  1. too fast, and I looked up 1934, but they use the same pictures for all the years around that time.
  2. http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w331/tebird55/DSC00205_zpsd0dfc33d.jpg Yes it is a real bike. Good luck. Sorry if it has already been done. This is one of the few bikes I would ride instead of my RSV.
  3. I am going to resharpen the jacked up awl and try again tonight. if that does not work, I might put some .40 cal holes in it.
  4. you could look at the honda valkyrie interstate. They are pretty good looking little bikes. I have never ridden a 1st gen, so I would not know how it compares.
  5. There is a 1990 VR with a little under 38K miles on it in Vegas. for $2995.
  6. I might have been. I am just going to buy a punch set and beat the snot out of it. I will get those holes.
  7. I guess the quality of the awl matters a little bit. Or that metal is not as soft as some may think. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/93A59195-6DC1-4FDD-8FD1-C6CEA6A5EE82.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/D1A72510-A527-498E-A9DE-A1C9B35C9E93.jpg
  8. No need for apologies, i like where the thread is heading. I personally will have my mountain bike camel backpack on my tank like a tank bag. 3 liters of water and expandable storage. I ride with a 3/4 helmet now, so I can eat and drink in the saddle.
  9. We need a venture sighting section. I have now seen a burgundy (black cherry I think) twice on the same stretch of road on 2 different day. To day i pulled a u-turn and have chase, but traffic sucked too much. The RSV was on Craig near I-15. Besides Kantornado, how many other LV, NV RSVs do we have?
  10. I am 30 now, just barely broken in like my bike. So i still have the advantage of being young and adventurous without the painfully dumb part of youth.
  11. Trying for that classic old school look. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/A308E96F-CD1A-437C-B32F-67CF1DA691DC.jpg
  12. Down that square hole? That is what I feared. Now I have something else to pull apart and clean periodically.
  13. Dang just realized I posted in watering hole and not tech section. I guess lazy and absent minded would be a better description for tonight.
  14. I found a hose(believe it to be the crank case breather) it is leaking ON my bike. Question is, does this hook up to the airbox or should it be draining else where. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/F75843D0-8045-448D-ABDC-60A9F15CB603.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/C3E86EFB-EB86-45C6-A280-38947AAC6728.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Mobile%20Uploads/7C4D3A2A-F18D-4BFD-9A82-022AE91D34F3.jpg
  15. To answere a few questions, i do not have a trailer, but I am riding solo, so I do have a passenger seat begging for a large bag. On another note, cowpuc, you are one crazy old man, i look forward to meeting you up there at the venture west meet.
  16. Define what Touring means to you. A long weekend of flower sniffing (2-300 miles per day) or a week+ of 600+ miles? Hoteling or camping? Only when warm or in all weather. The packing list will differ. RR Definition for this time is a 5 day trip through 4 states (one being California south to north). Camping in Oregon.
  17. I posted this in the Venture West thread. I am a newbe when it comes to touring on motorcycles. so I have been doing a lot of research. I found this pretty good list of stuff to pack. it is going to be the starting point for my list. http://www.motorcycletouring.us/pack_list.htm any other tips or tricks from our more experienced guys would be greatly appriciated. -Coffey
  18. Since the stand is still providing a stable base, I would ratchet strap the bike to the stand and cut the bent bar. Then proceed as normal. I would tighten up 2 ratchet straps and have 2 more in place ready to tighten up once you cut the bar.
  19. I want to get an 84 so the bike will be as old as I am.
  20. a picture of the the situation would help us understand. also let us know the type of lifts, stands, and jacks you have available.
  21. You can find a new petcock for about $20. Mine is a pain to start turning (almost like it is stuck)then it is smooth and easy.

  23. If you just unbolt the tank and slide it back, it makes it easy to access the front plugs. However, if you get that far, just disconnect the front wires and the fuel hose. Put the whole tank aside and it makes it real simple.
  24. I like it. If you notice the ground all around the bike...that was dumb, it was a pain to get out of there.
