Dragonslayer replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
Bobbie, As always a great job on the photo documentation. -
Hey Those of you that are interested in RC I have some stuff that I inherited from a tenant that passed away. Including a plane that is about 80% completed and a bunch of accessories. If anyone might be interested in any or all of it, I'll post a list.

I just got the final thumps up on the new job. Background check and drug screen came back clean and I start orientation 8:30 Monday morning. It feels great to finally be going back to work in a real job again. Thanks for all of your hopes, prayers and crossed fingers I'm sure they were the final thing that made this all work out.

Try a 12 Gauge shotgun. That oughta do it. Thats what I used to get rid of the bat colony in the attic when the moth balls didn't work. Of course I had to do some roof repairs when I got done.

Oldest & YOungest: WHO WAS 77 YR OLD RIDER? Lost record. Help!
Dragonslayer replied to Zfrebird4's topic in Watering Hole
I'm 54, or, really I'm 18 with 36 years of good solid experience. -
Jack, I don't think we have met before But I am looking forward to the opportunity when we will. With your experience your insight and advice means a lot. I have been a professional facility/property/maintenance manager since the seventies and have been involved with all types of facilities and building usages from Multi-family, office, retail, college campuses, churches, schools, hospitals and airports. Early in my career I took pride in positive impact I made on the facility as result of my efforts. But, in time and I guess with some maturity, I realized that it was more about the impact on the people who lived, worked and passed through those structures. The impact on those people as a result of the environment that I helped create and maintain. I'm looking forward to this job and consider it an honor and priveledge to be entrusted with the "Environment of Care" of this facility so that I may be able to touch the lives of the people that live, work and pass through it. The answer to your earlier question is 54. Thank you for you kind words and support. Bob

Now Squid, Don't be modest. I know your older than 25 and have been honing your BS degree longer than that.

Thank you Walter and tell Wes thanks from me as well. I hope that ya'll are doing well. My Aunt was over the other day and during our visit I showed her the Vogel video. She really enjoyed it and was quite moved and entertained.

You betcha, My treat.

Thanks Steve, That means a lot. It's hard to describe how I feel right now but the feeling of relief you described is certainly a part of it. I just woke up from a dream and could not go back to sleep. Of course I was dreaming about the job, not the money so much or how much landing the job would mean for my economic health. I was dreaming about how the people I would come in contact with in this job would impact me and how I had the opportunity to impact them. I don't think the warm fuzzy feeling I woke up with was due to the bed covers or comforter.

My prayers are with you and your family. Hope things work out for you as well.

I can't thank all of you enough for your prayers and well wishes. Once again life proves that prayers can make a difference. I went for the interview this afternoon with your prayers, well wishes, thoughts and advice at heart. Although I did not polish my forehead in fear of blinding someone with by shiney bald scalp. But, I did make sure it was scrubed, my finger nails clean and my ear, nose and mustach hair neatly trimed, tie tied right and groomed for success. All of the foregoing must have worked because I was officially offered the job at $20,000 more a year then I was prepared to accept, with full benefits, 401 k and employement enducements suitable for grown people with a serious job. All of which subject to satisfactory results from the drug screening test and background check. Which I'm not concerned about. Unless caffine from my morning's coffee counts against me. Tentatively, I will be starting next week and am looking forward to getting back to work in the real world and away from daytime TV. In fear of being too mushy and melodramtic I will refrain from describing my emotions at this time. All I can say is thank you for your prayers and support. Proving once again that this is an awesome group of family and friends and My God is an awesome God. Your Friend Bob

Today I've been invited back for a second interview, drug screening and possible job offer for a real job back in my field of expertise, Facility Maintenance Management. I've been out of that field for a while (10 Years) being a self employed sub-contractor and have been actively seeking to get back in the job market for the past two years. I don't mind telling you that it has been rough for me over the past few years like it has been for so many others and many of us. Being at this stage of life with an abundance of experience but no Degree it has been a slow process finding a job in my skill level. Most all jobs even the most basic unskilled entry level jobs require a degree to be considered. Those of you with children emphasis the importance of a college degree. I have been close to my economic collapse lately facing loosing my house and the possibility of being homeless. It has been so disheartening that emotionally and spiritually I have been finding strength in my faith that things would work out in God's time. I can see providence at work since this job would be a perfect fit for my past experience and desire to find a position that would allow me to do meaningful Dragon Slayer work. This facility is an Assisted living facility for medical rehabilitation and hospice patients. This job would mean so much to me that I am asking for all of the prayer and crossed finger action I can get in hopes that your sent hopes and prayers will help make it happen.

No not really, I thought about it for a second but the truth is, I'm really not that brave. I did mention that it would be fun going hunting in the snow. But, then the deer incident and the thought of sliding on the ice in her deer altered car all the way to the hunting land came to mind. So, we opted for watching TV and napping on the couch. But that little kid that caught one on the back of the head right after nailing me with a snowball in the grocery store parking lot is probably still whinning to his mother.
