  1. On my 01 RSV, sometimes (3-4 times per week) when I go to fire it up, it takes longer than it should to fire and runs weak like it is misfiring for a few seconds. when ever it does this, it also resets my tripometer, and displays my Odometer. I brought it home today at lunch time and put it on the battery tender. Anybody have this happen before? Is my battery getting ready to die; if so, what is the best battery (price does not matter).
  2. See, not all Hardley riders are bad. I think that was Lone Eagle's bike

  4. Don, we give you tons of crap about your beautiful Harley, and you never throw our substandard charging system, weak radio, failing 2nd gear, transmission whine, missing shifter bolt, barely visible lights, and weak clutch in our faces. Heck, you like ventures more than Yamaha does. Thanks for all you do.
  5. Calperin, what month was your 84 built? Tried to Pm you, but your mailbox is full. Sorry for the thread jack.
  6. 2 reason why that can't be Puc: it has a GPS on it; Puc, Tippy, and Tweeks don't need gps. They go in a general direction and get to where ever eventually. Secondly, they have a hard thermos for water on the handle bars. For safety reasons puc only uses styrofoam cups, and the plastic water jug on the antenna.

  8. I feel your pain, I lost my 8mm ratcheting box wrench about 3 weeks ago. The chart does not work for military guys. We are forced to be beardless.
  9. Tell your friends from SA to take you out to Leaky by way of bandera. I alway had breakfast at OST (old Spanish trail) in bandera. The potato, sausage, egg and cheese breakfast taco is great. I am jealeous, the riding out there is great.
  10. Saw this on Facebook. It gave me a little chuckle. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/430A7EDF-C5AA-49AC-86EB-D711469E731D.jpg
  11. "When ya gonna upgrade to a Harley" while in Idaho at a gas station with Nevada Plates "can you ride that thing all loaded down like that" "is it heavy" "Can you teach me to ride on that thing?" Heck no I can't. They always ask when I am on the 1st gen. I guess they think it is an old POS and I don't care about it. Little do they know, that is my favorite out of all 9 of the bike I have owned over the past decade.
  12. Amen, and if you ride fast and hard and have obnoxiously loud pipes, you might not hear your brakes wear out until it is too late.
  13. Thanks for the bump, I forgot to look when I got home 2/84 (very rare) JYA41R002EA002025

  15. I might have fallen victim to a sticky caliper, but as Puc said, I would bet it is my riding style. I did most of my early riding on a sport bike doing some very fast riding in the Texas Hill Country. I trail brake into turns more often than not because I forget I am on a 900lb bike. The 1st and 2nd gen brake calipers are not the same. I was thinking about checking the pistons and steeling one from my 1st gen, but I found a used caliper for $33. Not bad at all. I think brake pads are going to go in with the oil change rotation. Changing pads early beats replacing rotors all the time. Plus I have a really cool rotor now.

I always tell people I want to take my RSV to a track day. Didn't figure anyone ever did...well done.
  17. It's my 01 with 16,947 miles.
  18. I know, that is why I was so shocked. I guess these brakes are quiet even when they are metal to metal. I just did the MSF expierienced rider course a few weeks before the panic stop. If it were making noise then, someone would have said something. It was less than 100 miles ago.
  19. I was planning to do the brake pads this winter along with a few other things. I had a panick stop situation a few weeks ago and heard grinding and felt the brake pulsate. So I got home using only front brakes, which by the way is very weird. I ordered new pads and when they came in i went to go change them. The rotor was trashed, so I ordered a rotor and waited for it to come in. Today I decided to take my 11 yr old son into the garage to teach him some basic maintenance. Well...look at the pics below. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/5739D6CB-F0DB-4C1B-9BDF-62E3EBC88E49.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/CDFAECF8-7488-48A3-B89A-8E89A0D0FFEC.jpg I don't think the piston was supposed to come out with the brake pad. I also don't think it was supposed to touch the rotor. Oh well now I am waiting on a caliper because they are cheeper than a new piston.
  20. I like staying at my house. If anyone is ever out in Vegas, hit me up. PM or call, I am always up to ride out for dinner or lunch with fellow venture riders. There is a small list of people on this site that can stay at my house if they need a rent free place to stay.
  21. The light on the left does not fit the hole properly. It is just a generic light. I am looking for the square lights. I can't find them apart from the chin spoiler. I don't want to drop $100+ for 2 lights. I am thinking about just removing the spoiler.
  22. I cannot find this light anywhere. I have searched: running lights, air dam lights, spoiler lights, splitter lights, fog lights. No luck. Does anybody know what they are called and where I can find a set that properly fills the holes. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/8F731373-8D72-4B39-9759-1BD2209FF3C9.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/A383DC0D-D4A8-4F28-A023-69F1626EE14B.jpg
  23. Talk with Rick Butler, he can fix your current seat. just search butler seat mod and you will find tons of praise about it.
  24. Yup that is what I was going to say. I can meet you at the Hoover dam and lead you back to my place in the most indirect/fun route possible and then you can pick the couch or the queen size air mattress. Then I could follow you out to Death Valley and call it a good couple days. If you wanted to hang out in Vegas for a few days, you could do that too.
  25. I have to completely tear down the 84 and repair broken tabs, clean everything, and fix the leak that is running down my kickstand. Plus normal fluid and filter changes. The 01 needs rear brake pads. But...I live in Las Vegas and do not have a winter.
