Yesterday, The North Georgia annual "March on Rome" M&E happened on a beautiful early Spring day perfect for riding. The turnout was lighter than in past years but we still had a wonderful time and ride with five bikes touring the Northwestern Georgia mountain country.
:7_6_3[1]:My ride started with a sunrise ride from Atlanta to Dahlonega to hook up with RandyR. :7_6_3[1]:From there we cut across country to Dawsonville for breakfast where I had the local breakfast meal legend known as the "Big Nasty". If you ever get the chance and find yourself in Dawsonville for breakfast the "Big Nasty" is a must do. It begins with an eight inch Cat's head biscuit, a chicken fried steak, covered with three over easy eggs, Bacon then drowned with cheese and milk gravy. Trying with all my might, I could not eat the whole thing.
Then Westward on Hwy 53 through Tate to Calhoun where we met up with 1JoeRanger and his wife.:7_6_3[1]: From there we continued to Rome, Fuddrucker's where Meach and his bride were waiting.:7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]: Fuddruckers food was just as I remembered, too much to eat. Especially after the "BigNasty". We had a late arrival (whose ID I didn't catch) with his wife. +
After lunch 1JoeRanger took the lead and guided is up the old Dalton road from Rome to Dalton. :7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]:To my surprise there was a road in Georgia that I had not been down before. Before Yesterday. And it was a great ride through Wildlife Management Area, National Forest, State park and farmland country. In Dalton the customary pictures were taken and we said our Goodbyes then Ventured off in different directions.
RandyR and I :7_6_3[1]:attended the Eastman Gun show is Dalton before heading off across country on Hwy 52 through Chatsworth, Fort Mountain, Ellijay DQ:essen_018: (Big Tom Eat your Heart out:rasberry:), back to Dahlonega.
While on Fort Mountain we passed the other half of our group going the other way:Venture::7_6_3[1]:
Entering Dahlonega we honked and waived as I split off:7_6_3[1]:heading back to Atlanta. Arriving home safely after an approximate 400 mile ride for me.
I had a blast.
Pics will have to be posted by others since I had forgotten my camera:doh:
