  1. Yep, it's that time of the year!
  2. Yeah, but you would look good on that ST!
  3. So what model bike is that you want to buy?
  4. http://yamahapubs.com/ This will get you a printed copy. It's not quite as good as the one that comes with the new bike or at lease for my 89. I bought a 87 GEN I owner's manual off the web as well and it has a complete foldout wiring diagram included.

  6. Do you need to pull the drive shaft and grease the front splines too?
  7. I thought you were going to say you went to look at that ST1300:)
  8. Seems to be a lot of that going on these days:crying:
  9. partzilla for OE parts
  10. I bid on a bike on ebay a few years ago. I was high bidder but did not reach the reserve. But, the seller had posted his phone number on the ebay ad somewhere. So, I called and offered what I had entered as the highest bid I would have allowed the auto bid system to go to and after a day or so, the seller took it. I was only a couple hours away so I hooked up my trailer and hauled it home. It was an excellent bike!
  11. For the benefit of the newer members, would you identify all of those young men and beautiful ladies?
  12. Buying a $750 Venture with the expectation to ride it a thousand miles home is fairly optimistic I would say. There are lots of Gen Is out there if you don't mind traveling.
  13. Okay, now you got me looking at ST1300s. It would be nice to have a fuel injected engine and that famous Honda smoothness. And there is a dealer in town that also handles Suzuki. That's it other than the Harley dealer and they never did appeal to me other than I like the sound. From what I've read, there appears to be minimal problems with ST1300s. I also did some research on the BMW R1150RT and 1200RT. I think I would like the seating position better on them but they are fugly and the reliability is not as good as the Honda. Parts and dealer charges are also noticeably higher.
  14. Yeah, don't you have an 87 parts bike that has a low mileage engine. Couldn't you move that drive train to Tweeks? But, I suppose everybody deserves another bike every 250,000 miles or so.
  15. It's been posted before and there were comments about riding with one good hand that was holding a camera! I'm sure Puc can ride better with one hand than I can with both!
  16. An engine produces the same amount of waste heat whether it is air cooled or water cooled. It's all a matter of how the cooling air flow is routed. Hopefully, it is routed so that it doesn't cook the rider's legs. Water cooling is much better and more consistent in its cooling for the engine but may not help the rider at all if the air flow is allowed to flow to the rider's legs. That said, I wouldn't buy a bike that only had air cooling because of engine longevity.
  17. I likey:big-grin-emoticon:
  18. I always joked about financing a vehicle. The first 3 months is the honeymoon and then the remainder of the payments is the hangover.
  19. A co-worker once wanted to buy a new car really bad. He had the fever! But he needed to get his wife on board with the decision. When he talked to her and told her how bad he wanted to buy a new car, she said, "The new car fever will pass in a couple of weeks!" That was not what he wanted to hear but he didn't buy and a couple of weeks later she was correct.
  20. Don't you mean she's a 13 hundred? FJR
  21. There is a lot of discussion on the internet about this subject. I found this article that says Honda makes sure the bikes don't have the weave any more. http://canadamotoguide.com/2012/11/16/interview-dave-hancock-head-of-product-planning-and-business-development-honda-motor-europe/
  22. Here is one not far from me that same year and color I believe but much cheaper and half the miles. http://norfolk.craigslist.org/mcy/5505300184.html
  23. Congratulations on selling your hawg! If you sell the boat will you also be selling you Avalanche with the mega-sized engine?
  24. Great bike! Typical Honda! That one is priced rather high seems to me. The only negative thing I've read about them is that with bags and trunk they get very unstable at about 115 mph!!
  25. Unfortunately, some auto/bike dealers will pull every trick in the book, ethical, legal, or not to get more money out of you.
