Air Bhag question, obviously not bike related
Dragonslayer replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
A cd case about 1/2 pound, it also did it when my son 6'1" 150 lbs was sitting in the seat -
My new to me Chrsler Sebring Convertiable has developed it's first glitch. Now the Air bag dash board indicator light keeps coming on, then goes out, then comes back on with a ping warning sound everytime it comes back on. About every 30 to 60 seconds. Does anyone know why it may do this and can tell me how to make it quit doing that. The regular pingging sound is kinda a pain in the arse.

That seems to be my problem this thing has a touch screen on it and no matter what I touch it picks something completely different or takes off somewhere else.

Well we all went off and jumped off the deep end and took advantage of the black friday sale at metro pcs. So we all three go trapsing down there and buy us each one of those there so called smart alec phones. You could have fooled me it don't seem so smart to me . All weekend we have all three been holed up in different rooms trying to get aquainted with our new smart alec phones. None of us must be very smart alec phone savy cause we can't seem to be able to make any of them do right. Every once in a while one of us will let out a stream of them cursing words followed by threats to hurl them out the window. I'm about tempted to go down the street and find me a twelve year old to hire to show us how to work these dang things.

OPPPPPS, Am I guilty of not reading through the whole thread again..... My Bad. But, right I said you would be back. I Told you so. and don't mind saying it.

When I read your post what Gawildkat said so eloquently expressed exactly what I was thinking........ Thank you Kat for your heart felt voice. I just bought a Chrysler Sebring convertible.... You don't see me running of to some Chrysler or Sebring or Convertible forum somewhere....... I figure if I have a problem with the topless cage someone on this site will be able and willing to help me anyway... even though it's not a Yamaha or a Venture or a what ever W.G.A.F. Because that is the kind of people they/We are. What I have learned and gained on this site goes so much farther than brand loyalty....... It more about the value of true friends with good hearts who care and do for each other. Try and find that on the other bickering forums. $12.00 aside I have paid alot more and benefited far, far, less. Good luck with your Victory, It's a nice bike but, regardless I predict that you'll be back to Ventureriders.org I'm not saying I'm just saying

Now that you have cable back on and I have cleared my inbox, please resend your message about the radiator grill I need and you said you might have. By the way I think the good luck i recently had with my insurance claim may have been influenced by the Venture Gremlin Bell you sent me. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

I did not know that.

Dang, Having to settle with a insurance company again
Dragonslayer replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
I never considered teaching a course in insurance settlement because there are licensed and degreed professionals that do it as a career. Like any profession some better than others. I'm not a lawyer and am not quallified to offer legal opinion. However throughout my personal and professional life I have had to defend myself and my interest in court on more than my share of occassions. My success ratios have been about 90% in my favor in doing so. Like a lot of things in life, having to depend on others to protect, defend, and fight for my best interest has been far, far less successful. Anything that i might say is strickly based on my personal experience and should not be construed or relied on as quallified legal opinion. But, this has worked for me best in the past. Cardinal rules: Document everything with photos (before and after), receipts and documentation of all improvements, add-ons, customizations and modifications. Correctly done modifications, customizations and modifications should be worth dollar for dollar on settlement of what you paid for them. Collect examples of best case scenario sales comps on the same model as yours. On the older bikes there is a wide range between kelly blue book used vehicle value and Antique, collectable and unique one of kind values. Do your homework, show up prepared, state your case and stand your ground. It is the insurance companies job to settle for as little as possible. When it comes down to the cost of defending their position in court their cost goes up dramtically. If your position is strong and well documented they would rather settle before it goes that far. I also go into great detail showing how each part was damaged specifically by the scenario of how the accident happened from point of impact throughout bike.Have bike partially disassembled enough to show clearly all damage both visable on the surface and hidden. Keeping in mind that your explainations have to reasonable make sense. If the adjuster smells that your milking it he will probably start moving the other way. When pricing parts use original manufacturer's suggested retail price for new parts. You know how proud Yamaha is of their parts. Never use used part prices found on ebay even if the parts are no longer available. When evaluating your labor don't sell yourself short. Figure your labor rates at what a professional shop would charge you to do the same work. Currently around here it is 85.00 per man hour. In final negotiations, don't blink. The first one to blink loses. Make it clear that you are willing and determined to defend your position untill they offer a satisfactory settlement. If you prevail in court it is routine for you to be awarded attorney fees and all associated cost such as court cost in the judgement. -
Dang, Having to settle with a insurance company again

To give you an update on how this worked out. After waiting a week for the adjuster to return my calls and e-mails, I talked to the insured who is the attorney for the insurance company. She said she would call the adjusters supervisor immediately. Within hours the adjuster was leaving voice messages on my voice mail wanting to know where and when she could meet me to hand deliver a check at my earliest convenience, for my total repair estimate ($5,600) plus $500 for loss of vehicle use. By lunch time the next day i had cash in hand. Since I will be doing the repair work myself and I already have the materials on hand, I took some of the money and paid cash for a Chrysler Sebring Convertable. The rest of the money i put in my pocket and called it a day. When i acquired the bike over ten years ago I traded a boat for it that was worth about 2K. Since then I have fixed, repainted and put the bike back on the road five times because others have turned it over and damaged it. Five times their insurance companies have paid me off without me having to forfiet the bike and title as totalled. To date I estimate I have collected 25K plus in insurance settlements for damaged plastic body parts. Never once have i had to file a claim against my own insurance company. Thanks to the technical expertise and generousity of all of the fine folks on this forum i have earned what I believe is equivable to a Doctorate in Yamaha Venture Royale MKII Care, Maintenance and Repair PHD. And because of that fact my 87 VR will be on the road for sometime to come. Not to mention all the fine people and friends I have made since joining this forum. Did I mention the money I've saved and made. Twelve Dollars per year membership dues is probably one of the best investments i have ever made. PS: I will need a new radiator grill. does anyone have one for sale. -

Dragonslayer replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
I agree, it sounds too good to be true, as quick and agreeable as they seem to be so far. I'm guessing they want to settle quick to save the insured, their attorney some embarassment. But, I'm still crossing my fingers cause it aint settled till I have the -
Dang, Having to settle with a insurance company again
Dragonslayer replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
Well, The appraiser just left. He asked if I would settle at $5,666.42 (The total of my estimate) I said yes I would but, I will not forfeit the bike and/or title. He said he would send his report to insurance company today recommending that they do so. He thought I would hear back from Insurance company tomorrow, because they like to settle quick. I said good for them. In the mean time I'm back on my buddies 2007 Midnight Venture running fresh gas through it for him. And got a free day off work to handle this problem..... Think I'll go for a ride. -

Close but not the same. This bike is nice but it doesn't have Chrome trailer hitch back rest cup holder tank cover modification Custom paint job & Art Engraved windsheild Will cost to ship from IL All the tender loving care I have put into mine But it does have only 6353 miles on it Maybe as plan B but, I would have to still keep my bike. -
Last week while my freshly restored and painted 87 XVZ1300 Venture Royale was parked innocently in front of my house, minding it's own business. A neighbor lady came down the road going to fast for conditions, failing to maintain lanes, texting on her cell phone, doing her make up, fiddling with the radio or who knows what the H*ll she was doing came to wide around the corner crossing the road and nailed my bike. Did I say my poor bike was minding it own business. Turns out she happens to be the Attorney for the insurance company she is insured with (Cincinnati Insurance). I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing. She did stop and leave her information with my roommate then went home. But, that did not seem to matter to the responding police officer that came to write the police report. Because he made every indication that he was going to cruise down to her house a block away and arrest her for leaving the scene of the accident (Especially when he found out she was an attorney) but evidently settled for citing her for failure to maintain lane. She did have an adjuster get in touch with me the next day. The adjuster came by and looked at the bike. She was nice and seemed to commiserate with me while I explained, in great detail, (with tears in my eyes). That I had just finished spending the past year and hundreds, (If not Thousands ) of man hours painstaking restoring my poor baby with my own blood, sweat and tears This fine example of Classic Motorcycle technology and history. After hearing the story she insinuated, in fact even said (with tears in her eyes) just tell me what the damage is and we'll cut you a check QUICK. She even said QUICK several times, with emphasis. I'm thinking:mo money: So, I spent the next day putting an estimate together which included the following: Cost of damaged parts at Yamaha's MSRP...............around $3,600 Painting materials to match custom freshly done paint job.......480.00 Labor at prevailing shop rates......................................85.00/hr. Total estimate around .................$5,400 Next thing I heard from the adjuster, via voice mail message, (in an emotionally detached voice), "An appraiser will be getting in touch with you". So, the appraiser will be coming out in the morning. I'm just betting he will say Used 1987 motorcycle totaled at some ridiculously low number. I'm thinking I would sell my first born male child into slavery for a fraction of what this bike is worth to me in blood, sweat and tears for all of the hours I've put into this labor of love. Based on the foregoing, what would you think would be a reasonable position to take to settle this claim and put this whole unfortunate incident behind me and move on. Considering, I'm not willing to forfeit the bike and title as totaled since the damage is all cosmetic and I would do all the work myself.
