I have the powder coat gun and the hobby oven. They work great. I have done several bikes parts on past bikes. Everything I did to include footpegs held up really well. I use powder from other sources though. Ohio Custom Coatings has been my favorite. I have not nor will I try the harbor freight powder.

I have the back pouch on the driver backrest. I am considering getting rid of the backrest I am not a fan of them. I have one on my 1st and 2nd gen.

So here we are. I am waiting on my TCI to get here, so I decided to go ahead and fix all the other things that require tearing into my bike. I replaced the valve cover gaskets and did a lot of cleaning and painting. How do you like the gold and blue? I like the new wire covers that I used.

Venture west 2014 was pretty big. I was in Texas for venture west 2015 and in the middle East for VW 2016, so I do not know who ran the last two or how well they did, but I am going to VW 2017 come hell or high water. Well maybe not high water, driving through a flood is not fun. 2014 was in Oregon and it was a blast. I love the weather.

We need some rallies or meet & eats over on the west coast or Nevada, Utah, Arizona area.

It does. I agree, that is a very nice bike and better trailer than mine. I think you are asking too little for it.

A second opinion was not needed on these diaphragms.

I decided to tear into my TCI. After getting part of the way in I actually stopped caring about not breaking it. I could not get the connectors in soldered, so I just cracked the board right there. Here are the pics. The first is the screws that hold the TCI housing shut. 2 snapped and the other 2 lost threads. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/PHOTO_20161119_155055.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/PHOTO_20161119_151223.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/PHOTO_20161119_151853.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/PHOTO_20161119_154405.jpg I only lost 1 cylinder, so it is not as bad as I expected it to look. The leads from the plug to the board were all very rusty. -
I feel your pain, I am trying to sell my 2001 RSV ($4500) and my 1987 Suburban 2500 4X4 ($3500). I keep getting low ball offers and people wasting my time picking my vehicles apart.

After searching many threads, I found an email address for ignitech. I emailed them and will order a TCI as soon as I can. Then I will talk with Heather or Dingy and get a good map for it. Can't wait to be riding the 84 full time. -

I tried looking for ignitek on eBay because others have stated they got theirs from there. Anyone know where to get one. Looking to buy today. -

Suspected coil is good. Still no spark on front right cylinder. I guess I need to get back to the TCI and clean the plugs again. And read up on aftermarket replacements for it. -

I just checked the coil from the electrical connection with a multimeter. It was jumping all over the place, but the resistance appears to be correct. I was hoping it would test bad. Now I do have to swap coils and if the problem stays on that cylinder, I do not know where to go from there. -

I replaced the wires tonight and started it up. It sounded amazing compared to before when I was running on 2 cylinders. I let her idle for a few moments and then checked the pipes to see if I had all 4 cylinders back. Sadly I am only running on 3 cylinders although I am glad I only had to burn the heck out of my fingers 3 times. I checked my initial finding by putting the spark tester inline. After there was no spark I pulled the wire from both sides and checked continuity. The wire to the boot is perfect and the coil was stabbed into the right spot. Tomorrow I will tear a little further into the bike and switch 2 coils and see if the problem follows. I also need to get one of those little thermometer guns with the laser aiming. Probably better than using my finger tips in the exhaust. -

Here is a video of the bike with new diaphragms. You can hear that I was only running on a few cylinders. There is no need to watch all 6 minutes, just the first few is fine. I need to find a better way to hold my phone so I can Video fun rides. -

I already bought and replaced mine. Thanks for the offer though. -

I was reading the trip report about the Canada to Mexico trip and already put a set of those springs on my amazon list. You know how spirited I like to ride when I am out away from traffic. Puc, what spare parts do you carry with you when traveling cross country? I need to start getting that ready so I can venture out on Genesis. Kind of like my last big trip from S. Dakota to Nevada. I made that one on dumb luck and no tail light after Utah. -

All 4 pictures are of different diaphragms. They all had holes. I was also only running on 2 cylinders. I can't wait to be running right. -

I got it off of eBay. It was $20.25 for 10 feet of 7MM 440 spark plug wire. I should only need 7.5 feet, but oh well.

I have left both my ventures fairly stock. They both came with some add ons. All I add is plugs, wires, oil, filters, batteries, tires, and replace anything else that breaks. On another note. Puc, how are you able to stand on Tweaks, Genesis leans over way to far to stand on.

I am pretty sure I found my issues. TCI connectors were really bad. So I used some cleaner and 1500 grit sand paper to lightly clean them. My other issue is picture below. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20161108_121511919.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20161108_121506434.jpg I had to cut several inches off to get to not corroded wire that was connected to the other end. So I am getting all new boots and getting some 7mm wire and fixing this issue. Hopefully she will pur like a rabid lion after that.

I used a Bike master spark detector. I will check the coils tomorrow. Thank you for the offer, if my coils are bad, I'll use this as an excuse to upgrade to newer better technology.

Okay, where to start. I did the shotgun method to clean my carbs, replaced all 4 diaphragms (pics of old ones will be in watering hole shortly), I have all types of water remover and gas fixer in the tank with some new fresh 89 octane, I received my spark tester today and figured out that my right rear cylinder has no spark. The front right cylinder fires when it wants. It was very spuratic and sometimes did not fire for several seconds. I have not checked the left side of the bike yet. I think I will be replacing most if not all of the ignition system. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good system? Is there anything else that would make my bike not fire?
-
I only checked the right side tonight because I need to help around the house, but the right rear cylinder is not firing at all. The front right one fires when it wants. It is very spuratic and sometimes misses several cycles. Looks like I will be replacing my ignition system. Anybody have any recommendations for good ones? Or does anyone have any knowledge of something else that causes cylinders not to fire?
