  1. Now wait a minute Puc, Back in 08 when I was in Sturgis them folks at the Ma Yam shop was a big help to me when I had to tear down the bike and rebuild my 1st Gen in their parking lot. They even let me pitch a tent a spend the night. It was handy just having to walk inside for parts.
  2. Good luck finding a phone booth. You may have use your tent instead.
  3. Okie Dokie ole Puc, your super human attire is in route to you as we speak........ I mean as I write. It wasn't cheap but Uncle Sam's Postal service promised it would be in your hands by 3:00 pm tomorrow. Tracking number, EL863182195US. Let me know if it don't show up cause it got insured for $100 automatically. Even if it don't show this investment is guaranteed to pay off. I know you will come up with a bunch of creative ways to have fun with it. Although I worry about Tippy with that cape flapping in her face all the way to Sturgis. The cape does detach but please don't loose it since the cape is half the fun. I can't wait to see the results of this shenanigans plan. I know YOU will do the suit justice. If it ain't to much trouble, could you get a Sturgis souvenir patch to put on the cape. If we get this thing traveling around it would be kinda cool to document the places the suit has been. As far as ideas for videos, here's a few I thought of. Next to Lincoln at Rushmore Flying off Crazy horse monument On stage with Jackle at Full Throttle Salon At WildBills poker table in Dead Wood. With any and all of the topless Sturgis girls, extra points for the most creative pasties.
  4. OR DOING GOOD DEEDS AND SAVING BABIES FROM BURNING BUILDINGS AND STUFF.:superman:
  5. That's what I mean. I was getting worried you wouldn't respond in time for me to get it to you. I'll read the pm in a minute to determine best shipping option to get to you in time. About the suit: 1. It's washed and sanitary. 2. Should fit you just perfect. It was a little snug on me. 3. I thought the suit was missing a little something and found it looked better with some red boxer briefs worn on the outside of the suit. I would send them with the suit but that may be a little weird. You may want to provide your own. A WIDE GOLD BELT WOULD LOOK GOOD TO. I DIDN'T HAVE ONE. 4. The red footsies unzip in case you want to wear boots and tuck the suit inside the boots. It would be fun to see how many cool places and situations you can film you wearing the suit in. Let's think of a game we can come up regarding getting pictures of the suit and a venturerider and scoot in the weirdest places.
  6. are you sure you're not doing burn outs. Seems like an excessive amount of tire changing?
  7. Superman/Dragonslayer to the rescue: Had the same carb problem on my bike last summer. Pulled carbs and went through them and found between extended periods of inactivity and Ethanol in fuel carbs had build up of white stuff and other corrosion inside. I selectively replaced the worst looking needles and jets. WARNING Yamaha is REALLY, REALLY proud of their carb parts. Put them back on and 2carb quit dumping fuel out exhaust pipe. Runs fine now.
  8. Don, Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you out as you pass through this time of tribulations.
  9. True that to all of the above. I don't think anyone here is surprised because of the kinda of guy we all know that you are. But, it would be kinda selfish of you to work yourself into a state of ill health. We all as well as many others, I'm sure, depend on you too much. Probably none of my business, and I get it your working to keep your brother in law's business going. But, from what I can glean from what you've said it seems doubtful he will be able to return to running it. Just wondering if it would more helpful to sell the business and devote the proceed to his care. I'm sure you have considered the best options and am doing the right thing. Forgive me for sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. I think you should plan on taking some time for yourself and ride to Vogel if you can manage it.
  10. Finally got back to retrieve the car this morning. After watching a helpful you tube video on the subject alternator went right back in just like described. No real PITA moments. Hooked the battery back up, car started right up all systems went back to normal. The only thing was I lost all the preset channels on the radio and had to set them back up. Thanks to all that responded with your helpful insight. Truth be known I probably could have figured it out but I always feel more confident after running things by the venturerider mechanical think tank. Never been let down so far. THANKS
  11. BUMP Puc, I still need to know where to send the suit before Sturgis if you ain't skeered.
  12. It didn't look to difficult. The alternator is right on top in right front corner of engine compartment. Generally I believe Toyotas seem to be more mechanic friendly then American made machines. Sorry all you American made only diehards, IMHO. I guess it's ok to say that on a Venture site and not a HD site. Not trying to start a political debate here.
  13. Mind blown Ain't like it was in the old days when unhooking battery was not an issue. Being stuck away from home I removed the battery to recharge so it would be able to return with new alternator. Hope that wasn't a mistake. All I can do now is change alternator hook up recharged battery, cross my fingers and see what happens. I'll let y'all know.
  14. Yeah EXACTLY that is exactly what it did. Aren't the voltage regulators built into the new alternator now? Or is that something else I need to change out. Where is it on a 2008 Toyota Camry/Solara?
  15. Looking for opinion validation from more experienced auto mechanics. Everything had been fine until yesterday when I cranked the car in 95° heat. It started ok but I noticed a humming noise from the engine compartment that I hadn't heard before. I reach my destination about 10 miles away without any problems. When I left heading to my next stop about 3 miles away I noticed that the charging system indicator light had come on. When I left there it started right up so I headed home in rush hour traffic. I consciously decided to take secondary roads and avoid the interstate. Which at this time of day in Atlanta is pretty much grid locked. About eight miles away other indicator lights started to come on. First the ABS light then the break light indicator. The radio started cutting on and off the then the car barely ran at ten miles an hour. I happened to be close to my office so I limped back to my office and landed in a parking spot before the car died all together. I figured the humming noise was a pre warning that the alternator was about to fail. When it did fail the car ran on battery power as long as it could. When the battery was spent all the electronic systems started to melt down due to low voltage until the car finally died. I'm thinking slap a new alternator in it charge up the battery and I'm good to go. Does that sound about right ? Would that scenario cause any permanent damage? Is there anything else I should be concerned about?
  16. Between the Pine beetles and daily pop up thunderstorms with straight line winds pine trees are having a hard time here in Georgia. Seems like every day there is a different tree down on the property. This one came the closest to the house so far. The very top of the tree landed on the deck with no damage and missed the deck furniture as well.
  17. Puc, As much as I would love to hook up with you for some shenanigans I don't see Sturgis in my crystal ball for this year. It ain't that I'm skeered cause being a Dragonslayer with a dual Superman identity, I ain't skeered of notin. We do got to get together though cause I know the two of us together could start some kind of tomfoolery, small revolt and maybe even a stampede or two. But I tell you what, if you will do exactly what you describe doing down Main Street on Tweeksis and get a video of it posted on YouTube I will send you (loan you) the suit for free. PM me your addy. (We need a new emogee, Superman riding a Venture)( Freebird, could you get on that please?) I weren't kidding about getting together. If you'll plan to come to Vogel I promise I'll be there and we'll do some bear herding, rat roping or snipe hunting. It'll be more fun than Bubba letting the smoke out them wires. Gaurrreeeeennnnteeeeeeeddddd. PS, thanks for reminding me of the Psycho Dad years, I had almost forgotten about them.
  18. I paid a whopping two bucks for that outfit. An investment I plan on being returned many times over. It has already paid for itself in giggles.
  19. Sorry for the brief moment of discomfort but I'm sure you will get past this......in time.
  20. I work for a state agency that promotes public health. That's a good thing I guess. Some of our funding comes from federal grants to promote healthy lifestyles. Also a good thing. One of those programs promotes health food choices, produce. Can't find fault in that. So this program funding is for close to two hundred thousand dollars to fund the infrastructure to sell 15 k of fresh produce to the local public. I know I'm not always the sharpest tool in the shed but, doesn't it make more sense to give away 200k worth fresh produce to the local public, And skip salaries vehicles and the like to have a mobile fruit stand one day a month.
  21. In a world where everything is so serious all the time I enjoy poking fun at myself every now and then, just for the giggles.
  22. Can I still be faster then a speeding bullet and more power than a locomotive?
  23. That will probably stick in your head for a while.
  24. Thinking of changing screen name.
  25. There's plenty of people on site that can talk him through whatever problems he's having. He probably want to join so he can access the wealth of information here.
