  1. Is the rear wheel off the bike how are the spines on the ring gear how much do you want for the pumpkin with it separated at the 4 forward facing bolts.
  2. Yea I wanted to avoid the whole reshim thing and the 83 to 85 final drive is mine on e-bay I still need a rear final gear that will work on my 87. WE've discussed this before but, i haven't been able to find a suitable final gear.
  3. A few weeks back I changed rear tires and noticed wear on the spines on ring gear. I thought about swaping ring gear and plate with a MK1 84 which I have on hand off a parts bike but noticed that bolt pattern is different. But my question is: Does any one know why I can't swap the whole pumpkin on my MK2 87 XVZ1300 with a 84 MK1 XVZ1200 pumpkin by unbolting from the drive shaft end from swing arm. Will they interchange without a problem.
  4. Most of the plastic parts are long gone but I still have a few pieces left that I will be glad to make you a package deal on. All of the parts have been painted flat black over red on red original color so all will need to be painted. I have both side covers, tank cover, front fender and the lower fairings which will need to be repaired. let me know if you can use these pieces. Also I have the saddlebags.
  5. Good luck they are rare I had to make mine. When theyb come up on e-bay they are not cheap.
  6. If you go to the Doctor and get a prescription for antibiotics it will last about seven days, If not it will last about ten days. In the mean time lots of hard Lickr will keep you asleep long enough to not feel it.
  7. Does that mean we are getting Bigger and more important.
  8. Last weekend ten of us road to Millegeville, Ga for an event. There were two Harley's in the group a new one and an older one. On the way back we spent most of the trip stopping picking up lost harley parts and reinstalling them, pushing them out of the road, pushing down hills to jump them off, pulling them with extention cords to jump them off. No kidding we had to stop about twenty five times over a 100 mile trip. It would have been a great comedy routine if it wasn't so much of a pain in the a**. Later that night I ran into a buddy who happens to be a Flat bed wrecker driver and a Harley owner. When I saw him he had his Harley on his wrecker. Won't crank. So I'm gonna help figure out what the problem is. Sorry, All you Harley Owners, But there is not force on earth that could make me own a Harleyand give up my 1st Gen.
  9. All of the above, Motorcycles riders develope a special type of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome that causes this. I've heard of remedies from Auccupuncture, to surgery, special gloves and everything in between. There may even be some threads on the subject on here. I've had it and I basically got used to it until it eventually went away after about a year or two. Some say Ace wrist support bandages help. I've seen special made riding gloves at motorcycle shows that are designed to combat this irratating condition.
  10. Translated into latin that is: Nuis Homo Est Insula, except Frogman
  11. I have a left thats painted blue metal flake and a RH mirror with some damage. I made my trailer hitch.
  12. Hey I got both of those and probably any thing else you need for an 84. Shoot me a list of what you need. If you visit Yamaha very often you'll get used that "he's try to screw me" feeling.
  13. I did last summer, the whole across country and back thing on a 87 100k mile first gen, 6500 miles and 20 states. I did the whole thing by myself and had a blast. Never a dull moment. I would caution you if you planned on doing it on any other bike but a first gen (or maybe a Goldwing). But I had the advantages of a Back rest, Hwy pegs or Boards, Tunes in the headset, On-board Tequila dispenser, right side kick stand and a trailer carrying enough gear to stay on the road Indeffinately, made the trip more enjoyable. When you get back look a fella up and tell me about the trip. I'm just down the road from you in Clarkston.

  17. yea Dano, I can hook you up. How bout 20 bucks plus shipping?
  18. Deffinately a great looking Chicks bike.
  19. I bought the same deal. about 8 or 9 days later the item showed up in the mail. I was impressed with the product seemed to be made out of decent material and was light weight and compact when folded up. The workmanship was good with no apparent flaws. All in all I thought it was a supper deal. I ended up giving it to my GoldWing riding buddy for a birthday present so I don't have any durability answers for you. For the price I don't think you will get hurt. If your deal turns out like mine you'll be pleasantly surprised.
  20. It would be the first place I would look.
  21. i got an extra one.
  22. Since I replaced the stator on mine my voltage reads at 14 volts while riding.
  23. mine does it. It seems to be more dramatic if the battery charge is low. If the battery is fully charged it doesn't seem to bounce as much. There is a different test for the stator. There is a three wire (white wires) plug that comes from the stator which is located on the left side just above and ahead of the passenger foot rest. check the voltage ahead of and behind this plug for AC voltage. Failure or a bad contact at this plug is a common problem. A indicator of problems is yellowing or darking of the wires or plug due to heating up from a bad connection. These three wires are the three field wires from the stator to the voltage regulator. The three fields should be within a ac volt or two somewhere between 11 and 14 voltages. If there is a big difference more than a volt between one or more of the fields. Your stator is going bad.
  24. I've found that , and as per Muffinman's advice, that Plasti Dip in an aerosol can works better. Spray the inside of the diaphram the spray the outside. Hang upside down and let completely dry before reinstalling. The entire surfaces inside and out get an even coating so the diaphram is not hard in spots and pumps in and out more consistantly. I found the product at Northern Handyman.
