  1. if it is the stock wind screen, you are looking at a new one. they have a very thin film over them that peals off very easily, so polishing would be out of the question. I do wonder what would happen if you pealed the thin layer off completely. I pealed part of it up while applying a decal.
  2. I have never been to Canada, and will find myself about 5 hours away from Canada on Labor Day weekend. I want to ride on up there so I can say I did. The only problem is that I will have just purchased the motorcycle I will be riding. I will have the signed over title and a bill of sale. Will I have any issues getting in and out of Canada, or should I just stay in the USA?
  3. The search is over. Bendtdj is selling me his Feb 84 bike. Now I just have to wait until the 27th of Aug to fly out and get it. I wanted to wait that late so that I could buy it, slap some new rubber on it and head up to Grandpagak's place in Minnesota for the pig roast. Day 2 of owning that thing is going to be at an event; then after that it will be 1,700 miles home. I think she and I are starting off on the right foot.
  4. You and Tippy will love it. The way she talks about sailing and being on the open water and meeting people made me think of y'all.
  5. I just watched "maidentrip". So many of the things that young lady said fits motorcycling and our way of life so well. I completely understand what she Means about common interest drawing people together who would not normally become friends due to age or other factors.
  6. I agree with the people above. Sew all patches on. If you take it somewhere it is usually only $5 per patch, or you can buy a heavy gauge needle and do it yourself.
  7. I stripped one of the allen head screws, so I am replacing them all with hex head bolts so I will not have to worry about the allen head stripping out.
  8. yammer dan, is that bubs with or without the baffles in. I am running baffles out right now. it is stupid loud. I am going to pack the baffles and put them back in; it will make the bike a little more civilized.
  9. Jack it up, take of the bags, remove rear wheel (drive shaft/axle). Don't let the bags or the shaft drive scare you. It is simple.
  10. Today on the way to church I was not paying attention. I was in the left lane of a 3 lane road. I was listening to music thinking about life and I was tired from lack of sleep this week and weekend. I should not have been riding this morning but for some reason I rode anyway. As I was approaching an intersection and suddenly noticed the light was red. I grabbed and smashed the brakes. The whole world slowed down and I seemed to accelerate from the 55mph that I was traveling. My back tire started to come around to the left. I leaned hard left to keep the bike from dropping to the right. When I was almost 90 degrees turned around, i released the brakes and violently straightened back up. Jammed the brakes again and kicked the rearend out to the right side. By this time I was slowing down but I was in the middle of the intersection. I shook my head and twisted the throttle and finished my way through the intersection. Now you have to realize that I went over the white painted line of the intersection and over a crosswalk. Cars were in both of the other lanes, and in Las Vegas, intersections are never empty. The Good Lord obviously did not want me to wreck today although I should have. I put this in safety to remind people that we need to pay attention, and if you are not feeling it; don't ride. I am rejuvenated and feeling blessed by God and ready to ride now. So my return trip will be fine.

  12. My local club Nellis Desert Eagle Rider's Club (NDERC) finally named me. I will now be "Preacher" to them
  13. I did one side at a time, but other than that, I did nothing special when I removed mine.
  14. WTH you were in Las Vegas and did not hit me up. :no-no-no:
  15. he just got back to me. he said he thinks it is already sold, he is just waiting on the funds transfer. I hope someone is trying to scam him and he does not fall for it. then I can go get it.
  16. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/mcy/4543708032.html is this one it? he is not getting back to me. Oh well he will get back to me soon, time to round up a trailer so I can go get it.
  17. $180, no thanks.
  18. I had a friend who used a milk crate on his luggage rack. he finished the bottom of the crate so it was more comfortable for his dog and he had the dog in a harness and just double strapped the do to the sides of the crate. He also had goggles and a leather vest for his dog.
  19. I am also considering it. there is a darksider section of this forum. it will give you all the info you want, plus a lot that you don't want.
  20. http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/4572374912.html This guy is not even willing to go check to see if his bike is a 2/84. he only wants to deal with local people. I could understand if I was wanting to paypal him and have him ship the bike, but I am offering to fly into Michigan, drive down to ohio and pay him cash in person. he just texted me. he is coming around now. he is going to go check. it took a lot of convincing. I don't understand why some people are so rude. I ask a simple question about a bike and they ask me why does it matter. I let them know and some are cool with it, some are down right rude. In this case I am the customer, I want what I want, and I am willing to wait for it.
  21. Ooooh I know, I see Tweeks in the back ground and the trailer is right beside my bike. Another hint, he does not have an account on here, it is his wife's account. He is Mr. Xxxxxxxxxx.
  22. Yup, i check Las Vegas and all the surrounding states daily. Then i check michigan and all the surrounding states. I think I am wishing to find one over in the michigan ohio area. Then I get to get MY bike and instantly have an adventure with great friends.
  23. Thanks, if you ever want to sell it, look me up. Now to continue the search.
  24. I just read what I posted. It sounded mean. It is not meant that way. I know stickers on the outside are not for everybody. I like the look of the hidden stickers (my tool box in my garage is that way). I was just explaining why I am doing what I am doing...I have no clue why Puc does what he does:whistling:
  25. That is cool if that is how you want to do it, but I bet your stickers do not spark conversation with just about everybody in the world. I am not talking about "hey cool bike"; those few days in Oregon and Washington, we talked for a while with a lot of different people. Took pictures with people around Puc's bike (it might be more accurate to say that PUC is Tweeks' rider not the other way around). people who did not even own bikes came, talked, took pictures and signed Tweeks. I am looking to make Exodus (the bike that owns me) a conversation piece and a record of where we have traveled and who we have met along the way.
