Could you take the rim off and submerge it in water to see where the leak is? I've seen water containers at tire stores where they can submerge just a portion of the tire holding it vertical and slowly rotate the tire to see where the leak is. Aluminum wheels have been known to be porous in spots and cause leaks.

I got a similar text recently about an item I had for sale. The text message said he would send a check and when I deposited it in my bank and it cleared in a couple of days, his representative would come pick up the item. I texted back asking what bank was the check written on. The response was a bank that had a branch at my location, so I responded that I would cash it at his bank and his rep could pick it up. Didn't hear back for a couple days then he responded saying the same thing again. I didn't respond again. It was an obvious scam. Sooo many scams on craigslist.

Hey, there is only one good cure for New Bike Fever! Touring bikes usually get touring tires for longevity, not for sticking in the curves. If there are stickier tires available for the RSV, they will make a huge difference if you want to push the limits. My personal opinion on tires is that I want a sticky tire and I don't worry about how long they last. I crashed one bike when I shouldn't have because it had cheap Cheng Shin tires on it that had very little grip.

There's one more thing to consider!! You'd look great on a new BMW1600:12101:

What I don't like about depending on motels is that you have to make a reservation to make sure you have a place to sleep and that puts you on too much of a schedule. You may want to stop a little longer and enjoy the scenery or local attractions. Every method of touring has its issues. Just have to make up your own mind about what is tolerable to you.

When I worked at the Crystal River Nuke plant in FL, a couple of transient contractor co-workers like I was lived in huge expensive MHs. Both of them bought the campsites they were renting for about $69k each. Sounded kinda high to me, but what do I know? By the way, one of the owners of the campground was the actor who played Radar on the tv series Mash. A rough calc told me that they were spending about $3k per month to live in those expensive MHs counting depreciation. I rented a nice home for about $1200/month while I worked there. It IS a big hassle to move and find another place to rent though when the job ends. Living in a MH or TT was appealing to me but I could never work it out. And many of my jobs tended to be in the frozen north where campgrounds were closed in the winter and pipes freezing would be an issue.

Road Kings on my 89....Take #2.

You gonna have to take the bike down I suspect. -
I didn't have any trouble installing my ALLBALLs Racing seals. I bought a plastic pipe from Home Depot for $3 and cut off a section to lightly tap the seals in place. They were tighter than the OE seals but not any where near as much difference as you are talking about. Could you have gotten the wrong size? At any rate, we have to proceed based on our experiences.

ALL BALLS Racing seals are advertised to last 3 times as long as OE. They fit much tighter. After the fork seals failed shortly after installing OE in my Kawa ZN700, I installed All Balls seals and no problem since then.

manual... and starter specifically
BlueSky replied to zoomjay's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The 96 up royal star or 99 up Ventures have 4 brush starters. Also, the 92 and 93 1st gen ventures had 4 brush starters. Pinwall cycle salvage usually has one on ebay. Search ebay with the words XVZ1300 starter. If you search using venture, you will also get snowmobile starters http://www.ebay.com/itm/07-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ1300-Royal-Star-1300-STARTER-STARTING-MOTOR-/381425315305?hash=item58ceb86de9:g:ZIsAAOSwsB9WDuY7&vxp=mtr -
At the risk of offending Carl Norg......
BlueSky replied to Semi-retired's topic in General Tech Talk
Every car or truck I've owned (dozens)that had a screw on filter I tightened the filter with my bare hand as tight as I could get it except for one car. It was a 1975 Honda Civic with the 1488cc CVCC engine. It would come loose if I only tightened it by hand. So, I had to use a filter wrench to tighten it some more. I never bothered to put oil on the rubber seal because the surface already has oil on it from loosening the last filter. -
Fuel Pump Option?
BlueSky replied to VerntureVet's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If the carbs are empty, how does this pump fill the carbs. It takes pressure pulses from the crankcase to make the pump work. Maybe turning the engine on the starter will work? -
Oops! The test rider is a scumbag! He passed on a yellow line!

If you can't afford the Bimmer, there is always a 1st Gen Venture!

After a huge buck deer charged into the side of my car in a 35 zone within the city limits of Peru, Nebraska, I decided that as stupid as they are they were meant to be food. So, the answer is to eat more deer.

When I had my Yamaha OX66 serviced at the dealer, they were adamant about not using the red Stabil in an outboard. Told me to be sure to use the blue marine Stabil. Said the red stuff would cause problems. Using alcohol free gas means a lot too if it sits a while.

I owned a 25' travel trailer for several years when the kids were small. I could tow it with my F150. Having the F150 already and buying used kept the cost pretty low. It was great fun to take the kids "camping" in. We mostly used it at the beach. I did tow it 600 miles each way to Disney World one time. But, I don't like towing something that large. It's risky. I couldn't stop very quickly. Wind pushed it around. Big trucks passing on the interstate pushed it around. Ideally, what I think I want is a 4 wheel drive c class. I've seen a used one on ebay on rare occasions.

Check the rules for the National Parks. As I remember from way back they won't let you camp there if the MH is over a certain length. When I drove around the Sierra Mountains from Lone Pine CA to the Sequoia National Park and through the park, the roads were really curvy and I didn't see any large MHs, just smaller c class. It all depends one what you want to do with it.
-
If you are retired, an RV should be a blast. I've been wanting a small c class motorhome. But even though I'm retired, my wife is still working and we couldn't use it very much right now. 17 yr age difference Maybe one day.

The B is only used for Bias/Belted tires. Bias ply tires don't have a letter designation. You were being misleading.
