  1. If you had a second gen you wouldn't need to trailer it and you wouldn't be stopping in Texas replacing the stator. Not saying.....Just saying.
  2. Puc, Glad to see your up and running. I've had the same issue on my 1st gen you are exactly right. 9 times out of 10 a electrical problem will turn out to be caused by a bad connection at a quick connect plug.
  3. I disagree, Yesterday I bought a name brand sport shirt at Marshalls with a $60.00 price tag for $12.99. An hour earlier I had seen the same shirt at the upscale mall down the street for $90.00. That tells me retail will charge whatever the public will pay for it. But, there is no reason why you can't find the same quality for pennies on the dollar.
  4. Cool, I think there would be a nitch in the market place for something like this. I would check it out.
  5. or the Meandering motorcycle mis-fits as we are known to other ventureriders.
  6. NOOOOOO, don't do it. Even the smallest flag will bend your antenna back double at speed. I know I've been there
  7. Hey Puc, That's how them Texican folks are. Last Time I was through there, I was met at the boarder of New Mexico by a Venture rider that had offered the day before to bring me a rear tire to Tucumcary, NM. After being met at the state line and escorted into Amarillo by way of the Cadillac ranch we hooked up with TX2Sturgis who treated me like traveling royalty while I was there. It took several days in Amarillo before I got headed back toward Georgia. If you run into Brian aka tx2sturgis beware if he ask you to ford a creek on Tweeks. What Texicans call creeks are rivers to the crackers here in Georgia. Ain't that right Brian? Oh yea, :lightbulb:and if you had a trailer you would have more room to carry a spare stator, rr and battery.......Not saying just saying.
  8. Your right, I had forgotten about that.
  9. Once you got the stator in hand it's an easy fix.
  10. :wel_4Wa:To this motley crew of meandering motorcycle mis-fits. Your stay will be interesting as well as the people you meet along the way. D.G.M. (Diabolical Genius Mastermind) aka Dragonslayer
  11. Seemed to work OK :clap2:but, I seemed to detect some flagellation noise on the sound track..... Was that you? I had a similar problem with videos I made on my 2008 Sturgis trip. What I did was use Windows Movie maker which allows you to dub out the ambient wind and motor noise before dubbing in the music sound track. This made the audio track much cleaner. I also like the rear facing camera angle. I did a combination of that and rear facing from the front showing my face and passing landscape which made a interesting video segment I called "Musical Yellowstone" where I was singing to the radio while touring Yellowstone.
  12. Hey Brian, I keep saying the same thing but, I don't think he wants to hear it.
  13. Hey, I've been to Muskogee.... did you know that their city council meets in the McDonalds at 6:00 on Sunday mornings and they all wear white cowboy hats.
  14. 3. Self preservation
  15. Travel safe, hope to see you and Tippy on the road somewhere this summer..... maybe at the International.
  16. Hey Patrica, what do you need? I found a front cylinder header and two baffle removed pipes while I was cleaning up my work space last weekend. You are welcome to them if you can use them.
  17. I bet 86er's vote is Jack in The box, Fried tacos. On more than one occasion, (Including coming home from B2mom & Pop's) I've followed him 100 miles out of the way to get a fried taco. and I don't even like taco's. Fried or otherwise

  19. There will probably be a few bugs to work out... but, there always is with anything new.
  20. I just did that on to way back to the office from lunch, A cute little blond rolls up next to me in a BMW sports car at a traffic light. She immediately picked up her phone and started texting. I beeped politely and when she looked over I gave her the no no finger. She smiled and put her phone down. That technique works and I feel so empowered.

  24. You still got a bunch of good parts left on that thing. I bought a parts bike in much worst shape and made about 5 grand off it parting it out on ebay.
  25. The Black Canyon on the Gunnison, State park is well worth the ride and visit. Also if you get to Lake City that is a neat little tourist town to stop in. In the summer time, the town is full of young beautiful Russian girls they import for their tourist industry. They have one bar owned by a young kid. I stopped there on the way back from Sturgis in August of 2008, and ended up spending three days there. Tell everybody the Dragonslayer said Hello.
