Long time no see, so an update

The coolant flow rate past the surface does affect heat transfer. The BWR (Boiling Water Reactor) power plants have pumps that circulate the water inside the reactor to help heat transfer from the fuel rods to the cooling water. Tweaking this flow rate also affects reactor power. -
Discussions are being held about giving up patent rights to the vaccines so they can be produced by Indian pharmaceutical companies. May or may not happen.

From what I have been reading though Pennzoil is now one of the best oils on the market. Their regular oil is one of the best in the Noack volatility test and their synthetic is made from natural gas.

Be careful. Dirt riding is more likely to cause crashes than highway riding.

Give it a try. But, dirt bikes are light weight, have large front wheels, high seats, and have more suspension travel for good reasons, so it won't be an ideal dirt bike but have fun with it.

Lift adapter
BlueSky replied to BlueBeard's topic in Links to Classifieds, Craigslist, Ebay, Sales, Etc.
In the past, they have been available on ebay for about $60 I think. I think Carbon One was selling them with legs. I have one of his and it's super convenient to lift the bike and to work on it. Don't know if he is still selling them. -
Fuel, spark, air??? Who Knows?? HELP

When this happens, pull over and remove the gas tank cap. If there is a vacuum in the tank the tank vent is not working properly. Just wild guessing here. -
As I stated in post #1, the USPS package delivery woman told me that amazon packages get top priority and all others get shipped whenever. My package that was shipped USPS was delayed about a week because it was not an amazon package. Fedex didn't renew their contract with amazon presumably because they weren't making enough money. The USPS loses money anyway and is government owned so who cares if they lose money.

Yeah, the RSV rear brake is too effective in my opinion, possibly causing the rider ot lock up the rear wheel in a panic stop. Organic pads might be just what they need. Those sintered pads will eat up the rotors the quickest. Ceramic pads provide decent braking while taking it easy on the rotors. When I replace my rear pads on my RSV they will be ceramic or organic. My 2 cents.

Different bike but I recently checked the valve adjustment on my 85 Kawasaki ZN700 4cyl with 6,000 miles on it and almost all were too tight.

My favorite is my Remington 552 Speedmaster .22 semi-automatic. I was 17 when I bought it in 1961 by working in a grocery store on Fridays after school for $3 and 13 hrs on Saturdays for $7. The local hardware store let me buy it for $56 and pay $3/week on the bill until it was paid for with no interest. It would fire shorts, longs, or long rifle cartridges as fast as I could pull the trigger never jamming. I still have it. When I was working in FL, I bought a Sig Sauer AR15 from the Homestead, FL Walmart. I used a M14 and then a M16 in the Army and that M16 really impressed me. My Sig Sauer P226 9mm is the best of the best in handguns in my opinion, single/double action with a hammer. I just don't like the accident prone Glocks with no visible hammer that are constantly cocked. And for a small pocket handgun, my Ruger LCP .380 is very impressive and very reliable. And I bought a used Remington 1100 12 gauge semi-auto for home protection back about 2008. It's time to go to the range and exercise them.

A New Hanover county carry permit requires the names of three people that can verify your sanity before you can be approved. And I have to take a class. In FL my military tour was a substitute for the class and no witnesses needed so I got my permit in less that two weeks. When the repubs took over NC, they passed a castle law and stand your ground. So, home invaders are fair game, threat or not.

The one I have I'd like to sell is a S&W Stainless Steel Model 639 9mm. BUT, after looking into how to sell it, turns out in NC, I have to have a permit to sell a handgun or have a NC carry permit as well to be able to buy one. My carry permit is a FL permit that I got during my 3 yr 7 month job in Homestead FL. I plan to get a NC carry permit now. A permit is required in NC in order to give a handgun to a relative. Recently, my wife's son gave her two of his handguns but they both have NC carry permits so that was legal. All of my handguns I acquired when I was in FL and they are legal. The walls are closing in.

Well, my Cosmic Monocular arrived today. It only took 8 days to make it the last 100 miles. Now that I can see for 30 miles, I need to find something that will allow me to read....I haven't checked it out that much yet but it appears to be clear with good magnification, worth the $50 for sure in my opinion.

I bought my 07, a one owner, 23k miles, in nice shape for $3,000 3 yrs ago. Granted that was a special case but. The previous owner from Darlington, SC tried to sell it for $5k the summer before and then dropped his price to $4k. The following spring he was determined to get rid of it and advertised it on craigslist for $3k. As soon as I saw it I jumped on it even though at the time I wasn't sure I even wanted it. It's a great bike.

I suspect Quaker State oil is okay now isn't it? But, in the old days, it would sludge up an engine pdq. My exwife's father was a mechanic and if you mentioned Quaker State around him, he would go into a rant about how bad it was. I remember one story of an engine that overheated and the Quaker State oil turned into a mayonnaise like substance that wouldn't even drain out when the drain plug was removed

Beautiful bike! Ventures are great bikes but for whatever reason they don't bring what they are worth it seems to me. -
WHEN WE REACH THE YEARS WHEN WE APPRECIATE EACH DAY WE AWAKE
BlueSky replied to larrydr's topic in Watering Hole
60 is the new 40! When I was 59 I got married for the second time to a 42 yr old lady with an 11 yr old son. Retired at 70. Things started going downhill at about 74 when I got shingles and had to quit exercising for a good while. Trust me, you don't want to get shingles. It took about a year to fully recover from that crap. And take statins if you can tolerate them to keep your cholesterol low. I didn't. Big mistake. -

This is why I'm trying really hard to lose weight and exercise more. Losing weight improves all health problems it seems. At 77 I guess I beat the odds already and I hope to be able to enjoy my remaining time, not just survive. I have 3 stents, severe right hip arthritis, enlarged prostate, and beginning cataracts. The cardiologist told me that my 3 heart arteries were almost evenly plugged up all the way down to the capillaries making a bypass almost useless. Those 3 stents and medication are helping though. I'm taking finesteride to shrink the prostate and it's working but it has nasty side effects since it messes with the hormones. I'm taking Turmeric and Glucosamine Chondroitin for the arthritis. I'm sure the Turmeric is helping. Not as sure about the GC. I'm taking Zetia to reduce my cholesterol and that seems to be working. But it after a while makes my arthritis worse that same as statins did in my case. That's why I'm not taking statins. I can still do about anything I want to but have to go a little slower. You have to be tough to get old I suppose. -
If you don't mind doing the work to install the engine, it's a good opportunity to get a cheap venture.

My Whirlpool dishwasher wasn't spraying enough water to clean the dishes in the top rack. The large screen in the bottom was clean and I don't see how anything could bypass it but a piece of broken glass did and was restricting flow to the recirc pump suction. I disassembled it to get to the pump suction and removed the piece of glass and it's back to normal. I found a youtube video tha showed how to do it. There is a video on youtube showing you how to do everything!

Seafoam recomends adding one ounce per qt of oil if you use it in the engine oil. My old 2002 F150 5.4L with 165,000 miles on it recently started making a little valve train noise on cold startup. I added 6 ounces of Seafoam to the oil about 30 miles before an oil change and drove it gently. Now there is no valve train noise on cold startup. So, I was pleased with the result. I usually don't believe in oil additives but it seems to have worked well.

A while back, FedEx decided to not renew their Amazon contract. I suspect Amazon is depending on the USPS more now and they are overwhelmed maybe. The USPS is unionized so I'm sure that has something to do with the service also. I didn't have another choice for delivery from the company I ordered which is Cosmic Scope.
