Chris and I got home yesterday at about 5:30 after taking a leisurely ride through Northwest Georgia rural country from Chattanooga to Atlanta via Lookout mountain, Chickamauga Battlefield, LaFayette, Rome then home. The worst part of the trip was the last mile to the house in Buckhead rush hour traffic. (45 minutes)
Things I learned from this trip:
Tie down and double check of tie down of clothes bag on top of trailer is critical.
Put clothes bag in trailer and tie down something else on top that can afford to be lost.
Mounteagle Tennessee seems to have a lot of rain both coming and going.
I75, from Atlanta, to Chattanooga then I24 to Nashville is solid tractor trailer trucks all the time.
Need to get a Strebel horn installed on the 2nd gen.
Don't trust Tom Tom in North Central,Tennessee, It wants you to see every single county road before taking you to your destination.
There is a Elk, Duck and Buffalo river in TN.
Patti and Don Ellis are gracious host and have a lovely home, property and family. they are also excellent cooks.
Douglas MacArthur's Grand father, Arthur MacArthur was the union solder (at 18 yrs old) who picked up the battalion standard and charged to the top of Missionary Ridge and was credited for the reason the Union army won that battle and changed the tide of the war in the Unions favor.
Everything there is to know about the Battles around Chattanooga during the civil war. Before Sherman and his Army of the Northern Aggressors stomped through Georgia.
The visitor center at the Chickamauga Battlefield is temporarily closed for renovations.
The ride south from Chickamauga Battlefield to Rome is relatively boring.
Avoid Buckhead or for that matter all of Atlanta while on the scooter during evening rush hour at all cost.
