At Fort Miegs

My Wife and I took a bike trip through History in North West Ohio. We visited Fort Recovery, The Battle of Fallen Timbers, and Fort Meigs. It was an awesome adventure and it was great to see these places. Hard to Believe that Ohio was so influential in our American history.

Mine still has some rain that will sit there, but not as bad as the stock. With my Clearview I can still see very well while riding in the rain. As for the humidity on the back of the windshield, I've found if I position the vent to force air onto the windshield it clears the humidity up so I have a clear view. Sam

Yeah, Clearview designed the windshield with more angle so the air will blow the rain off as your riding. It works so much better than stock design. Check out their website and look at the pictures. You'll see it looks a little different. Sam

I swapped mine out for a Clearview windshield. Best investment I ever made. They are expensive, but they shed water well and fog also. Make sure to spend the extra money for the vent. its worth it!

I'll try to air up a bit. But, being and off road guy where you air down for traction, I would think a lower air pressure would provide better traction.

Hhhmmm...well after talking to some guys at work, they stated they lost traction driving their cars in that last rain. We've had rain recently, but maybe not enough to clean the roads. My problem is I have lost traction several times with this set of tires, more than any other bike or tires I've ridden on and I ride in the rain allot. To answer your question, I run 36psi front and rear for just casual riding. I air up the rear tire to 40psi when fully loaded with a passenger.

Ok, I'm done with these tires. I rode home last night in the rain and these Michelin's broke traction again. I like the idea of long distance tires, but when you ride as much as I do and get caught in the rain, its not worth it. I've never had Dunlops, Kenda's, or Shinko's break traction as much as these tires do. If you ride in the rain, don't put Commander II's on your bike.

Just an update: I've put about 1000 miles on my bike since installing the Bead Rider and I Love it! On hot days it really helps keep my Bum cool. However, I bought the set for rider and passenger and I had to stop and remove the passenger seat. My wife felt like she was going to slide off the bike when going around curves. I think because the drivers seat is dished out, it helps to keep you from rolling around.

Ok, I will. Taking the antennas off really cleaned the bike up. I've had several compliments since I did it. I'm hoping to remove the plug holders off the tank tonight. I had to get my heat gun back from one of my buddies. Sam

I'm like you, I think they look great with the tour pack off. But my wife really likes riding with the tour pack, so it stays. In a few years, I'm hoping to move up to an Indian, Victory, or if Yamaha brings out a new RSV. If so, I may customize my RSV now and make it a bagger with a 6 inch windshield. Just for fun :-)

Doug, I only removed the audio and CB package. The bike is looks like a normal RSV other than the drivers 5 pin connector and the handle bar remote is removed. I have a blue tooth system and didn't need them, plus the 5 pin connector got in the way of a tank bag I like to use. Sam

Well, Last night the wife was with her Mom at the mall, all kids were out and about, and the weather showed rain everywhere. So after dinner at my favorite restaurant(Rowdy's in Jackson Ohio, locally owned BBQ joint that I highly recommend) I went home and tore into my bike to remove the rest of the audio system. I mainly wanted to remove the handle bar remote controller, and the plug that sits on top of the gas tank(Why would Yamaha put that there?) Not only did this require splitting the fairing, but I also had to remove the drivers seat, gas tank, and handle bars! It was allot of work, but I got all the components removed including the Amp and I learned allot about my bike. I was also able to install an addition Powerlett connector so that my wife and I can both run our heated jacket liners this fall. Now I just need to remove those unsightly plug holders off the gas tank.

Just an update: I bought the Sena SMH10 Head set and they are amazing!! I listen to music on my phone and chat with my wife while riding. I really Love the system and if you use different helmets for different seasons, you can buy and extra mic and ear phones for each helmet and move the communicator from one helmet to the other. As for Revzilla, a great company to order from! I ordered them on Monday and had them by Friday.

Had sometime to work on the bike tonight. So I removed the CD player and bracket. That was pretty easy. I just ran the mounting bolt back in and zip tied the cord out of the way. The extra room is going to be nice on trips. Next step is to split the fairing and remove the remote controller along with the rider 5 pin connector. I look forward to removing the connector and clips off the tank. I have a tank bag I like to use while traveling and those are in the way of using it.

Last Night I took sometime to work on the bike. I took off the tour pack and removed the CB and the antennas. It looks so much better after taking the antennas off. Really cleans up the aft end of the bike. Tonight I may remove the CD player and the remote controller. I'm leaving the wiring that runs forward and aft on the bike. That way if I ever sell it, the individual who buys it may want to re-install everything. My wife thinks I'm crazy and is afraid it will hurt the resale, but really, I enjoy this bike so much that by the time I resale it it will have too many miles to get anything out of it anyway. I may sell the components and use the money to add additional lights to rear, maybe a strotoliner front wheel(If I can find a chrome one) and get a custom paint job. Its gonna be fun!!

I'll keep that in mind Rick. I'll PM you when I get them removed. I know for sure the CD player is coming out. I want that space back in the saddle bag. Just need to figure out how to block off the holes.

I haven't decided if I'm gonna do this or not. But, I was wondering how difficult it would be to remove the CB, six disc player, antennas, and the handle bar controller off my RSV? I bought a Sena Blue Tooth headset and really don't need that stuff on there. The six disc player takes up way to much space in my saddle bag and the handle bar controller is just ugly and needs to go. Does anyone make covers that replace the speakers on the bike? I would like to remove them also. I just want to clean up the bike, plus this stuff isn't being used.

The extra turn signals are off a Harley.. they replace the license holder.. Got them off eBay Cool! I've been wanting to add some lights to my RSV. Would you mind providing a link where I can find it or a build report?

Lol!.... I won't blame you Chief! I ordered them yesterday from Revzilla, they are fast! The shipping docs states they will be in this Friday. I've heard good things about Revzilla but never ordered anything from them. If you check the photo section of this website, I have a thread started with visiting Military/War Memorials. There is a picture of my RSV parked next to a howitzer. This is my 1st big bike, and so far I like it allot.

Thanks! It was actually the SMH10 I was looking at. I think per your recommendation(Can'y go wrong if a Radioman recommends :-) ) I'm gonna go with the Sena. Reviews are really good on them also.

Hey Chief, which model Sena do you have? I found the MHS10 on sale at revzilla. Looks like a nice set.

+1 on Leveling Links!! I also went with a 130 front tire. Those together makes the bike handle like a sport touring bike. Twisties are much more fun now.
