  1. I wonder what the tongue weight it with a big bike aboard. Might be a lot for a small car.
  2. the Stinger does not have any suspension. I view that as a fault. they claim the tires provide a soft ride along with the motorcycles suspension. dont know, but the tires on my utility trailer have to be inflated to 90 psig and aren't flexible. I used my utility trailer (rated for 1650lbs) to tow my 535 lb ZN700 for about 20 miles on the turnpike with the tires at about 35 psig and one of the tires failed. Lesson learned. 90 means 90.
  3. To me, typing cager is easier than typing man driving a car. That's all.
  4. Last Christmas I noticed that Radio Shack had little sensors for $20 that could be used to read the exhaust pipes temperatures. Would be handy. If they are still in business. I wouldn't sync the carbs until I was sure all of the cylinders are firing correctly. You would just muck it up.
  5. I wouldn't buy it because loading a big bike is too tricky. In both of the videos where a Goldwing was loaded, the rider was putting his feet on the ground. They must have been really long legged. I couldn't reach the ground while on the trailer and there aren't enough places to put your feet on the trailer to keep the bike from falling over. Okay, I skipped over the photos to see the videos. They have added running boards now to put your feet on. So, it's probably okay if you can stand the price. I bought an 8'x5' open utility trailer ($600) from Lowes to haul my ZN700 back from WI. It isn't quite long enough for my Venture unless I load it diagonally or remove the tail gate ramp. I'm not sure how to remove it yet. An enclosed trailer would be ideal to keep the road crud off the bike. For example, when I hauled my ZN700 from NC to FL in Feb 2010, there were lots of cars with road salt all over them going to Fl from the frozen north. It was rainy and the road salt was washed off onto the road. My bike got covered with road salt.

GW, You have talked a lot about how you like to corner fast laying the bike down to where it scrubs. A patrolman might consider this reckless and give you a traffic ticket. Is riding recklessly okay but passing on a yellow line where you can see there is no danger except for not knowing you were passing a psycho so bad that it makes the rider a scumbag?
  7. Puc, we are all so envious of all of your amazing adventures with your best friend Tippy.

Whether or not the rider had a license, whether or not he was making an illegal pass, does not decrease the the cager's crime one iota.

With the video or just witnesses and license plate number, it would have been better to let him run. That would add to his crimes and punishment.

Thanks for the video link. As suspected, the guy is a scumbag and has been. This wasn't a first time going off the handle.
  11. Are you trying to cheer me up? Just kidding:) Seriously though, if there is someone on the cager's jury who thinks like you do, that the blame is equal on both sides, the cager may be found not guilty. At any rate, if the cager owns anything of value, he will lose it in the upcoming law suits. He ruined the rest of his life showing his displeasure of the biker's riding.
  12. If you really think that the biker was just as much at fault as the driver of the car, there is no point in us communicating because we could never agree on much I'm sure.
  13. No way the biker was just as much at fault. From looking at the video, it appears the yellow line was there because of the side road and you can clearly see that no one was about to come out of the side road and it was indeed safe to make the pass, irregardless of the yellow line. The biker got cited for no MC driver's licence and passing on a yellow line. The POS driving the car has been arrested for 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, sentence if convicted 2-20yrs on each count. He may as well shoot himself right now. His life is over. He's 68 yrs old. I bet nobody will miss him either.

I was obsessed with speed and racing when I was young. Cars, I didn't own a bike. Most of my irresponsible driving was done on lonely roads, much of it late night. I don't do that any more, not much anyway. But, I remember how I was and I can understand young guys who ride too fast or pass on a yellow line. Maybe that makes me different from a lot of you more responsible citizens. When I worked in Homestead, FL, the kids around there and Miami would race from point to point on their sport bikes. It wasn't unusual to see several fly by on the turnpike at speeds over 100 mph weaving in and out of traffic, some of them with girl friends on the back. My thoughts were, "God Bless Them and I hope they live to have grandchildren".

Good News! The hateful POS cage driver has been arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. If convicted the punishment is 2 - 20 years for each count.

So you guys never pass on a yellow line or speed when passing?
  17. Looks Great!
  18. I agree, Gel was the incorrect term to use. But, the glass mat is 95% saturated with the acid and it will not leak acid even if broken.
  19. Go to the tech library and read. There is a copy of the shop manual there.

That video is on Foxnews today. I suspect the car driver is in deep doodoo as he should be. The biker was speeding and passing on a yellow line. But hey, give him the finger or blow your horn to show disapproval, not ram his motorcycle with the possibility of killing the riders. He is a hateful, intolerant, narrow minded old guy who did a terrible thing. Many car drivers have been shot and killed by the police when they rammed a police car.

Intentionally hitting a motorcycle rider like that is attempted murder and should be prosecuted as such. I hope the guy rests in jail for a considerable period. If something like that happened to me, I might live to regret carrying a weapon.
  23. I didn't see any blue lights, so all it good!
  24. After the acid is added to the glass mat and charged it turns into a gel like battery just like the other AGM batteries. The plugs that come with it seals it. When I bought the Walmart Everstart Yuasa, that was my first AGM battery. I'm very happy with it. And I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one just like it. My Dodge Magnum, F150, and Boston Whaler all have AGM batteries now and they all came sealed and charged.
  25. Not in all cases. Read the link. http://www.atbatt.com/motorcycle-batteries/how-to-fill-and-charge-yuasa-ytx14-bs-motorcycle-battery
