  1. Well a winter storm emergency is when there is a winter weather related power outage and all of the electronic door access systems go down and there are refrigerated vaccines at risk and you are the only one on the emergency call list that is dumb enough to answer your phone. While everyone else is at home with their cozy toesies in front of the fireplace. A snow day is when the weather lady mentions the slight possibility of snow flurries and all of the schools, government offices and businesses close for a free day off work. The possibility of black ice evidently is a big factor but I never saw any.
  2. I may want to rethink my earlier position. I did get two free snow days off last week. However, I didn't really see any snow since I live south of the snow line evidently. But, I did get to deal with 48 hours worth of work related "winter storm " emergencies. But, that accumulated comp time and mileage reimbursement will come in handy when I get to play with my new convertible as soon as it warms up a bit.
  3. Your business plan must be working because we are starting to get some of that white crap down here. Take it back we don't want it and we ain't gonna pay for it no matter how many trunk loads you get of it for $5.00.:snow::cold:
  4. Shoveling snow is not my idea of a vacation................. I like it down here where the snow melts before it hits the ground
  5. The price of admission
  6. You know what I want.... Something sleek and sexy with classic grace and style Something that needs a little TLC but, not a basket case not rode hard and put up wet she shouldn't be a money pit I don't want to have to mortgage the ranch to bring her home She should be easy to get on and ride I like fast but I need to be able to hold on to her when she gets going a little age is ok but not to many wrinkles maybe a little risky but, not cray cray unpredictable she needs to be stable when her rubber meets the road Purs like a kitten, pounces like a Tiger But, strong enough to put a hitch on her and pull my Ox out of a ditch if needed A work horse that shows like a thoroughbred After you find her........ start looking for a bike with the same parameters
  7. Where my ride used to be... Yea Venture Sole, assisted by Riderduke, Sleeperhawk and his alleged mechanic came down and rode her into the sunset. Now Cowpuc, I need you to start looking for a barn find for me like your so good at.

  9. His back up SWAT team arrived with automatic weapons drawn
  10. Did you go through a time warp and end up in May?
  11. I think I've seen this guy in Daytona before..... or, was it Sturgis.... I can't remember.
  12. The MM is still in the garage for now but, one of our members has put a deposit down on her and will be here in a couple of weeks to pick her up. That doesn't mean that ya'll are through me yet. I will be hanging around and plan on looking for a new ride this spring. In fact, truth be known, I was hoping I could pick your brain to learn some of your secrets on how you locate those rare barn finds you seem to be so good at. I was thinking about finding a fixer upper that would be something a little lighter but still had enough heft to hit the open road in case that wander lust bug hits me again. Maybe a vintage something.
  13. Funny you say that. The little gravel road that leads to my house and my other two neighbors property is a private road called Little Paradise and I am currently calling the place Hacienda Ranchero Utopia on Little Paradise Road.
  14. I haven't been on here much lately and quite frankly life has been hectic over the last two months. I have been dealing with uprooting and moving to a new home out in the country, the holidays and all that that entails, family issues, the condition and disposition of my elderly Mother, major renovation projects at work, the sudden and unexpected death of my sister right after Christmas. But as all of those things begin to settle out, as things in life always do. This morning I've had the time and peace to consider my blessings and simple pleasures I am now enjoying in my new home as I drink my morning coffee. The crackling fire in the fireplace. I have never lived in a house with a real wood burning fireplace before and I really am enjoying it. Living on acreage where I can watch deer feeding in the back yard as I sit and write this.:cool10: Having my own bathroom where I can do my business and sometimes read without others beating on the door wanting access. A two car garage where I can finally have a decent place to have a shop to work on the stuff. Having a place to have a bonfire at night and actually be able to see the stars. Having two barns to store the equipment and tools protected from the elements. Living on acreage where I don't see my neighbors and they can't see me. Watching the pets bask in the sun where they are not freaked out by passing traffic and emergency vehicles with sirens. A walk in closet of my own. A roomier, newer and more efficient house, mostly off the grid where every room is comfortable and every window has a beautiful view of a natural setting. Hearing roosters crowing in the mornings. I know that many of you probably already have these amenities where you live and probably take them for granted. But, they are new to me and I just felt like sharing my enjoyment of them.
  15. After reading your post two thoughts crossed my mind. 1. I don't care what you ride as long as you ride. I always felt that this site was more about the people involved then the machines. 2. After my sister's recent demise, moving, family issues, financial issues, the job and contemplating my own mortality , I just feel that some things in life aren't worth the time and energy fretting over. This subject is one of them.
  16. I saw him again just the other day.
  17. No maybe he was going to work with the crew.
  18. I saw him too. Out on a family outing.
  19. Squid, I remember the first time I met you at one of the Skid Ins in West Virginia, you told me I was a idiot for considering towing a 1st gen on a trailer with a 1st gen. I thought you were probably right and due to your advice I made other plans, probably saved my life. However, Muffinman proved it could be done at one of the Vogel's. I saw him do it. So, in spite of the idiot comment I appreciate the advice. You and Lonna are in my thoughts and prayers that things will turn around for you soon.
  20. I think I got this new un figured out for the most part. The one thing I can't figure out is how come Yamaha keeps putting them cassette players in.
  21. That's what I get a lot or, Nice Harley...... One guy said "I heard 120,000 of those Harleys were just recalled"... I said" then I'm glad this ain't a Harley"
  22. In my early training the difference is described as the Responsible Person vs. the Victim Mentality person. It is remarkable how many people can not get their lives on the right track because they justify their actions by blaming someone else for their faults. A responsible person accepts and acknowledges their faults and attempts to take responsibility for them by correcting them.
  23. I hunted my soon to be new home last Saturday. Didn't actually see any deer but I did find a large 4 point (left side) antler shed about twenty feet in front of the stand that is closest to the house.
