  1. It does to me, I have a complete frame I can't title and two spare engines. I was kinda looking for a frame that could be titled so I could start a Venture cruiser custom. Pm me or call me so we can talk about it.
  2. I had a heck of a time with carb vacume pressure, mostly the lips around the air box rubber throats to carb throats. I could not get them to seal properly. I finally changed out the air box and finally got them to seal. I also had problems with the clamps on the airbox side and the intake boot side and went through several sets before I found some good ones before I could get enough vacumn pressure to sync carbs. Tight seals are critical and the proper air flow thru carbs.
  3. I just really need the guts or the wire cable part that goes thru the outer housing.
  4. I'll have to look to see if I have one. I'll get back with you.
  5. Mine went south and I do not have a spare. I would be willing to buy or trade for what you may need.

  7. Looks like a great deal, Too bad you live on the otherside of the world where I can't come and borrow it when I need one.
  8. Merry Christmas to you too Lowell, I just want to take this opportunity to tell you what a pleasure it was to have had fellowship and rides with you the few times we did so over the past year. I was sorry to have missed you in Texas on my extended Sturgis trip. But I was thankful to have had the phone conversation with you while I was stranded in Tucumcari, NM with a bad rear tire, your rear tire change out tip came in real handy. I'm looking forward to riding with you as often as we can during 2009. Also you have a formal invitation to stay in my home anytime you find yourself in the Atlanta. Ga area. Untill then, God bless you and yours and be safe where ever you go. Bob:rudolf:
  9. I got one I just changed out a couple of months ago.
  10. Yea meatloaf, that's how it's done. With GeorgeS' help I've rebuilt two of these beast from won't do squat to daily riders. Don't trust the mechanics at the stealerships. You can by a new bike for what they are gonna charge you to work on these 1st Gens, if they will talk to you at all. I know that's how I found this site. Last time I let anyone but me work on my bike it was $1,400 for a carbtune and sync and they really screwed them up, after four months in the shop. They just don't know what they are doing with these electrically complicated bikes. This whole forum is chock full of very talented technicians that really understand these bikes and just about everyone of them is willing to help out a fellow member every chance they get. I live in Atlanta, but I'm in NC all the time, If you fire the up grill they will come and I will too.
  11. Sorry Shadow I think I let that piece go with the tank. Sorry I coundn't help.
  12. I've seen them on bikes but have never found a place to buy them or found them on ebay. I bet if you could produce them there would be a pretty good market for them. I'd buy a set.
  13. By all means change the oil and put fresh oil filter on if its old and been sitting. I would even add a little seafoam in oil and gas. There is an inspection plug on the stator cover for timing light inspection, but I'm not sure of any adjustment since timing is function of pick up coil firing . You might want to see manual or ask better informed members. I'm wondering since you said oil like molasses if top of engine not lubricated and valves sticking or not opening and closing properly, On the occasions when I started very cold engines that had been sitting for months or years I made sure I had fresh oil, gas and plugs, turned engine over with hot battery for as long as it took to get all fluids circlating through engine and used starting fluid untill engine fired up. Once engine fired up and ran then you can adjust carbs. These bikes are very electrically operated and the ignitor box controls most evey thing. I would not be surprised, though I don't exactly know how having the gauge cluster not installed might effect something that would not let the engine to crank. Also on carb rebuild how sure are you of carb adjustments, Main idle jets should be 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 turns out sync screws can be close but not exact for engine to crank and idle can be adjusted after engine crank shooting for 950 to 1000 rpm idle. Even if engine cranks it will run like crap until air box remounted with filter. Air flow through carbs are critical. Also air tight connection between air box, carbs, intake boots and heads is critical. Are you getting any action on the diaphram plungers?
  14. I'm in I could bring a bike trailer load of 1st gen parts and maybe a spinach dip or something.
  15. No fooling. Years ago I was hunting on some leased property near Dublin, Ga. One day when I was walking back to camp I stepped over a log that was sheltering an Eastern Diamond Back Rattler. It struck up at me and managed to get its fangs caught in the rip stop thread of the army camo pants I was wearing right at about knee level. The pants were baggy enough that the fangs didn't really find skin and kinda just scratched my skin and did not really inject a lot of venom. I was wearing a Jim Bowie type knife on my hip and used it the seperate the snakes head from it's body while the fangs were still hung up in the pants fabric. Thank goodness the incident occurred just feet from the truck and my buddies quickly got me in the truck rushing off to the nearest hospital for some anti venom shots. One of my buddies even had enough forethought to throw the snake's body in the cooler to take it along for identification. After the ride to the hospital and back we got back just about dinner time. We figured what the heck, so we took the snakes body skinned it out and threw it on the BBQ grill doused with a little lemon juice and butter. We stired up a little wild rice and had a fantastic dinner that tasted a little lick chicken and rice. I took the skin and the five section rattle and made a hatband for my black felt floppy hat that I wear to this day. And when anyone ask me about the hat I tell them this story about eating the rattle snake that bit me.
  16. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I thought that was interesting. At first I was expecting something about regenerating plastic 1st gen body parts.
  17. We got a gully washer down here a couple of weeks ago that raised our water resevoir for the area Lake Lanier something like 3/4 of an inch. I guess that was good since the lake is now at it's historical low pool level of somewhere around 17 feet. Some say it could be completely dry next year.
  18. It must be my failing eyesight but I couldn't even see the damage. It's a nice looking bike and deffinately a keeper. I think everyone else is correct about holding out for a better settlement from insurance company. My bike has been totaled and paid for by insurance companies four times. Last time Insurance gave me $3,800 to repair and I kept bike and no salvage title with less damage than you describe. Drunk knocked it over in a parkin lot while it was on the kickstand. He tried to pick it up by himself and dropped it on the other side. The bike had scratched and cracked fairing on both sides, broken kick stand and the little plastic L shaped water pipe to the water pump was damaged. I cashed the check fixed the bike myself with about $38.00 in parts and kept riding. When I repainted painting material cost about $500.00 If you decide to keep bike and fix your self I have the two inside fairing pices that the radio bolts onto. I also have the left fairing and the tank cover. But both of them will need to be repainted and are not the original factory paint color. I'll make you a Christmas deal on them if you buy before Christmas since I am looking for a little extra Christmas cash. I probably will have more if you find other things that you need when you disassemble.
  19. Do you have an US contact source for Mikuni where you can order carb parts for 1st Gens.?
  20. or unplug the quick connect plugs behind the head light.

  22. We should hunt them down and kill them so that we can prove that they existed. Like we will eventually do with a UFO or a Big Foot. Evidently, photos by themselves are not enough evidence to convince the scientifc community. It takes a carcuss. Where's the harpoons?
  23. Here. Here, I just got finished doing a month and a half trouble shoot on the exact same thing. The problem ended up being low charging voltage due to bad degenerating stator. Once the stator was replaced problem solved and brake light voltage drop quit happening.
