  1. I've used the heat with soldering iron plastic weld method and the ABS Glue method twice and both times seemed solid but after a while re-broke in the same place. Each time the crack gets longer and wider. Do you know the exact name of the product that you used because I'm finding that a lot of the "plastic" Glues and epoxys don't work on this type of plastic.
  2. My trunk broke again right behind the rear mounting bolts. I have patched this back together several times and apparently have not been successfull. Does any one have a 87 MK2 trunk laying around you don't need at least the lower half. I guess I just need to replace it. I thought I would ask before I start searching ebay again. I don't mind paying for the part and shipping. Color doesn't matter because i will have to repaint to match anyway.
  3. RandyR and I took the opportunity of a perfect weather ride day to tour the North Georgia Mountains.......AGAIN. It was a great ride and I was glad to do it with an old friend. Thanks Randy! The rest of you should have been there.
  4. What the hell.... why not I'll recommend you and have already done so. Glad to see you back, I may need a carb synch and valve adjustment. Your Buddy bob
  5. Helmets are mandatory in Georgia and knowing John I'm sure he would not leave home without it.
  6. Sounds right to me I've done a couple of rebuilds and if we got a couple of folks attacking the different aspects it could be done over a weekend if parts available. Pre planning would be a big help. Like what does the brake fluid and internal surfaces of brake system look like? Any corrosion? Are calipers, resevoirs and lines in good shape need a flush or a rebuild/replace. For the budget :mo money:we could all stay in the local motel and still get the project done? Or we could camp. Done that before.
  7. Thanks for the market update.
  8. Put the money toward a BBQ with beer meet & eat and I'm sure you'll get takers ready to come up and put that bike right for you.
  9. Hush your mouth, I love to smoke 2nd gens and Hardleys, They taste just like Chicken
  10. Damn Cagers with cell phones there ought to be a law against them.
  11. Don't give up yet there are many members close by that have the experience and expertise to help you with these repairs. I'm in Atlanta and will be glad to help you as we can get together. Your not that far away. Muffinman is a great resource if he's up for it. My advice is trust the experience on this site and do not trust the shops and dealerships. We know these bikes they don't.
  12. I talked to my friend and fellow member John Gibson (Raceman62race) today who informed me he is now a member of that club that nobody want's to join but some of us are inducted to. The Rider Down Club. Evidently on the way home yesterday he was waiting at a light when a mini-van coming up on his right side tried to make a left turn, careened off a couple of vehicles before hitting him on his right side ejecting him off his bike and wipeing out the right side of his 2nd gen Venture. He is alright, relatively speaking, and did not break anything after hitting the ground hard. He said he was pretty sore and was on the way to his doctor for pain meds for bruised hip and side. John is a good friend and a super guy if you've met him. He thinks his bike may be totalled and I'm asking for your prayers and well wishes for his speedy recovery and bike settlement with the insurance company so he can be back riding on two wheels soon.
  13. My thought was that it is a good thing your not a smoker. It has been my experience that smokers will have thier cigs when they want one no matter what the risk.
  14. If I was at the security check at the airport I would definently look for explosives if I saw these two especially the one on the right.
  15. I reconized Blackjack but who is the other character? Why won't the picture upsize? and what's the back story? Inquiring minds want to know.
  16. One of the big Hardley dealerships here Stone Mountain HD closed and merged with it's sister Dealership Granite Mountain HD in Conyers, Ga.
  17. Ride hook up cancelled due to lack of interest in riding in the rain and thunderstorms all day.
  18. Sounds like the boy friend needs to go out and buy a bike.

  21. Thanks once again your input has been invaluable. It took me 5 years since ownership to realize it had a fork lock position and now another 3 years to find out it in fact had 2 fork lock positions. Someday I will have finally learned everything about the intricate details of this 23 year old cutting edge technology of the 1st Gen Ventures.
  22. That is just wrong on so many levels
  23. I would like to use the front fork lock position on my ignition switch from time to time and have noticed that when I do the blinker lights come on and stay on. They dont blink they just come on. What's up with that?
  24. This thread would be funnier if it was a joke... so here's my input No I find my saliva is enough lubricant.
