with inquiries from the ads on Facebook Marketplace. The truck received over 2100 clicks and 70 or more inquiries. The Magnum got 20 or more inquiries but it sold the morning after placing the ad late on Tuesday night. I never thought I would sell the Magnum but after spending so much on the new Titan, I couldn't justify keeping it. The Titan is powerful enough and comfortable enough that I won't miss the power and comfort of the Hemi Magnum so much. My wife has her car and we didn't need 3 vehicles.
  23. This week I had a lapse of sanity and bought a new 2023 Truck. It's a Nissan Titan Pro4X. I was cruising through Autotrader just to see what was available and I saw this truck advertised with a $6500 discount. So I checked to see what the real price was and they added some imaginary service fees. I wasn't interested so they dropped those extra fees. Then after waiting a couple days they called and added another $500 discount for my "military service". I did serve but it was for 3 years starting in 1967. So I ended up with a $7,000 discount off MSRP with the doc fee as the only adder. Then, they financed it a 0% for 60 months! I tried and tried to insert a photo of the truck but it always inserted upside down no matter what orientation I made to the photo before inserting!!!!
  24. I remember Cowpuc posting that he had that problem with a bike that was caused by the fluid in one front leg being lower than the other if I remember correctly.
  25. I would suspect the carbs are leaking.
