Whacca mean ignore thread? Not untill I get my worth in. It snowed at my house too, and while I was out in it throwing snowballs at unsuspecting victims, my hands weren't warm at all. Niether was the Global as far as I could tell. So there. Now I'm just bored , hence my response to Freebird's post. I think I'll just take a nap.

Geez, some folk will even turn snow into a political argument. I just made snow angels and threw a few snowballs. Snowballs which started an argument by the way.

Sorry, I couldn't get my bike through the snow drift. Maybe it will melt by the 20th and I can catch up with you then.

Who will / will not allow their kids to have a motorcycle?
Dragonslayer replied to Sunrayman's topic in Watering Hole
Both of my sons are well away from my control to allow or disallow them to do anything. However, I'm not not pushing the issue and am kinda glad that neither one of them show any interest in riding. My oldest son had a Shadow for awhile, about a month but quickly traded it in to get a new truck. Riding means a lot to me but that does not mean that I think everyone should be on a bike. Motorcycles are inherently more dangerous than cars. A lesson I learned when I was sixteen after a 150 mph combined impact headon collision with a 69 Pontiac Bonneville. A near death experience, 3 months in a coma,1 1/2 yrs in traction, 3 yrs in a wheel chair. I am fortunate to be alive and walking and I ride with a completely different mindset at this stage of live then I did when I was a teenager. -
Prayers are with you and Charlene. If there is anything I can do for you while your up here in Tucker please let me know.

Congrats on the 2 hogs. Sounds like I need to come down and thin a few more out for you. We've been busy eating whats in the freezer. Maybe the weather will break and I can make it down to police up the stands. Season totals so far 1 sow, 2 does and 1 buck. 1 big buck road kill stolen off the side of the road.

A couple years back I had a 1987 Corvette and all the Vette drivers waved just like the bikers do.

Some of you have way too much time on your hands. Why you may ask? Oh no let's not go there.

I learned late Friday night that James Bougher, one of my local riding buddies, fellow brother F.O.E. Eagle Rider Group Secretary/Treasurer, and friend passed away suddenly Thursday morning due to a Heart Attack. He is survived by his wife and two small children. Please keep his family in your prayers. His funeral will be held Monday and the Aerie 714 F.O.E. Riders Group will be escorting the funeral procession.

Being basically a motorcycle forum, I bet you thought Orange County Chopper by the OCC in the thread title. That's not really the case. I did manage to land a temporary gig for a few weeks during the Christmas season for a program called OCC. I am not however, working for the dastardly Paul Tuetal Sr. infamous abuser (of Paulie Jr. and Mickey) on the Orange County Chopper motorcycle build reality show. Instead, the OCC I'm talking about is a program called Operation Christmas Child. This OCC is part of the Billy and Franklin Graham outreach ministry Samaritan's Purse. This OCC is about collecting shoe boxes of toys (this year 8 million plus) to send to impoverished children in India, Pakistan and the Ukraine along with a message about " The Greatest Gift of all JESUS." I do have to admit that in the past few years, for various reasons, I have been more of a Christmas Grinch or Scrooge :Im not listening tothan a Santa or merry Christmas Elf. Partly because of the fact that my birthday is at Christmas and each Christmas season is a reminder of my rapidly aging condition and impending mortality. :backinmyday:And partly because my children are now grown and the magic of Christmas in my children's eyes has been replaced with the realistic distant stare of fear:scared: of having to worry about the cost and hectic pace of providing Christmas. Truth be told, not that I'm proud of it, Christmas, (for me in recent years) has been more of a bothersome burden than a seasonal blessing. My small role in this program consist of organizing teams of volunteers into a assembly line processing machine where these shoe boxes are received, sifted, inspected, sealed, sorted, packaged, packed, loaded and shipped out heading for their final destination to a distant country into the arms of a child. My initial assessment of the process seemed more like an exercise in organizing Chaos. But, to my surprise, as the assignment has been developing what I am seeing is an accumulation of small miracles happening on a shoe box to box basis. Miracles that are humbling and reminding me how small I am in the scheme of things and how great God's love is to make all of the necessary things, people and energy come together to make all of this possible. During the hectic pace of this assignment I have been uncharacteristically catching myself singing Christmas carols. I have the day off tomorrow, I might even put up a few strings of Christmas lights and decorations up around the place.

Still contimplating the word "Strewth" used by Quickstep on an earlier post, The Dragonslayer could only wonder what the word meant. He finally decided that is was only Quickstep's attempt to retailiate for the Dragonslayer's use of the U.S. dialect known locally as Ebonics which he had accidentally lasped into on an earlier post. Quickstep had thought that the lanquistics used by the Dragonslayer was a result of the beer tasting at the Budweiser Brewery, which was not the case. In fact those occassional laspes in lanquistics is actually a result of environmental conditioning combined with sporatic effects from withdraw flashbacks of the sixties. Which the Dragonslayer can not help when it occurs. Snapping back into reality, which also sporatically happens, the Dragonslayer suggested that we have lunch at OklahomaJoesBbq.com/Restaurant while in Kansas City before turning North on I-29 heading to St. Joseph, Mo. Where he wanted to stop at Bikes & Babes Bar & Grill where he happened to know the owner Jeff and the beautiful Bartender Joanne.

Our FOE ride stopped at IHOP for breakfast in Gainesville, Ga this morning. The parking lot was packed and the only place I could find to park was to squeeze into a space with three other bikes already there. Two were 1st gens and the 3rd was a Virago. One of the first gens was a blonde MK1 83 and the other was an red/Marone 89 mk2. As I was landing my bike the riders were coming out to leave. So naturally I had to talk to them to see who they were. The rider of the 89 actually owned all three bikes. He told me that he had bought the 1st gens off craigs list locally. the 83 he said he had paid $750 for and was showing a few cracked plastic scars but was otherwise complete and running. The 89 was almost pristine with all the bells and whistles and he had only paid $850 for that one. They had never heard of this forum so I wrote it down for them and they said they were deffinately gonna check it out. While we talking they also told me about a benefit ride they had riden in the day before out of a bar in Gainesville. It evidently was a benefit ride for member of a local club that had Cancer. The ride was sponsored by two different local bike clubs and was an Police escorted ride with about 80 bikes. The bike owner was an EMT and was appalled at the nature of the ride and how dangerous it was even though it was Police escorted. He said the the ride fee included all the free beer and liquore you could drink. And by the time they pulled out most of the riders were pretty buzzed. At the rest stops there were free pitchers of beer so during the ride most of the riders were drunk and hot roding up and down the pack. all under Police ride control. It must have been a sight because several of other people we talked to in Gainesville not related to the ride were talking about it.

Immediately says, "Just because I'm wearing these short shorts and BongoBobNY made an ill advised comment about the number of times I have posted does not mean I'm a post Whore. I paid my $12.00 USD and have the right to post as much as I want without having my integrity impuned. So back off Bub" Dragonslayer then steps up to defend Yammie Mammie's honor and unsheaths his trusty sward and says "That's right Bub,so back off" and furthermore Yammie Mammie's short shorts are part of her super hero Wonder Woman costume and the source of some of her super hero powers that helps her fight evil. Dragonslayer then turns to the pack and announces "Simon Says Mount up, start your engines, we will be heading west from here to Kansas City on I-70."...............

The drawing for the bike will be done this Sunday 11/15/09 @ 8:00 PM at the end of a ride from the Aerie to Helen, Georgia and back to the Aerie. The ride has been advertised in Full Throttle Magazine, Thunder Roads of Ga. and on Bikerornot.com. The cost of the ride is $35.00 per bike which buys 1 raffle ticket plus $10.00 per rider. To date there has only been about 650 tickets sold out of 1000 maximum tickets to be sold. Someone will definetly win this bike on Sunday. If you have already bought tickets your odds are pretty good. If you want to increase your odds there still tickets to be sold before Sunday.
