Hi , hope your well and riding safe. I have a 1996 xvz1300at, been sitting for a bit and it leaks fuel when I turn it on for a bit and stops. Local shop said carb has to be rebuilt and o rings amd gaskets are worn out. Estimated about 1500 dollar repair.
Is that prove reasonable? Anything else it could be?

I'd take a close look at the fuel lines to make sure where the gas is coming from. It could be a leaking gas line. But, it is common for some debris to get under the needle in the carb and keep it from stopping the gas flow resulting in the carb overflowing. Just replacing the needle and seat in all the carbs may be all that is needed. The diaphragms only need replacing if there is a hole in them.
That total seems high to me but I've never paid anyone to work on my bikes.
