  1. WOOOO HOOOOO you mean to tell me Aussie Annie will be at Vogel and I'm gonna get to meet her too. This Vogel thing just keeps getting better and better:banana::banana::banana:
  2. I coming up on thursday I don't mind sharing my site with whoever is coming. But', I have to warn you I have had a history of being Bear bait at vogel.
  3. Sometimes your the bug sometimes you are the windsheild
  4. You can increase idle RPM by using thumb screw knob on center bottom of left side of carb bank, Adjust so bike should be idleing between 1000 and 1100 RPM. I suggest moving your questions to 1st Gen tech talk where you will get the best detailed anaylsis of other possible problems and solutions. There are a lot of other possible causes of bad performance and checks and solutions. Most easy some not so much so depending on your knowledge and skill level. Good news is your at the right place because the experts are on this forum and eager to help a fellow member.
  5. It looks like it is all there. I've had success with a 83 that looked alot worse.
  6. Before I had done the valve shim thing on mine reading the articles made it seem scary. But when I did do it with RandyR's help it was not as bad as it seemed. Synching the carbs without the Valve shims correct does no good because the valves shims need to be within tolerances before the sych is accurate. With the Valve shims and carb sync correct the performance on my bike increased about 30%. It looks like most if not all of the other possible contributing causes have been covered. RandyR is a good source of information and help on the Valve shim adjustment proceedure.
  7. STOP... In the name of love before you break your heart. 1. The bolt your trying to loosen to drain fluid is the bolt that holds the outer slider to the inner pistons. They only need to removed if you are taking the tubes apart to replace the fork seals. If your fork seals are not leaking I would leave them alone. you do not need to to disassemble the tubes to replace the springs. 2. The small phillips head screw on the back side of the slider is used to drain fluid. 3. Once fluid drained. You will need a 30 mm socket to remove handle bars. Just lay them aside with everything attached. Loosen cinch bolts on top end of tubes and remove fork tube caps with 17mm allen wrench socket. 4. Once you have opened the tube caps you will see the spacers sitting on top of the old springs remove the spacers and old springs. Note the overall length of old springs and spacers together. The progressive springs will be a different length than the old springs therefore you will need to make new spacers out of 1" PVC pipe so that the overall length of new springs and spacers equals the overall length of old springs and spacers. 5. Replace drain screws and fill each tube with equal amounts of Fork oil. I believe the amount is to 5 1/2 inches from top of tube with froks completely compressed but verify this with other articles posted on the forum on this subject. Extend sliders and Drop old springs and spacers in tubes. It doesnt matter which end of springs are up or down. 6. Replace tube caps. To do so you will have to compress the springs to get the tube cap threads started. Note that the threads on the tube caps are very fine and soft aluminum. Getting the threads started while compressing the springs and not cross threading the tube caps can be challenging. You must be very careful not to damage the threads on the caps and inside of tube while doing so or your screwed. I've found the best way of doing this is with use of a 1/2" drive hand crank speed bar with the 17mm allen wrench socket attached. By sitting on the bike and using this tool you can applie steady downward pressure with your left hand on the top of the speed bar while directing the cap to start threads straight by slowly turning cap in place with the right hand cranking action. 7. Once the caps are back in place tighten cinch bolts and put the handle bars back on an button up. The reason you keep turning the bottom bolt and it is not coming loose is because as you are turning the bolt the inner piston that it is threaded into is free turning inside the tube. You need to use an impact wrench to break the bolt loose from the inner piston. Hope this helps. Good Luck
  8. will it idle at 1000 to 1100 rpm?
  9. Oh yea, I remember you from the stay over at Sleeperhawk's a couple of years ago. Nate the inhaller and exhailer. I'm still trying to catch up on the lost sleep from that night. You'll learn to love the 1st Gen. Having been riding an 07 Midnight over the past seven months I was glad to finish my 1st Gen project and get back on her. Not that the 2nd gen wasn't a nice ride I just like the 1st Gen better.

  11. Brian, Sorry I won't be making the trip this year. This employment thing is sure biting into my motorcycle travel. I'll be doing good to make it to Vogel this year and it is just up the road from here. Miss you man. Maybe next year. I'm thinking this working for a living thing is highly over rated.
  12. I am too. I have riden multiple 1000 mile days but can't imagine being able to do 25 in a row. I will keep the information posted as this progresses.

  16. Could you do it? What if it meant raising 15 to 20 Million Dollars to build the Diabetes Research Center at the University of Iowa. That is exactly what Darrell Rall, Grand Aerie Trustee of the Fraternal order of Eagles is proposing to do. To that end the Grand Aerie has committed $600,000 and the Grand Auxillary has committed $400,000 to fund this project. His plan as it now stands is to tour all 48 Continental U.S. States and all of the Canadian provinces meeting up and riding with Eagle Riders and other supporting riding groups along the way. As the Georgia State Eagle Rider Ride Coordinator I have pledged my help assistance and support to this project. Check out www.foeeagleridersga.byethost24.com as further details are known I will post and update as this project progresses.
  17. The official Ga. Eagle Riders website is up and running. Check it out at www.foeeagleridersga.byethost24.com Even though the site is about the Eagle Riders which are an internal group of motorcycle riders who are members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles all are invited to participate in events, visit the different Aeries in Atlanta, Gainesville, Waycross, St. Mary's and Augusta. And join if you like what you see. This web site has links that will tell you about who the Eagles are, what we stand for and what we try to do. Hope you enjoy
  18. Lewis, I e-mailed the following message to all of the Ga Eagle Rider contacts which includes network links to hundreds of bikers in Georgia. The word is out now and they now know how to find you and the raffle tickets. Georgia Eagle Riders, I wanted to share information on this ride event being held at Vogel State Park August 17-20 2011 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61121 This is a ride that I participate in every other year and is very close to my heart. I will definitilly be at this one, Vogel V, Tail of the Dragon run for St. Jude's hospital. Every time I've gone it's been a great weekend with great people for a great cause. It is organized by my friend Lewis Cramer of Newnan, Ga aka Dragonrider through the http://www.Venturerider.org group that I have been a member of for years. Although this group is centered around the Yamaha Ventures and Star motorcycles all bikes are welcome. Many of our members ride every type bike imaginable. Please check out the thread and contact me or Lewis if you need any other information. Bob Graham Eagle Rider Aerie 714 Eagle Rider Georgia State Coordinator I hope it helps your efforts

  22. Thank you for this Randy, I was planning to to go to Gainesville the weekend after July 6th to offer my support of their new Eagles Rider Group. I would deeply welcome your support and encouragement if you could be with me for that. As you have been a friend and supporter of me in my endeavors In the past. I deeply would love for you to there with me in this.
  23. Obviously, there has been a mistake. I theorize that the mistake was that you didn't buy enough or the right winning ticket. Better luck next time Don.
  24. Some of you may recall me mentioning my involvement with the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the internal Eagle Riders groups. Last year we raffled off a new Harley and many of you supported that effort by purchasing raffle tickets for that fund raising event. (Sorry if you did not win) As a result of that raffle we raised over $4,900 for the Cancer fund in addition to raising the money to purchase the bike. The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international organization dating back to 1898 whose sole purpose is to raise money for charities we support. The organization has a rich history of accomplishments and disquished membership including Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Harry S. Truman and many many more notible public, sports figures and celebrities. http://www.foe.com The FOE has over a million members internationally with local chapters known as Aeries. Within many of the Aeries we have formed internal groups known as the Eagle Riders who are motorcycle enthusiast who organize to raise funds for charities and promote the message and causes of the FOE through motorcycle related rides and events. For more information check out this link http://www.foe.com/events/eagle-riders.aspx I mention this to announce that I have recently been appointed and installed as the Georgia State Ride Coordinator making me responsible for the organization, growth and leadership of the Eagle Rider Groups in the state of Georgia. And to invite all of you to check out the FOE and Eagle rider groups in your area. Georgia has five Aeries located in Atlanta, Gainesville, Augusta, Waycross (Okefenokee) and St. Mary's. Two of which have established Eagle Rider Groups in Atlanta and St. Mary's. Within days of being installed in this capacity I have begun the formation process to open up two new Eagle Rider groups in Waycross and Gainesville, Ga. Doubling the number of Eagle Rider groups in Georgia. My interaction with the VentureRiders and the F.O.E/Eagle Riders has resulted in hundreds of new friendships with great people because of the participation in these two groups of like minded motorcycle ethusiast. Because of my experience and sincere appreciation of both of these groups I wanted to share this information with you. I hope that you check out this organization, visit an Aerie in your area to participate and join if you find it a worthy organization as I have.
