  1. When the fuel light comes on on my 2006 I have about 6-8 miles (on the count up) before I need to switch to reserve, then I figurre I have another 80 miles before I need to worry about it. As for the speedo ... I use the GPS or just deduct 5mph and I figure thats close enough.
  2. Maybe, but if that happened I don't think I would show the positive mA charge rate at all...
  3. I have a bit of a minor quandary here. Hopefully someone else has had and solved this issue. Please bear with me as I try to go through the iterations... heh With my phone plugged into the OEM charging socket in the fairing, my S7 will recognize the charge, show that it's charging, but will slowly discharge over the course of the ride; maybe 10-15% an hour or so. Using the same plug and cord in the car, running all the same aps, the phone will charge. Then I downloaded an app called "ampere" that measures real time charging rates. The bike and the car both show positive charging rates - and at times the bike is higher then the car .... generally somewhere between +390-590mA. I use hi output plugs - 2.2-2.4a, nice and tight Schoshe one... that works perfectly in the car. My question is: Has anyone experienced this slow discharge on the bike, and how did you correct it? Is it possible that the vibration is causing enough of an intermittent connection (breaking multiple times a second???) that the overall effect is negative? I am realizing that I need to go for a ride with the charging app running... I'll try to do that and repost this afternoon. I cant be the only person this has happened to... can I ??? TIA
  4. Cant find them if they are here, so does anyone have any instructions or comments on lowering a 2006 RSV? I have done a back tire myself, so I think thats going to be pretty much almost the same?? TIA Mike
  5. I love mine. Top down almost always with full face helmets. Buy it and you'll love it. Plus they look great.
  6. Like magic! Well worth the price of admission
  7. Thanks and it seems so far, for tonights ride anyway, that it was the little extension I had on there. Thanks all.... panic has subsided
  8. So .... Seems like my 2-1/2 year old OEM shock is dead or dying. Doesn't hold air for more than a day or two and then my rear is bumping rather soundly on our beautiful Rhode Island roads. I just realized this seond that I have an air fill extension on it... I'm going to remove that in case that is causing the air to leak out... but if it isn't... Any recommendations for a replacement shock. With 2-up we are carrying around 400 lbs. I suppose this isn't much more work than replacing the rear tire .... Poop.... I'm bummed... I'll let you guys know if I solve it by removing the air stem extension... Thanks
  9. OK ... the axel is in... guess I just needed to vent and use a hammer... Still checking on the bearing position. TIA
  10. frustrated beyond belief. Ready to push bike off lift and let it rust into fine dust, then sweep it up and throw it away.... Anyway, I'm having trouble getting the rear axel all the way in. I can get it to where the shoulder just hits and starts to slide into the swingarm, and then no further. Dont want to use a BFH and ruin the threads on the end. Everything seems fine, just cant get it further. Also, between the brake support thing bar and the wheel itself there is a bearing that has a shoulder on it. So shoulder goes into the tire or into the brake support?? I think it goes to the tire. Thanks again as always! Mike
  11. They don't sound bad at all. I always thought they were stock. If I had to, I'd replace them with the same.
  12. OK.... hmmmmmm. Well that explains my post from a few days ago asking about the gaskets. guess there aren't any! I knocked the rust off the pipe, put on some never seize and slid it on... seems the clamp is not tightening. Hmmmm.... that might explain the mystery washers I also posted about. I'll bet the PO used the washers to make up the slack. Well, I'll slide this one off and take a look at why it isn't tightening. I cant really see ... maybe theres a problem with the clamp itself. Heh... never ends....
  13. and says "This Harley Davidson exhaust system ......" heh... so did HD make them?? They look like the stock ones to me. ALSO.... one of the clamps is as tight as I can get it, but loose on the pipes. Sounds like the gasket got pushed in, correct? So what are my chances of pulling it out and reusing it? Not sure I can find it locally and I am pretty excited about getting back on the road after changing the rear tire myself (thanks to Freebird and others here!!)! If I have to order them I'll be sitting through the weekend... I'll call around tomorrow and see if I can fnd some somewhere. Thanks
  14. Holy moly that thing is beautiful! Wow..... Good luck and safe riding!
  15. What is it? a speed sensor? and how does it come out? I took the bolt out but it seems to be in there real tight. Don't want to break it. Thanks as always.
  16. You are correct. I fat fingered something somewhere. Thank you
  17. I think the gaskets are there... they are pushed into the mufflers an inch or so. Pretty sure thats what I'm looking at. The mufflers certainly weren't loose!
  18. No problem. The 1-1/16 will convert to 29.5mm so it probably calls for a 29mm. Thanks for the great tutorial, I am following it step by step and it is a great help. Thank you for doing that.
  19. Changing my rear tire. I saw Freebirds tutorial, which is working great but it says I need a 1-1/6" socket for the rear axel main bolt. So ... thats not a regular thing, and it converts to something like 29.5mm which isn't a real thing either. Since I need to buy this socket can someone please let me know what size it is?? Thanks
  20. Hmmmm ... if they are that thin maybe I missed them. I was not too sure what I was looking for, and didn't expect something that thin.
  21. Thanks as always. What grease do you use on the splines? Regular white lithium stuff? TIA
  22. I am working on getting the rear tire off my 06 RSV, and it's going good. Taking my time. I do have a couple of questions now though. I got the muffler off, but I don't see any gasket at all. I'm sure I didn't miss it..??? did I??? Looks like it was metal to metal tightened with the band clamp... no gasket at all. Is that possible??? Also as I was loosening the band clamp that holds the muffler on, two bent washers fell out of somewhere. I'd guess they go between the clamp band and the outside of the muffler tabs?? Is that right? Do they go in any special place - top & bottom?? Side and side? Other than that I think it's going well ... but stay tuned! TIA Mike
  23. Thank you all for the replies. Rick, you may just get my seat someday, but these tears are all set. I used a Sharpie to color the white cloth below the vinyl, then I glued the vinyl down with some clear silicone worked in with a toothpick. It couldn't have worked out any better. Thanks again
  24. if I remove the mufflers, I suppose I need new gaskets to put them back on, anything else come to mind? Any issues doing this with a motorcycle jack and lift adapter, rather than a lift table? TIA as always Mike
  25. UPON FURTHER REVIEW .... It seems that the only damaged part is the vinyl skin itself. The white backing below isn't torn at all... so taking the cover off and repairing from the inside wouldn't help. So I colored the white material with a sharpie and I'm going to stick the small "flap of vinyl with some clear silicone (I think). That's the plan for now. Thanks all for your input.
