Don’t make the same bone headed mistake I made. If you need a jump from a car, make sure the car is not running. They are both 12v, but the alternator from the car puts out more than 12v and much higher amperage than your bike. Just hooking up the cars battery will be plenty to start your bike. Thankfully it didn’t cause too much of a headache for me, but it could have been much worse.

Fixed! It was the connector pictured in my previous post. Put in a new one and everything is working normally.

I have a new connector on the way. I’ll post an update when I get it installed.

Thanks for the replies, I installed a new starter solenoid, did not fix the problem, looked at the start button and it looks ok, connected the battery with the start button disconnected and still gettin power on with the ignition in the off position. Any advice on where to look next would be greatly appreciated.

Could this be a starter relay? I have the ignition switch completely disconnected and when I connect the battery power comes on and the starter will motor.

The bike will start and run, power does not shut off when the key is off and removed.

Has any one had an ignition switch fail so that power to the bike remains on even when the key is off? This is happening on my bike. I got off of work this morning and my battery was low and wouldn’t start the bike, I got a jump, and when I got home the power would not shut off. I have the battery disconnected now. edit: I have the bypass relay installed, could the relay have failed closed?

Ok I went out and pulled one of the bolts from my light bar, diameter looks to be M8 thread pitch is 1.25. forgot to measure length, but 1.25” should be about right.

Opened up the fairing this weekend to install an LED headlight bulb and fix my passing lamps. The fuse for my passing lamps looked good, but the fuse holder wasn’t closing tight enough to make good contact, so I wired in a new blade type fuse holder that I had in the tool box and while I was at it I added a few extra inches of wire so I could run the fuse to the rear opening of the fairing by the triple trees. Now if the fuse blows I don’t have to split the fairing to replace it. IMG_1411.MOV

The bolt head is 10mm, not sure about the bolt diameter and thread pitch though. I wish I had seen this post earlier, I just had my passing lamp bar off.

I haven’t run them on my RSV, but I ran a couple sets on my last bike, a Suzuki Boulevard, and I loved them.

It is actually legal here in California, it is called lane sharing. Most riders do not follow the actual law while doing it though. Technically it is only legal when the prevailing flow of traffic is 25 mph or less, and riders are not supposed to go more than 5mph faster than the prevailing flow. When I first moved here I didn’t know what the heck was going on with all the motorcycles, so I looked it up.

I had a bagger shield, and really liked it. Great around town when in shorty mode, but I did get some buffeting on the highway and it was not great at all for the passenger. But with the clear top portion in the up position it provided ample wind protection for myself and the passenger. Unfortunately a garage incident left it broken and i had to go back to stock.

I'm pretty sure the khrome werks 10" bagger bars will work. Someone either on this sight or the delphi venture tour deluxe site has done it.

I still cant believe they put an air cooled v twin in it. Even Harley is liquid cooling their touring bikes (at least the heads).

Nice Puc! Forget the naysayers and haters of the 92. I was in the Army for twelve years, most of that time as a warrant officer and the M-9 was my assigned personal weapon. I have shot M-9’s that had had thousands and thousands of rounds put through them and some were likely older than I was, and not one ever failed to put rounds on target and I can honestly say I never had a malfunction. They are a little big and heavy, and not so glamorous, but they are reliable and accurate.

Ok just found this on partzilla, looks like 1999 is a separate bolt and seal. Bolt: 90109-066F0-00 Seal: 5EA-1111G-00-00 Also, partzilla appears to have the best price at $10.61 ea for the seals.
