$21.00 for the buckle $15.00 for the belt blank. $36.00 for a personlized belt with the VenturRider logo and my user ID name instead of $40.00 for an off the rack belt. I'm ok with dat.

I went to Tandy today to get a belt blank to make a new belt for my new VentureRider.org belt buckle. I was asking about what kind of neutral stain I could use on the raw leather belt blank and buckle that would not harm the logo image on the belt buckle. The leathersmith store owner was hesitant to recommend anything not knowing how the image is made on the belt buckle and suggested the safest methode to use would be direct sunlight.......................I said, "What" He repeated, "direct sunlight". He then showed me several examples of raw leather exposed to direct sunlight over varying lengths of time and the darkening effect that sun light has on raw leather. Kinda like sun tanning the leather hyde. The direct light darkens and ages the leather somewhat and the aged color looks more like the tan leather riding, cowbow boots I just purchased a few weeks ago. I'm gonna give it a try.

Front wheel wobble
Dragonslayer replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My wobble seems to happen whenever I take one hand off the handlebar to light a cigarrete and stops when I put my free hand back on the handlebar. I've had this before and corrected it with a new front tire. But right now tire wear and pressure look good I will get the air pressure gauge out and check and correct if necessary to see if that will help. I asked about uneven fork tube oil because I have been loosing fork oil on my left tube due to leaking seal and wondered if I had lost enough to set up a front wheel wobble issue. -

Ivan, It's gonna be very hard to find a rebuild kit for these carbs. I'm telling you it is cheaper to buy a complete set of carbs off a running bike e-bay for $100 bucks or so then trying to find the parts to rebuild a set. A complete set of diaphrams new (4 Large, 4 small) cost $480.00. What parts you can find from yamaha that are still available you will have to get a second mortgage on your house to afford. The last shop that touched my bike charged me $1,400.00 ($800.00 parts the rest labor)to rebuild and sync my carbs and screwed them up worse then they were. And didn't even replace the diaphrams. Trust me I had to learn the hard way before I found my way to this forum. I was about to part my bike out and sell on e-bay when I found this sight that breathed new life breath into my bike. These great people have helped me by leading me straight and teaching me how to work on her myself. Now no one but me with the help I get from this site will ever work on my bike again. -

No just the saddlebags and trunk are spoken for the other ones are available. just let me know when your ready for them. -
Yes but doing this test does not fail a bad stator because the way the stator fails the resistance shows good when the stator can be bad. I just went through the same thing that a1bummer went through to discover that the stator was bad and replacing it corrected the problem. The better way to check stator is to check ac voltage output from stator while running. and see if all three phases of stator are within 1 AC volt of each other.

Sounds like you know what your doing with 12 volt electrical systems. That will give you a good head start. http://labs.trunkful.com/8385servicemanual.pdf As far as diagnosis download the shop manual from here you should be able to find any of the wiring diagrams you may need from the manual. I've got the clutch and brake masters water pump cover Body parts, Left front fairing, front fender, Tank cover, left and right side covers trunk and saddle bags are promised already, if he doesn't take them your next on the list. If you'll pay shipping you can pay me for parts when you can we can negotiate price I'm flexable. -
From what I have absorbed so far front wheel wobble can be caused by and corrected by addressing the following or a combination of the following: Front wheel out of balance front fender brace upgrade tightened cinch bolts on front forks Furbur washer fix solid motor mount upgrade Have I left anything out. Question: Can it also be caused by unequal amounts of fork oil in each of the forks?

The 84's have an hydralic EAND anti dive valve actuated by brake fluid from the front brake calipers. The 86 has electric solenoids EAND Anti dive valve. I'm not sure if the 84 EAND valves will mate up with the 86 forks. If not, to change out you would need shorter banjoe bolts for the front calipers to allow you to eliminate the brake hoses that go to the hydralic valves on the 84 forks. Then you would need to wire the electric solenoids into the front brake light circuit to be actuated when front brakes are applied.

To answer one of your earlier questions about part availability E-bay, search Yamaha Venture and or Yamaha Venture Royale . It sounds like your dash gauge cluster has multiple issues. The entire gauge assemble come up often and usually sells pretty cheap. There is a difference between the 83-85 std & Vr and the 86-93 Vr gauge assemblies so make sure you get one that matches your bike. sounds like you have the one with clock which is more common. I'm parting out a 84vstardard and am offering parts to forum members first before I put parts on ebay so let me know what you need and I'll let you know if I still have it. Squidleys comment about these bikes being electrically finaky is an understatement. Get in the habit early to disconnect every quick connect electrical plug you come across and clean contacts with one these products crg 2-26, crc electrical contact cleaner, then fill female side of plug with diaelectric grease before reconnecting. Trust me. when connecting wires always solder the connecton, no wire nuts scotch locks and avoid crimp connectors as much as possible. Add Sea-foam cleaner to gas ands oil as soon as possible and ad to gas for a few tank fulls. The aerosol version shown below is convenient for a fast application for the carb slides. You found the right place for a wealth of knowledge and experience on these bikes and all of the people on here are super and more than willing to help. Good luck -
Mine showed up in the mail today. Hey that was fast, It looks great and happens to match my new riding boots. I'm well pleased with mine. Way to go Thom Great job, Thanks. I'm gonna go to tandy and get the stuff to make a belt to go with it.

Anti Wobble Furbur fix?
Dragonslayer replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I like the way you think I thought the same thing. But the last time I made a point on this forum about what I thought was excessive Ebay shipping cost for the item I was throughly chastised, threatened by a postal postal worker, and flat out told I was a perverbial idiot from hell. So I'm glad you made the point instead of me.You have restored my faith that this country is great because of those brave enough to stand up for what is right in the face of adverse public opinion. I salute you.I do realize your offer is selfless in nature. I'd like one of those free washers, and will be glad to donate a fair value to the forum which I figure to be: Cost of the washer .34 cost of shipping 1st class stamp .40 Cost of a envelope and addressing ink .06 cost of protective packaging material scotch tape .002 100% markup because it's for a worthy cause .802 Your donated time and effort priceless Total US$ 1.604 Ah heck let's just round it up to lets say $ 2.00 US Thats roughly a .37 profit per unit .37 X 6000 members = $2,220.00 This might be a decent sideline business Just see where Yamaha got by charging like $8.00 for an O-ring
