I'll say one thing about Harleys............. At least you can push them. I don't want to have to push my 87 VR anywhere that has more than a downhill grade.
-
Here Here Well said, I have had similar experiences. There is nothing more enjoyable then smoking Harleys when you run across them.
-
I just laugh at them while we're having to haul them out of the road or pick up their lost parts on the road or work on them at every rest stop on a group ride. If fact I am getting to the point where I don't even like to ride with Harleys because of how problematic they are or seem to be.

George, Bike is running great Last week weekend did a 200 mile N. Ga. Mountain run Carbs seemed to straighten out a little and averaged about 37 miles per gallon a lot better then it was at 20 mpg. Float adjustment, diaphram needle mod, new spark plugs, Seafoam gas and Oil treatment made an marked improvement. I snagged a good final drive pumpkin from lonestarmedic (old one is working but iffy with worn splines on inner hub so I'm changing it out) and a new set of factory fork seals off ebay. Pumpkin swap and fork seals is next weeks project before N. Ga. M& E -
If you think that was something you need to get down here to Ga in August and do the Vogel/ Tail of the Dragon thing with us down here in the sunny south.

I'll say, I looked at my address and there is a red truck parked in front of my house that belonged to my downstairs tenant. He died in his bed two years ago. He quit driving and got rid of the truck two years before that. Fiqured photo was at least four years old.

Trying to clean up my work areas and back yard I realized just how many good 1st gen parts I still have on hand. The 84 XVZ1200 parts bike is oly about 25 % disassembled and I still have most of an 87 XVZ1300 motor and a bunch of misc. stuff. Just a reminder, if you are looking for 1st gen parts send me a PM and let me know what you need. Chances are good I'll probably have it. They are going cheap cause I need to clear my space. Thanks

Where's the pics of the bike?

HMMMMMMMMMMM, Lubbock, Texas huh, Lubbock might not be so bad. Resume Sent, Crossed fingers and Prayers please. Thanks for the post.

I might be interested in your first gen cup holder if your not gonna be using it. I haven't been able to find one that works on my first gen.

When you get this way let us know. We will be glad to hook up in N. Ga, W. TN, or E, NC. There are many great rides and BBQ places.
-
It would also be neat to post how many miles gift traveled through which peoples hands to what places.
-
If you do get it make sure to post pictures. Those of us that haven't seen it want to know what it is . Inquiring minds want to know.

Northern Handiman and Harbor freight has a carport shed kit with a frame and tarp roof that is about 10' wide by 20' long and makes a great bike shed for about $100 bucks. For a little more you can get the accessory kit that has walls and a front and back zipper door. Or for about $16.00 J&P motorcycle catalog has a gigantic plastic bag (heavy thickness) that fits over the bike. Both work great to keep the rain off the bike if you have to park it outside. Or I have Walmart sells a pretty good bike cover for pretty cheap. If you need any parts I'm parting out a 84 1200 that still has a lot of good parts left on it. Sounds like some of your other problems may be poor electrical connections. This is very common on these bikes especially if the sit out in the rain. Get some CRC electrical contact cleaner and diaelectric grease and start cleaning and greasing all of the pull apart electrical connections.

No Riding for me this weekend..........
Dragonslayer replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
Lewis, I'm sorry your big toe is sore, But, I'm happy you got three days off. Too bad you won't be able to ride though. It's good you didn't insult the Dr. to much where he could have made a bigger incision. But, you do have three days off, and the weather is sposed to be great. Primo bike riding weather. Gee, sucks to be you this weekend. Hope you get better soon. I'll be thinking about you while I'm riding this weekend. -
Thanks Freebird, I've loved this truck but, a man's got to do what a man has to do. I've been sprucing her up getting it ready to sell and regretting it more and more having to sell her. Her departure is inevitable now since the first bidder met the reserve. This truck will be a super deal for someone since I have over $18,000 in it and forced to sell. It's not a good economy for getting what a collector vehicle is actually worth.

I'll be watching. I did the Atlanta to Sturgis and back the long way last summer and had a blast. Covered 20 states and 6505 miles door to door. While your in the SE and if you get a chance to tour western North Carolina, Eastern Tn and N. Ga. let me know and I'll try to catch up and ride with yall awhile. Off course you must do Deals Gap and the Tail of the Dragon while your this close.
-
I probably shouldn't say, but, since it was met by the first bidder I quess it doesn't matter. Reserve was $3,000

Bid it up and win her, I'll drive it to Texas for you if you buy the gas. I'd like to see ole Tx2sturgis and silverbullet again in Amarillo
