Poll time: Do you like or dislike loud pipes? COME ONE - COME ALL!!
Illinois replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Love me some peace & quiet. 65 yrs of age appropriate hearing loss. Always wear ear plugs. If I can hear it over my pipes (stock) it's too dang loouud. Backroads rule. -
Hard to believe the difference a few hundred miles makes. Just across the river from St. Louis here; have had less than an inch of snow all winter, tied the record temp yesterday at 70* (hope I didn't jinx it). Good to hear you found a heated workspace. Think Spring.

What's in your garage? How many motorcycles do you see?
Illinois replied to pbjman's topic in Watering Hole
Lookin like 3 but the Murray should count for something. After viewing this, my garage doesn't seem all that crowded anymore. -
Glad to read it wasn't worse. Heal quickly, enjoy life.

The shame of it all, exposed for the computer putz that I am. Appreciate the help.

No more deep breathing while filling up.

Saw a blurb on the internet (so it must be true), claiming that OPEC is keeping output at current levels to making "fracking" less cost effective/ competitive.

Things to carry in a motorcycle camper
Illinois replied to CaptainJoe's topic in VentureRider Campers
Might consider one of the small LED headlamps (mines a Tika). Hands free light when out of the camper/tent. Also good for reading. Just my $.02. -

Congrats on the milestone. Gives the rest of us low mileage guys/ gals reason to smile. -
Just when I was convinced the Tour Deluxe was kinda quick () Hard to believe they can come up with a frame that will handle those speeds.

The colors, the colors; thought it was an acid flashback Just teasin, looks and works great for me. Thanks for your efforts.

Congrats on your weight loss! Wouldn't be too concerned about BMI. Many serious strength athletes fall into the obese category. Not implying ultra muscle is the way to go but from what I've read a 1968 Mr. America contender was exempted from the military draft for being overweight. Besides with a 20 lb weight-loss you just gained extra horsepower.

Pleasantly surprised with the RSTD. One of the more comfortable 2up bikes I've ever been on. That being said there are waaay too many low mileage closet queens out there to even think about taking the depreciation hit on a new ride. Just my $.02.

Glad you were able to walk away. Now you have all Winter to decide on your next ride.

Saw something I'd never seen in my 53 yrs ...
Illinois replied to midnightrider1300's topic in Watering Hole
Awesome!!! Big part of riding for me is checking out the wildlife. Won't be too long before the Eagles show back up in this area. -
Hate to be a negatoid but you did pick a big scoot to learn on. Very happy with my Tour Deluxe but it doesn't handle or stop nearly as well as my lighter V-Strom. It wasn't wise but I learned how to ride back in the 60's on one of the biggest production motorcycles available, it was a 650cc. Hope the knee comes around.

This one should cooook. Always thought early J.Giels rhythm & blues stuff was underappreciated.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Take comfort in that you provided years of a quality life. We lost one of ours last month. It takes time to heal.

New to me 2006 RSTD
Illinois replied to 2006 RSTD's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Congrats on the new ride. Don't worry about the questions, we've all been there. Short timer on this forum, have found the folks to be helpful & hospitable. -
Finally, truth in advertising.
