Stopped for gas, no problems whatsoever prior to stopping and now when I try to start the bike there is no response when I press the start button. Any ideas on where to start looking? Stand is up, transmission in neutral, key is all the way over to on (right). Gear indicator is showing N, clutch is pulled in. When I put the kill switch to run position I hear a click from the dash but no clicking from the fuel pump. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

How much are these collectors from Mark? -
Does anyone have an answer to the OP? Is anyone running a CT on a first gen?

I just wanted to post this as I read every thread that referenced the clutch not working. I had an issue with the clutch ever since I replaced the fluid last season. I decided to rebuild the master after my first test ride of the season this year because the clutch was engaging almost immediately when the lever left the hand grip. The rebuild went through without a hitch however I couldn't get the clutch to work and the lever was very soft. After trying everything up to and including splitting the faring to see if the fluid was making to the joint between the hard and rubber line, I decided to try bleeding the system one more time. That brings me to the point of this post. I read some old threads and my two take-away quotes from those were: 1 - "I used almost a whole bottle of fluid before I got all the air out" 2 - "bleed it and then bleed it again and when you think you've bled it enough, keep bleeding it" Now, I may not have the quotes exact but the points are made. I want to assure anyone else who finds themselves in my shoes without anyone close by to give them moral support - bleed the darn thing and just when you thing you've bled it as much as you can, keep bleeding. And have a full bottle of fluid on hand. You will get all the air out and that lever will eventually work! Thanks for all of you who have posted in the past to help educate those of us that are newer to the Venture family. This community is well worth the $12/year!

Cruise control problems

Maybe a more experienced person can chime in here but I thought I read somewhere that the float in the rear master cylinder can get caught up somehow and make the sensor read a low fluid reading. I think the fix was to rebuild it but I'm not sure where that thread is to verify. I'll keep looking because this is what I experienced at the end of the last season. The low fluid warning would come and go intermittently for me, is that what you experienced or did the warning light come on and stay on? -

I'm in the same boat... Collector is pretty bad. I can't weld and don't have any contacts. -
Glad you're both okay... Thoughts and prayers for a quick and full recovery! Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2

I subscribe to this guy, I find him entertaining. He did fix the whine in one of his videos on his channel. Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2 -
http://www.hennessyhammock.com/ For those that can sleep in a hammock I swear by this one. Very comfortable and the lines are long so you don't need to find trees that are close together. I've had mine for about 5 years and I hate sleeping in a tent on the ground now. Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2

speedometer cable came off
suds replied to suds's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Any idea what would cause it to come undone? Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2 -
I was out for a ride today and the speedometer quit working. When I got to a safe place to pull over I saw that the end of the cable had come loose at the front wheel. I've never worked with speedometers before but from reading posts here it seems there should be an inner cable that appears to be missing on my bike. Past posts have talked about using a universal cable for cars that may need to be cut to fit. Any suggestions here? Part numbers? Also, what lube should I use when I do get the replacement? I have a 1990 VR. Thanks in advance for any help. suds

I noticed this on my 1990 VR as well... good to know it's "normal". Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2

DOT or Snell are what's required in Ontario. I'm going through the graduated licencing here in Ontario and support it fully. Although I'm riding my VR I think a graduated system of displacements would also be a good thing based on some of the stuff I saw riders doing in my course.

clutch slave rebuild?
suds replied to suds's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
So, first off thank you to all the members that offered assistance and guidance. I left the clutch lever zip-tied to the grip with the the cap of the master cylinder loosened over night. Secondly... and now the tough part for my ego... I believe that the problem after me bleeding the system may have been a simple as... drumroll.... I had the side stand down. I just took the beast for a short ride out of town and back without incident. I got a message from Neil86 who, I'm sure, was trying to save my ego by sending me a private message alerting me to the interlocks and I thank him for that consideration. I chose to post this to give the thread some closure and so that future "newbies" like me can avoid the same mistake of premature freak outs rather than just "abandoning" the thread. I now know that I have nice clean fluid in the clutch system and a warm fuzzy feeling that I've joined a fantastic bunch of people on this forum. Thanks again, Suds -

clutch slave rebuild?
suds replied to suds's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
No leaks that I've seen but the fluid level was very low and dark in colour. The bike sat for 2 days in my garage and there was no drips on the floor under the bike whatsoever. The lever feels normal to me and was obviously pushing fluid through as I was.able to bleed the system. Any suggestions as to what to do for diagnosis is welcomed.
