  1. I recently just finished my redo of my 1987 Venture Royale and took my first road trip on it to St.Mary's Ga from Atlanta and back I was pleased with the overall look and performance but was somewhat dissappointed in the original Audio radio/CB. intercome hair lip audio sound. I am contemplating ripping the orginal out and replacing it with some current technology. Does anyone have some advice on components and installation?
  2. Bring it on, I can't wait to meet both of you.... and quickstep too!
  3. I decided over the past week to make it to Don's maintenance day this year and have made arrangements to get the time off work. The plan so far is to take the 87 VR if I get this years redo re-done by then. That would allow me to drag the camping trailer and camp out at Don's. If not i'll be taking the 2007 Midnight Venture loaner that we require getting a room since it does not have a trailer hitch. I plan on riding up on Thursday and back on Sunday and was wondering who might be coming through Atlanta on the way that might want to hook up to ride up together.
  4. Primer coat complete here's what she looks like so far
  5. I know I have asked this question before but, I've had to replace the fork seals...again and I forgot how much fork oil you put in each tube with progressive springs. I know George S knows if he sees this post because he has told me before.
  6. I see him a couple of times a week at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club Aerie. Everytime I see him the first drink is on me, I helped get him re-elected as Club President last week and paid for the insurance. He's glad someone is riding it and taking care of it since he only goes for a ride about once a year. I think he is probably thinking about that ride about now because of the weather that's why I'm trying to get my bike finished.
  7. It's been a slow project, but it's now ramping up for a conclusion. I started breaking down my 87 VR last Fall in preparation for the winter project of going through the bike again and fixing the mechanicals as needed, repainting and reassembling. My good friend Richard generously offered to let me ride his 2007 Midnight Venture while mine was down for the rehab. Since he has been in no hurry for me to return it I probably took more time than I should have in progressing this project. But, now its time to get the ball rolling so with 4 days off work I'm ramping up for the completion. Last fall after I had dissassembled the bike Randy R came down came down and spent a couple of days helping me (more like showing me ) how to do the valve shim adjustment procedure. My son Clint has been helping by sanding and prepping body parts for paint. Now, after getting all of the paint materials together:mo money:, today we are about to start the painting process. I have cleaned and repainted the the engine block while the bike is mostly dissembled and will be redoing the carbs and fixing some minor mechanical problems during the reassembly. I call this project revision five since this is the 5th paint job that the bike has had since factory original. I have learned a lot on each revision and am hoping this one will come out right and be the final one. The last one (as many of you may recall) was a royal blue metal flake with gold metal flake flames. While better than the previous revision I was not completely satisfied with the out come. It reminded me and some had commented that it looked like the paint job on a bass boat. :doh:So, on this revision I have selected an electric blue (Kia Rally Blue Metallic) base color with silver pinstripping, then Clear coat until it pops. (lossing the flames) I am however preserving the Dragon Slayer coat of arms logo on the front fender. I have attached some pics as the project is now befor primer coat of paint. By the way when this project is complete I bought enough paint to paint the van to match the bike.
  8. But did they make a movie of it for you?
  9. Lewis, Just go ahead and put my name on it. I'll be winning that one this year.
  10. I'm not saying..... I'm just saying
  11. I could post pictures of all the trees, shrubs and flowers blooming down here in Atlanta but, I have no desire to add to your pain.
  12. Another good reason to not get hitched.
  13. I'll be seeing Ya'll in all those old familar places
  14. Happy Birthday my friend hope I didn't miss it.
  15. I like to Gallavant, Scooterpoot and sometimes on the weekends I Peddle peaches and fix flats.
  16. Its been a long cold winter and I'm ready for a road trip and motorcycle adventure. Due time schedule, responsibilities and resources I'm not planning to do the whole week thing. But' I think I can pull off the following. Leaving Atlanta area after work on Wednesday 5:00 to 7:00PM-ish, Doing a night ride to Moonshiner's Campground at Ormand Beach, next door to Destination Daytona. Pitching a tent and then spending Thursday, Friday and Saturday doing the bike rally thing. Then leaving Daytona around Noon on Sunday heading back to Atlanta. That would put me back in Atlanta around 8:00 to 9:00 PM-ish. In time to rest and make work Monday morning. I tentalively have one buddy talking about riding with me. But, because he rides a Hardley, just in case, he is having his wife follow in the truck with a trailer. I guess back up is never a bad thing. With that scenario it allows the opportunity to throw the camping gear and luggage in the back of the truck for shipment to and from the event. Those of you that know me, know it's a done deal if I've thought it out this far. All are welcome to ride with me, hook up on the way, or in Daytona. Let your conscience and courage be your guide. If interested send a PM or e-mail before it's too late.
  17. Thom, I'm sorry and I realize that we had just met..... and that, that visual might have been a little too much too soon........I can only say in my defense...... Some people get my sense of humor and many many others do not. I'm not saying .... I'm just saying... But i had great time and so did Connie as she gratefully indicated later that night..... It was also great seeing John and Melinda Gibson (raceman62raceman) at the show.... some more great friends as a result of this forum.
  18. Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? Why is there brail on drive thru's?
  19. OK for any last minute readers or wild hair riders the plan is this. Anybody interested in getting together for the Great American MC Show (today Sat. 1/29/11 )can meet at the Old Hickory House restaurant on Northlake Parkway near I 285 for lunch at 12:00 noon. We will then ride to view the show after lunch.
  20. I had posted a thread on the same thing last night titled "Call out to N. Georgia and regional members" when I left for work this morning there were no favorable responses. I haven't checked it yet this evening. We could hook up if you want PM me a contact number and I'll do the same.
  21. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.... Terry, Blackjack has busted his arze to keep us together for the past three years... and somebody needs to step up to the plate and and pick up the ball and run with it.... so I'm guess I'll try,,,,,, Here in Atlanta the riding conditions have sucked for the past few weeks even though I have been riding on a daily basis to get to work and back. But, this weekend on Saturday it looks like we might have a fairly decent riding day and the Great American Motorcycle show will be in town. All I'm saying is that this might be a good day and opportunity to get together in a spirit of mutual friendship, comraderie and fellowship to get together for the purpose of a ride opportunity, Viewing the show, a meal together and talking about how we will keep the North Georgia monthly meet and eat together. I'm willing to provide an after show meeting place at the Atlanta chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 714 near Spaggetti Junction for food, adult libations and entertainment to discuss the future of the North Georgia Venture riders participation in monthly meet and eats. ALL WITHIN THE SOUND OF MY VOICE ARE WELCOME. What I'm suggesting is maybe picking a meeting spot for breakfast, going to the show and getting together afterwards for a group social activity to discuss how we might honor Blackjacks efforts by keeping the North Georgia Monthly meet and eats alive. Speaking for myself, I know that many of the memories and valued friendships that I have realized on this forum have been a direct result of the Terry's selfless commitment to trying to bring us together and I for one would hate to see that end. Please E-mail, PM, post or call me directly with interest in making this happen. Love you guys, Bob, The Atlanta Dragonslayer
