  1. @TheTooch, looks great! Only suggestion is to check in California and Oregon with regards to rt 101. They do tend to have slides that close the road or the road itself breaks off and leaves a gap. With the rain some areas have had on the coast... Last minute road conditions check might be important. I will be following the blog.....I enjoy reading and looking at pics and videos of rides! Thanks for sharing.
  2. What size did you get?
  3. Pat and I took off on the RSV this morning and met Mark and his date for a short ride to Payson. Last week we found a bee swarm and wanted to check if any more were visiting. We also had a plumber install a new curb stop valve and drain. Looks like the bees have company so time to call a pro! The plumber did a clean job, making it easy now for me to shut water off to cabin and drain pipes at the end of the season. Then we stopped at a tiny restaurant and had the most delicious pulled pork I've ever had. Tender, moist and full of pecan smoke flavor, it was almost a shame to dip in the most wonderful sauces. Ran into my first rain on that scoot.. And was nicely surprised how dry we stayed compared to friends. Now... Since I do know the rules...... Good food, way to much good food! Good company, and a very nice ride in the mountains.
  4. Nice! Now go out and change that clutch fluid and ride!!
  5. If she runs well and gets good mpgs... Guess that would be good!
  6. The P.O. took off the tank badges. I'm thinking of putting them back on. Anyone have two clean ones for a silver 05 RSV?
  7. Yep... Sounds like some junk that was hiding came out to play and is caught in carbs... From where... Don't know. Try seafoam again. Run for a few.... Shut down and walk away for a day. Try again.
  8. On Am if the signal is weak...I get noise. Sometimes on intercom if I crank the mic volume and listen...it's there. Back in the 80's ignition noise in car radios was still around as well...though most manufacturers got it right the first time, if you put in a non-standard radio...you had problems. I used to install radios in Mercedes and other exotics...what a piece of @$*(& ...especially if they wanted the optional tape deck. We had to build small Faraday cages to keep the noise out! I'm not surprised scoots have ignition noise in radios/intercoms. In fact, I'm surprised it's not worse!
  9. Looks like the guy I bought mine from is still selling them... http://www.ebay.com/itm/391440810632 david
  10. Oh my...sad to see. Glad they are OK....!!!
  11. Think I'll try the new Shinkos in WW on the 05 RSV
  12. Suggest you also pull the plug wires out of the coils and check for green corrosion on the ends. if they are corroded, simply cut off a 1/2inch or enough to get to clean copper and re-install the wires. The resistance is actually built into the plug wire cap...about 5Kohms if memory serves. I replaced my wires and caps as a pre-built matched set...on Ebay. They were setup for the 5K ohm resistance already. It's a bear to get in there with hands, but I did it. Unscrew the plastic knob, carefully push that back up the wire. There should be a rubber grommet next...push that back...then pull wire out. The coil has a sharp pin inside the hole that the new (or cut) coil wire goes in to (as far as you can push...hopefully impaling the wire on the pin)...the grommet gets pushed back up to the coil and the plastic knob gets pushed back and screwed back on. The knob compresses the rubber grommet holding wire on...in theory! Hope this helps,
  13. Prayers Up, Ed for you and your family!! Dam...don't like reading about this.... david

  17. So Mike, not to hijack thread... But how does one swr the second gen CB? Looks to me like the antenna cable goes straight into the CB box. TIA, david

  19. Our best wishes to you and the family! Blessings and Prayers....
  20. Thank you @Prairiehammer and @yamagrl !!! Lots of info there @FiDude. Let's hope that helps you with #4 carb....
  21. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?19271-Carb-Diaphram-Replacement Above shows how to replace diaphram but wasn't what I was looking for....
  22. OK cylinder #4 isn't getting proper mixture as the slide isn't working. I would take the diaphram cover of that carb, and using carb cleaner.... Clean the plastic slide and corresponding carb chamber... Double check the diaphram is good with no holes and seated in plastic slide. Make sure slide is/was installed properly... It has to be aligned. In other words, it only goes in one way... And there is a tiny hole in bottom of slide that must be orientated properly. @Prairiehammer... Can you find picture for fi showing how the slide is installed? Also a picture of the needle assembly on the slide? Pretty please!! Thanks!! The choke lever should be friction tight. IE, should stay. Check if spring is to big..... Maybe reduce spring pressure so it stays in one place. My choke lever (89 vr) does not return at all... And it's stiff. I push it on then gradually push it off as bike warms.
  23. I hear ya. I rarely go that fast either. Just to test things....
  24. Love it! Awaiting the next installment, James! And thanks for sharing...
